Although I understand the significance behind the current Army uniforms, pink and greens are just plain better looking. I wouldn't even mind the previous greens returning at this point.

Officers fitted is a real thing. But only if there was an actual difference between officer and enlisted uniforms.

The greens were literally the same between officers and enlisted whereas the blues now actually have a different cut. We have a slimmer leg and a closer fitting coat.

>>
>>33962841

East berlin woman "defects" and escapes into west berlin. She is nearly caught but manages to get across the line and the soviet guards cant pursue because doing so would technically be considered an act of aggression which would not only get them shot instantly but would probably snowball into a conflict.

Pic is the woman on the west berlin side, with west berlin guards/police making sure the soviet guards dont do anything stupid while refusing to surrender the woman back to them because she would be likely executed. Soviet guards are clearly considering just smoking the lot of them because fuck that shit.

Obviously the soviets get talked down in the end and both sides go back to glaring at eachother.

I don't get why this is so hard. Go to an OD green field uniform for the majority of troops. Bring back the dress greens which were sexy as fuck. And adopt a utility uniform like this. Army of the Union had some class, and even the infantry was looking badass, but then we was left with just the guys wearing blue pants, blue shirts, and a goddamn hat.

>>33963844
Does this looks like armed forces to you? Literally Mexico tier. No, wait. Even the Mexicans had better uniforms back then.
>>
>>33965783
Gee whiz its like you think some shit like that would be a suitable replacement for any of our uniforms under any fucking circumstances. Might as well just starting pinning nametags and rank on carhartt jackets and wrangler jeans, because that's how stupid you sound.

The uniforms are cool, and they had a time and place, but that time is not now, and the place is not here.
>>
>>33966091
I don't know anyone in the army who has an issues with shirt stays, we just dont wear class Bs nearly as much as marines do (I assume). If its every day work wear, then its OCPs. If its more formal, then class As. You'll probably see class Bs more often in TRADOC or pog units as "office wear", but even then its usually OCPs.

>source: am in army
>>
>>33966186
Sleeve rank for enlisted is literally the only sewn on piece of the uniform, and even then that's only class As. If your shoulder sleeve insignia is "fraying" that much, you either a) tried to have a blind ape sew it in for you or b) wear your dress uniform like everyday, and if thats the case then fucking pogs can kick rocks it cost like 5 dollars to have it done right and this if you can't do it yourself.
>>
>>33958704
Open question to anyone that served, do you actually give a shit about the dress uniform? Is there a compelling reason to keep it at all?

I know that its meant to be a training tool and a source of morale but there are other tools that could take its place. Did the morale side do it for you?
>>
>>33968043
Didn't care for it other than pre-deployment photos. My unit hardly ever wore ours because we'd schedule ranges/fields at the beginning of each month to avoid having to dress up. I guess they'd be fine for balls and events but I made it 5 years without ever having to go to one.
>>
>Army goes back to pink and greens
>Still manages to fuck it up in the process
>Everyone wants to go back
>>
>>33968111
Even returning to THE greens would be better than sticking with blues
>>
>>33958704
So what I'm reading here is that the pink and greens would essentially replace the blues for everything except really formal events?
>>
>>33962933

Those aren't Soviet troops, they're East German Volkspolizei (which was essentially the proto-NVA before rearmament)
>>
>>33968043
Its honestly nice to be able to clean yourself up, put on a dress uniform, and have a few beers with coworkers at some type of formal event/celebration. I know guys that don't like it, but it happens so few and far between (once, maybe twice a year?) that its not that big a deal. It might sound stupid, but most guys I know like to puff out there chest and peacock around just a bit every now and then.

Now any more than that though, it becomes a chore and it seems like command is milking the dress uniforms for "look at my professional unit" points. Thank God it doesn't happen like that in most infantry units though.
>>
>>33968146
No, itd be more of just another alternative since the Army is super linear when it comes to uniforms (I.e.Training? OCPs. Formal? Class As. In between? Take the coat off.). Navy and Marine Corps, for example, have like a billion different uniforms, so itd be aomething along the lines of that.

Plus, they wouldnt phase out Blues just yet on account of just changing to them in the past couple of years.

Pre 9/11 damn near every unit worse Class B's on either Friday or Monday depending on the unit and it was the every day uniform for TRADOC POG's and many other POG's/recruiters/DC shits/ect. It sounds like we're trying to go back to something like that which IMO isn't the worst thing in the world as long as soldiers who need it are provided with the funds to have more than one uniform.
