Why isn't there a "pistol-caliber" carbine chambered in a magnum cartridge like .357 or .44? Somebody has to have been crazy enough to make something like that?
There's plenty of them. They just happen to have levers on them.
They make plenty of lever guns in .357 and .44
>>33950379
Ruger used to make a semi auto 44 magnum carbine.
>>33950379
hello
there's also this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfVPEQfmHEA
perhaps I should have been more specific: this but magnumized
>>33950379
I want a mares leg in .454 casull.
But that's never going to happen
>>33950422
You can get .357mag ballistics and a much easier adaptation by using 10mm instead. 10mm was literally designed to be .357 for autoloaders.
>shorter case
>rimless
>>33950412
what was it called?
Rimmed cartridges usually don't like to be in magazines. Especially double stack magazines.
>>33950438
yeah but what about stronger cartridges?
>>33950439
Ruger 44 carbine
10mm glock carbine conversion kit
>>33950452
thanks
>>33950464
A hipoint carbine in 10mm would be epic.
>>33950449
Beyond that you might as well just use an intermediate rifle cartridge. You get smaller diameter which leads to more rounds per magazine.
>>33950503
Unfortunately for those in some states, necked rounds cant be used for hunting.
so .357 rifles are ok. .30-30 isnt.
It sucks, but thats how it is in OH. So PCCs in various forms are getting popular as durr rifles.
>>33950503
No, now you're thinking rationally. Something like "UMP45 but it's in .454 and full auto" is more like my thinking
>>33950520
There's a monstrosity of an AR-15 "pistol" with an "arm brace", an RDS, and chambered in .50 Beowulf that's Ohio legal for durr huntan.
>>33950522
Oh, you're just shitposting. In that case I want a tommy gun in .500 S&W.
>>33950639
While awesome sounding, a .50 Beowulf ar pistol sounds
1- expensive
2- ow
3-EEEEEE
>>33950738
It's a "pistol" with a rifle length barrel and a stock that's not a stock.
>>33950639
>Thompson in .500 S&W
I kind of want to see this now.
>>33950452
If ruger brought this back with a 20 round mag they would make a killing
>>33950379
In order of importance
>1
rimmed cases
>2
to build an action big enough to physically cycle a longer round you'd basically have the same package as an m4 or similar which would be vastly superior
>3
pistol caliber carbines are memes and nobody puts actual effort or more importantly money into them if they know what they're doing
I wondered this myself since I like having versatility in my collection. I found some Henry lever-action carbines that do take .357 and .44 magnum
The downside? It's called the Henry "Big Boy"
>>33951321
>20 round mag
>rimmed cartridge
So basically a drum?
>>33951333
Marlin makes the 1894 in .44mag and used to make it in .357mag. Rossi makes a .357 lever gun too.
>>33951341
It would be very similar to the 10/22 extended mag....only bigger
>>33950433
Get a Marlin in .454 and SBR it
>>33950520
There are lever-action rifles in calibers like .45-70 and what have you.
>>33951372
Have fun stacking long-ass rimmed cartridges like that in a box mag, it'd be like one of those old Chauchat magazines, half a donut.
A drum would be way better for the purpose, and even then, 10rds or 12rds would be easier and not be a huge drum, while giving you lots of firepower.
Made this for a thread a while back on "what would you arm your new south African country with"
>>33952329
I remember that thread. One crazy bastard was trying to push his 6x25 tungsten meme ammo.
>>33950452
>>33950465
>>33951341
>>33951321
they also made a mini 14 in 44 mag
>>33950452
A man's 10/22. As I recall, the 10/22 was created as a companion to the .44 Magnum Carbine for cheaper training and familiarity of arms but became far and away more popular.
>>33952329
Yeah, that shit isn't going to batter the flimsy body of the Sub2000 even worse than it already does in 9mm Luger.
would there be a market for powerfull pistol caliber carbines?
I sure as hell would want one for deer hunting, but whats their advantage over ar 15s besides looks?
>>33952354
>As I recall, the 10/22 was created as a companion to the .44 Magnum Carbine for cheaper training and familiarity of arms but became far and away more popular.
I don't think that's true
>>33952329
the .357 in a .45 category is .38/.45 clerke. i knew a guy with a 1911 with a barrel fitted for it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.38/.45_Clerke
>>33952329
Would love to see how a 20 versus 20 in jungle would look.
One side armed with 240 rounds of 7.62x39 and typical AK, the other side armed with 480 rounds of .44mag equivalent select fire carbines.
I think sheer volume of fire and suppressive capability alone would win out.
>>33952344
topkek, it really looks like an overgrown 10/22 with those mags.
a 44 automag carbine would be sex.
or a 30 carbine one, just with some crazy hot 30 carbine ammo
i remember reading ages ago an article regarding wildcat cartridges. i recall somewhat the author talking about the seals having their armorers trying out different combinations with their sub guns. if i recall correctly, he was talking about how the secret service just adopted the 357 sig as their official pistol caliber and how 357 sig got an official nsn. he then talked about the seals' armorers filing down the chambers of an mp5 so that they could use 357 sig.
i mean it is doable. you could have a 10mm mp5, swap the barrel with a 9mm one, and rebore the chamber to fit a necked 10mm. from what i recall though, the author said they scrapped the idea when they went into trails with the mp7 and the ump. however i always thought it'd be a fucking awesome idea to have a kriss or something with a .45 acp and a .400 corbon barrel. shoot your 45 and then resize and neck down your spent casings so you could reload it for .400 corbon.
>>33950379
I own one, dummy
