If it makes you feel better, the latest iteration the army has been integrating is a good deal lighter. Plus its a pretty kickass weapon system to have at the platoon level. To each their own though.

That was my experience of it and virtually everyone else around me was about the same. The only shit thing about it was picking up all the brass and link, if you did it at all. Cleaning wasn't even that bad since people were less autistic about it and accepted that it wasn't going to ever be spotless and actually acknowledged that it would work fine anyway.
