Can anyone identify this rifle. It has been in my grandfather's garage for as long as I remember.

It's not a K31. The locking lugs at the rear of the receiver (all that extra length) and the lightening cuts at the rear suggest a 1911 pattern rifle or a modernized 1896 (1896/11).
The sight and upper handguard suggest 1911, how long is the barrel OP? Are there any markings on the receiver?
Here's another he has, in much worse condition though.

Hit that lever on the side and pull the bolt all the way out. Take a picture of that and I'll be able to tell you an exact model.
