>tfw issue orders to fire on a rebel starship, but order is delayed 3 hours because of 19km long ship

>tfw point ship at rebel targets to ensure all 5000 guns are on target
>guns at the back half of the ship are out of effective range

no wonder the empire lost

>delayed 3 hours because of 19km long ship
Why? Maybe they use some sort of fiber optic solution. That'd mean about 95 microseconds of delay.
>>
>>33971608
they can literally communicate across star systems I dont know what OP is even on about
>>
>>33971623
yeah that's weird the only way you could real time comm a different planet is quantum entanglement. but then the entire signal radio dishes and jamming would be pointless.

I always thought the AAT battle tank was the most practical and well designed military ground vehicle in the star wars universe. It just need to be a droid itself.

I mean this thing is extremely well armored and has excellent armor distribution, has a metric shit ton of firepower to take care of most ground based threats, and the main gun is mounted very high off the ground giving it excellent theoretical depression and elevation. The main problem would be the launch hatches being located at the frontal bottom rim of the tank, which means they really can't be used on any terrain that isn't dead flat and the main gun turret is tucked way to far back of the vehicle, forcing the main gun to rest on a slight indentation formed by the main crew hull and preventing it from depressing to any meaning degree.

I mean yeah this thing as design defects but if the trade federation wasn't so pants on head retarded, they'd get rid of all the droids have built in droid AI piloting/commanding and firing the guns which saves and reduces hull space and size. Allow the main gun to take advantage of its good angle of depression. Mount a single multipurpose launch tube on a hull embedded traversal turret where the front hatch is, move the torpedo ammunition into the vacant crew compartment and design the exit ramp as blowoff panels that vents any explosive pressures downwards to the ground. if a direct hit cooks off the live ammunition inside.preventing the explosive damage or cookoff from destroying the repulsors, power generators and main turret.

And have all the droid AI be planted in the main turret's control console with enough room for a person to manually operate and command the vehicle if need be.

Shit I think I redesigned this into a Star Wars M3 Lee.

Depends on the type of shielding. Ray shields absorb/deflect energy-based weaponry, particle shields deflect/block kinetic impact. It's practically necessity for spacecraft to have at least rudimentary particle shields even if they aren't combat-oriented for things like micrometeors and space debris as you mentioned.

However, I'd be inclined to believe that ground combat vehicles relied more on straight armor over shields, and if they would have any they would be ray shields since, as mentioned, the bulk of weaponry is energy-based, also the fact that most combat vehicles will likely be in close proximity to other troops or vehicles, meaning at best they'd have to worry about getting too close to an invisible barrier, at worst it may be an invisible barrier that could harm them.

Star Destroyers are functionally mobile military bases, though some designs are more specialized at certain roles. If anything they're analogous to an expeditionary strike group packed in a single ship.

So maybe the novels could be considered canon as well

>>
>>33982995
Nothing. The CGI series validated the video game and Delta, but trashed a large bulk of what Traviss was working on with Omega and Skirata. She's said a while ago IIRC that due to the direction the show took with Mandalore and Mandalorian culture/history, she can't canonically continue or finish her story.

Skirata and Vau should at least be carried on in the canon somehow, they were probably the most likeable out of all the characters she wrote

Not to mention the fact that it's such a damn good candidate for a continued side story arc in general, looking at the aftereffects of war on clones who still age twice as fast as anyone else while a ragtag group of Mandos desperately searches for a cure
>>
>>33983202
Not just looking for a cure by looking for an identity

Jusik has to rub Arla’s memory to enable her to cope with her trauma. Afterwards, she doesn’t remember being Arla Fett or what happened to her family, but she knows who she is – she just doesn’t feel the pain of memory. Jusik marries her.
>Skirata and Altis team up, and the Nulls help Altis fake his own death to escape. Scout is adopted by Gilamar and Uthan, but she remains a Jedi with Altis’s sect.
>Skirata and Ny marry, as do Gilamar and Uthan.
>Maze and Zey (unrubbed memory) go off and become the Starsky and Hutch of the galaxy with Altis, along with Kina Ha. (Also unrubbed – Skirata reaches some kind of peace with at least some Kaminoans.)
>Uthan perfects the treatment to stop the clones’ accelerated aging.
>Darman comes back, kidnaps Kad, and goes on the run. Niner deserts and joins the clan at Kyrimorut.
>The Death Watch find out that Gilamar killed Priest, and go hunting for Skirata’s clan.
>Rede turns out to be a loyal and not-all-that-naive trooper and Skirata is forced to kill him to save the others, an act that haunts him for the rest of his life.
>The clan is forced to flee off-planet in a ba’slan shev’la (strategic disappearance) to evade the Empire.
>Darman shows up again with Kad and joins them as they disappear.

