Why shouldn't I buy a Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec as a first 1911?
>inb4 you heard SA sold out Illinois firearms dealers but don't know how and are too fucking lazy to learn the details of what actually happened and why SA and RRA have since severed ties with the IFMA
>>33961991
you should theyre good guns
>>33962002
The Jew fears the Samurai
>>33961991
Well there is the whole SA RRA scandal where they appear to have sold thier customers down the river. (At least the Illinois ones)
>>33961991
The biggest reason not to is they tried to make it look like a usgi style 1911, but they put slanted slide serrations on it and it looks terrible.
Because the loaded model exists.
>>33961991
oh goody. SA is in full damage control, paying shills to counter their fuckup of paying worse shills.
>>33961991
because supporting Springfield is supporting gun control.

>>33961991
>>SA and RRA have since severed ties with the IFMA
Can't sever ties with yourself.
SA pls gtfo
because the range officer exists.
>>33961991
SA and RRA are undoubtedly anti-gun 2nd amendment hating cocksuckers. I hope they go out of business and the owners are left penniless and must whore themselves out to craigslist closet homos for just enough money to buy some bread.
Its no great mystery how they sold out. Its all been proven they had ties(contributions given for kick-backs) to anti-gun bills.
And oh yeah, they are feebly attempting to try to cover their asses now that they know they are undeniably fucked.
SA 1911s are over-priced junk anyways. Fucking Brazilian sweat-shop manufactured and finished here in America. Might as well get a RIA or Taurus for that matter. have fun with the finishing wearing prematurely and barrels getting rust and corrosion within a year even with recommended maintenance and care. Dont believe me? Look it up
Fuck SA and RRA and Fuck OP for letting these companies push his shit in.

''THE OLDEST NAME IN AMERICAN FIREARMS''
>Founded in 1974
The company is big on marketing and low on quality.
It's breddy good, I got one but I also have a customized colt commander 1911. Comparing the two, the colt 1911 commander is alot better.
>>33961991
Because it's a milspec. Literally an example of the worst incarnation of the 1911. Shitty grip safety, shitty safety, shitty sights, shitty ejection port, and a shitty trigger.
Spend the same money somewhere else and you'll end up with a much better shooter
>>33962505
this, I have the basic bitch milspec and now I wish I had spent the extra money for the loaded
>>33962683
>Since 1794
>The company was founded in 1947
>It has no affiliation with the federal armory
Yeah...you can go fuck yourself, Springfield.
A basic Colt Government Model can be had for practically the same amount of money and is a far better gun.
>>33961991
Regardless of what their shit administration does, they make a pretty good production gun.
I got mine as a project gun and love it. Never had an issue.
>>33962505
mein negro
>>33963085
Didn't they make WWI and WWII guns for the US? If say they're older than that.
>>33962505
Yup, get the Loaded Model, mine's bitchin'
>>33963360
Springfield, Inc. isn't the same Springfield from the days of old. I think one is the modern commercial company and the other was government run (?).
>>33963360
Original springfield closed its doors in springfield Massachusetts, in late 60s early 70s, the name was then licensed to Robert Reese, to form Springfield Armory, Inc. Who to this day uses the original blueprints and manufacturing techniques the original company did way back when to make the iconic weapons we know today (m14/m1a, and the 1911).
>>33963360
Springfield Armory was a government-owned armory that ceased to exist in 1968. Springfield Armory, Inc. was founded in 1974 and just took the name and though, ''hey, we can sell sub-par guns to idiots who think they're buying GENUINE AMERICA.''
>>33963426
>Springfield Armory, Inc.
>Original anything
Oh lawd...
>>33963449
Yeah, ikr... i just ripped it from the wiki.
>>33963426
>original blueprints and manufacturing techniques
BWAHAHAHAHA
>>33963672
Thats literally What they claim, pretty fuckin funny
>>33961991
Not too lazy to learn the details so the reason you shouldn't buy one of these things is that they sold out Illinois firearms dealers and supported gun control candidates..... until they got caught and started backpedaling as fast as they could.
SA & RRA, "Just Say No".
>>33961991
Buy a colt model 80 instead
>>33961991
I have a Springfield 1911 Loaded and it's pretty good. Shoots well. Sights should have had loctite or threadlock on them, the retaining screw worked itself out once.
>>33962683
This was my first pistol it's a good gun hasn't let me down yet simple and clean. easy to upgrade
>>33961991
They ARE the IFMA. Don't know where you're getting you'e info from.
I know /k/ likes to blame companies instead of politicians like short sighted idiots, but the mil-spec is a pretty decent 1911 for what it's worth.
Also Springfield didn't support any bill they just remained neutral
>>33965025
By paying money for themselves to be left out of it.
Yeah.
>>33961991
enjoy your huehuebr monkey shit with mim parts.
>>33963268
>>The company was founded in 1947
not even, try 1974.
>>33961991
Because Auto Ordnance exists
USA made
Cheaper
>>33961991
Sad thing is, Springfield 1911's are one of the best in the industry for the money...but the recent political shitting of the bed is making it really hard for me to buy the TRP I want...
>>33962505
>>33961991
The loaded is the "beginner tier" you should get.
Replace the full length guide rod and the mainspring housing and you have the best 1911 on the market...barring recent political and social suicide from the company.
I say hate the parents, not the child.
>>33966040
Colt uses mim and plastic and also turned their back at the civilian market in favor of just doing government contracts and is now bankrupt because of it.
>>33963968
