Welcome to Month 2 anons! Come shoot the Sweet 16 with us!

>rules in pic

>You don't have to shoot with a duty/carry handgun, but you are encouraged to, this is the "limited" division and the heart and soul of our drills
>you are free to modify the rules to enable people with restrictive ranges or atypical handguns as long as you remain within the spirit.
>Shooting with an odd duck gun or unconventional gun is considered in the "open" division
>you may shoot these drills as many times as you want and are encouraged to post results with pictures and content

>these threads are designed to promote participation and meaningful training and practice
>we try to be a little more friendly here, but joking around and typical /k/ humor is welcome

A ez mode target for this is a stack of note cards stapled/taped to a piece of cardboard

"The goal of DOTM is to have fun and get people shooting. With that in mind, shoot this as much as you'd like and share your results. However, some of the drills we post have a certain spirit to them. We encourage you to keep to the intent of the drill, as that will provide you with the most information about your level of skill and thus provide an accurate baseline upon which to improve."

If you have actual B8s there are more concentric and larger exterior scoring rings not represented on the repair center - so shooting at the repair center is more challenging and punishing for errant rounds.

Nice work with the 10 yard start with the g19, definitely the gun you shoot the best!

Anyone else going to try a Hard Mode run Ironman style - no misses allowed, I'm going to start at 3 yards hah

HARDMODE RULES: Combine these rules with the base requirements for S16

Hard Mode Sweet 16:

Shooter will begin with a holstered pistol and with their hands at their sides/defensive position. Pistol is to be holstered in whatever you've got. However, if the holster is not concealed, subtract .5 sections from all PAR times; if the holster has a retention device, use the concealed PAR. On the signal, shooter will draw and fire one round at the 3x5 card and, if successful, move back 1 yard, 3 misses in a row constitute a washout/fail.

Score is furthest distance of a successful hit.

PAR TIMES:

- All shots within 7 yards: PAR of 2.0 seconds.
- All shots between 8 and 15 yards: PAR of 2.5 seconds.
- All shots between 16 and 25 yards: PAR of 3.0 seconds.
- All shots beyond 25 yards: PAR of 4.0 seconds

my current hardmode PB - 10 yard start, 9 hits, score of 18 points.

The weekend is upon us m8s, let's see some results!
>>
Who has the link to the proposed drill for next month? I forget its name but it used a B8 and had 3 starting distances and par times, I think it's an excellent drill choice but I'd love to hear everyone's opinions.
>>
>>33928525
sounds kinda like some larry vickers drill where you shoot 2 handed at 15, strong hand only at 10 yards, and weak hand only at 5??? can't remember what he calls it

i don't like it cause 5 yards WHO should be easy if you even remotely practice shooting that way.

What I do like:
200 pt aggregate
all strings at 25 yards on a B-8 repair center
no time limit
string 1: 10 rounds 2-handed
string 2: 5 rounds strong handed
string 3: 5 rounds "weak" handed

Different drill - the one an anon posted was something like
10 shots at 25 yards, 25 seconds
10 shots 15 yards, 15 seconds
10 shots 10 yards, 10 seconds
All from low ready on a B8 - xxx/300

I think we need to focus on simpler and more accessible drills for DOTM - 25 yards WHO on a b8 is pretty advanced marksmanship stuff and I don't think it would draw in "newer" shooters as well. Some folks have pointed out they don't even have access to 25 yard distances ;___;

That said I'm willing to shoot and pimp any drill the community feels works best for our needs.
>>
>>33928721
maybe it was the HiTS super test

15 yards....10 rounds 15 seconds
10 yards....10 rounds 10 seconds
05 yards....10 rounds 5 seconds

from the ready
>>
>>33928751
sounds about right - something like that should be accessible to just about every shooter, regardless of range rules

Easy to score
Easy to admire results
Low(ish) round count

Gotcha. I figured it out going through the archive for what you meant. I only started following the thread the last week of April.

>>33928291
Thanks! I tried again today cold and tied with my G19 and G43 at 14 yards. My goal is to get to 25 starting at the 10 yard line at least once this month.
>>
>>33932676
fuckin-a

we are glad to have you.

S16 isn't as popular so far as the FBI qual was last month, but myself and a few others are going to do our best to drag us through the month, your contributions are welcome and appreciated MM
>>
>>33932907
My dad has been shooting the drills with me. I can probably post some of his runs as well. If there is an interest. Won't be until tomorrow because I'm at work right now.

I'm trying to get my coworkers to shoot the drill as well, but they are all too normie to post on a South African skinwalker hunting image board. I will try and post their best tries at the end of the month.
>>
>>33933048
Do eeeeeit, collect all the scores you can and just post a quick run down of the gun used and the skill level/attributes of the shooter, the thread would benefit greatly.

I've got 2 noobguns friends I'm trying to get in on this one, one of them won't be able to make it past the 3 yard line but the other one might do pretty well!

Dude! You are the first Sig320 poster, welcome good shooting and congrats. Are your written distances your final scores? I ask because I'm trying to deduce you starting distance but it seems to be varied? Totally cool either way, just don't be afraid to list some specifics to help us all along
>>
>>33934882
I should have clarified. I started at 2 yards each time, the written distances are my final scores.
>>

Excellent anon, how did you find this drill? Was it useful for hold overs on a gradient and trigger prepping and bullseye shooting?
>>
>>33935207
>How did you find this drill?
I lurk on /k/ regularly, I check the catalog a couple times a week when I'm going down my checklist of bookmarks to keep updated on.

>Was it useful for hold overs on a gradient and trigger prepping and bullseye shooting?
What, what, and a little I suppose.
This is my first gun, I picked it up not two months ago and I'm working on fixing my recoil anticipation; this drill seemed to be pretty interesting and I think I'll stick around and try more drills as whoever makes these threads puts them out.
>>
>>33935613
>hold overs on a gradient

Basically the sight picture adjustments to maintain the same point of impact over a incrementally increasing range.

>trigger prepping

I've never shot a P320 but I imagine this is similar to most SFA - basically if you are going for a bullseye shot trigger prepping is all the clean up work you do to get to the point of breaking the shot. (take up accounted for, waiting on the wall)
>>
Going to shoot this tomorrow, hope the thread stays up.

This is my first time trying any kind of walkback drill so I'll assume yes is the correct answer.

I've been working on that on my own anyway, I don't think this drill hurt me any.

I'll probably advance into the Hard Mode sections when I finally get around to picking up my CCW and get more comfortable with drawing from a holster.

he truly is an amazing human bean, luv that dude
>>
>>33928124
Easy mode, all at one distance, shot at 25 then moved it back.
>>
Gonna shoot this tomorrow. Got some new trigger components in that I think may help me avoid throwing shots like I did.

I firmly believe all of my misses last time were trigger press related, not sight picture related. The only trigger easier for me to throw a pull on is a 1911.
>>
>>33943029
>>33938098
The 3 round cluster was a fluke btw.

I can't draw from my holster because of range rules, and I'm not moving it back 1 yard at a time because the RO calls cease fire every 15-20 minutes, and fuck shooting twice every half hour.