Well, the death star (first one) was origionally depicted as being a stand alone weapon, requiring (shortsightedly) no escort fleet, designed to hop in, vape a planet, and if any extranious circumstances arose, its turbolaser armament and fighter compliment would have more than been capable of dealing with any enemies which survived the primary ignition.

You do realize that the force required to move your arm (or hand) at several thousand feet per second in order to meet the bullet would break every bone in your arm and completely wear out your are muscles, right?

Like, a human arm cannot physically move as fast as a bullet flies without coming apart at the figurative seems?

Not even going to mention how retardedly powerful a brain would have to be to calculate a flying bullet's trajectory and then signal the arm to move in the handful of miliseconds before the bullet hits it's target.

The design of the human body, even one that can see the future, is physically incapable of matching the sheer speed and force of a bullet.

I would find it more likely that the Jedi in question would just pull some kind of physical force field out of their ass or use force pull to get themselves mobile cover.

No Jedi is sabering bullets out of the air mid-flight though.

They actually explained this. something do with magnets and electrics that gives the AT-ACT a higher carry weight than a Normal AT-AT. Meaning the Ion shots from whatever that gun is ( Ion weapons basically act like an EMP its also what they disabled the Star Destroyer with in the film and empire strikes back ) just disabled said system and the leg was crashed on the under the weight of the body.

Well Ion shot can clearly spread around the entire frame, if you look where they hit the SD, it disables all electrics on the ships regardless of only hitting the top thick Armour. I'm not sure how it works really only that if you hit something with enough of it, its going to be disabled. The bombers in Rouge one hit the SD in quite a few places but the Ion cannon in Empire only hit a few shots at a small part of the ship but the Entire thing went dark.

>Not even going to mention how retardedly powerful a brain would have to be to calculate a flying bullet's trajectory and then signal the arm to move in the handful of miliseconds before the bullet hits it's target.
Do you not, like, read, like, the sentences I wrote, like could you just not be like, illiterate?

The Force means they can move fast and the Force also means they have clairvoyance and are predicting the future, not reacting to the present. They are moving to deflect the bullet before it has even left the barrel, which is actually almost exactly what Traprito is doing.
>>
>>33997347
>which is actually almost exactly what Traprito is doing.
Specifically, in that game they telegraph the bullet's path before it's fired. And Kirito was one of the top lead raiders in SAO, where he had to learn to read enemy attacks without any aids like that.
>>
>>33995065
>>33995133
>>33997347
Them being Jedi and being able to see the future doesn't mitigate the fact that the physical human form is not designed to withstand the forces that would be required to move their arm or hand at the speeds required to stop a bullet, even if they did so before the round was fired. A fully automatic firearm would also destroy this whole theory because the Jedi still can't move their arm at thousands of feet per second to block every round without completely destroying their arm, I don't care how powerful the force is.

I'm not saying Jedi can't do it in the lore, just pointing out how retarded it is.
>>
>>33998540
You are still confusing predictive and reactive movement, buddy. Jedi flow with the force, and don't need to move their arms that much. In the attached image she's basically just twitching her wrist to shift the position of the weightless blade.
>>
>>33998637
And my argument is that the speed at which Jedi stop laser blasts are small time compared to what would be required to stop a bullet.

It doesn't matter how much you "flow with the force" or how much you predict where the bullets will go, your physical frame would still be unable to move fast enough to stop every bullet, particularly if they are from a fully automatic firearm.

I don't think you understand how fast bullets actually travel in flight.
>>
>>33998665
The other anon clearly can't read, but I think it's safe to say that Jedi are firmly in the "it's magic, I aint gotta explain shit" department. They could just *use the Force* to have their arms not fly apart when they try to block bullets.

But most depictions of Jedi show extensive Force use as taxing, so they would tire out and make mistakes a lot faster. Assuming a given Jedi's precog abilities (which vary a lot) and their ability to use the Force (which varies a lot) are even enough for them to do it in the first place.

So some of them would be able to do it for a short time... but the average Jedi would die about as fast as that blue lizard alien Jedi that landed next to Jango when they attacked the arena in Attack of the Clones.
>>
>>33986372
>Space hind
>>
>>33998665
I think it's a moot point because:
A: Slugthrowers are all but non-existant in Star Wars and may be dangerous to block anyways. And even then, it's, again, moving to block where the Force is predicting it to be, not tracking it in flight.
B: Jedi don't try to block too much fire.
C: THe image that set that off is from inside a video game in the setting, so you're being a triple autist about this.

I had my doubts about Star Wars: Diversity Squad, but it was actually a pretty dang good movie. Anyhow, the most /k/ Star Wars ever was no doubt some of the more clone-oriented episodes of Clone Wars, like Landing At Point Rain, Citadel Rescue, or the Krell arc.

Actually that only mattered for the part where he had to beat the speed challenge. NPCs always look where they want to attack so it is possible to get an early read by watching their eyes.
