Are wars won by genius, heroics and skill, or by attrition, grit and bloodshed?
all of the above
>>33967225
Well in the case of the Iraq war it was done by bribing top generals of the Iraqi army
It depends on the number of people involved.
The greater the number, the less important the individual is.
>>33967225
it would depend on the political objective. war is the highest expression of the politician's art.

Wars are won by tactical genius and MVP commanders.
Logistics...
>>33967225
Wars are won by logistics, strategy, artillery (all kinds) and navy (if applicable), airforce, tactics, armor and infantry.
In this order of importance.
>>33967225
Logistic and manpower . also doctrinr is important too
>>33967225
Genius, heroics, and skill obviously. Anybody can die and shed blood, but it takes a person who knows what he's doing to channel that death into something productive.

>tactical genius
I think the Barbarossa operation very firmly showed that no amount of tactical domination can ever make up for stupidity in other areas.

and of course good luck TRUMPS ALL

Chines version of Christians that make ISIS look like liberal democrats got dealt in Chinese fashion.
Surprisingly one of the reason why the Communists pay far more attention to Christians than to Muslims even today.
Logistics
Luck
Ability to hold out and keep fighting

They're won by air supremacy
>>33967225
By genius attrition, heroic grits and skillful bloodshed.
>>33967225
by logistics and economical power
strategy > tactics
They are won by being on the side of what is good, right, and free. They are won by the sacrifice of our brave AMERICAN heroes
>>33967225
You need enough skilled heroes to allow your genius commanders to win by attrition.
>>33967225
Lots of wars were won by a better moral e.g. Korea, Vietnam or the World Wars.
>>33967653
Chinese civil wars are fucking brutal
>>33967225
short answer: both
long answer: boooooooooooth
>>33967225
My dick was bigger. And I'm an American. Wins wars every time.
>>33967225
Strategy and smart field commanders.
Everything else is a borderline irrelevant.
>>33967225
Genius and skill mean nothing if you aren't willing to take risks and casualties.
Grit and attrition mean nothing if you don't have the skill to minimize casualties and capitalize on enemy losses.

mostly because of a total war waged by both sides that ended up killing entire villages and cities as well as mass famines that happen every chinese civil war
>>33967225
Wars are generally won before they are started

>Surprisingly one of the reason why the Communists pay far more attention to Christians than to Muslims even today.
Wrong.
>>33970273
The communists used to idolize the Heavenly Kingdom and teach that they were proto-communist revolutionaries.
In China they try to control the church to make sure Christians are loyal to the state. They do the same with Muslims but they are treated much more harshly. Some regions ban fasting during Ramadan, long beards, veils, Islamic baby names and all sorts of other shit. Mass arrests are common and protests are often violently crushed.

amen
I think politics are the most important.
You cant win a war if the people in charge of you are idiots and disband the Iraqi army thus unemploying a bunch of soldiers who get desperate since they dont have jobs and leave arms depots abandoned for example.
