/k/, do you know of a bolt action in .223 or 39mm that costs under $300?

or even better, a good .22 bolt action under $250?

I'm trying to find candidates for my first raifu that won't break my dirt poor wallet, and since I want to get into milsurps, I want it to be bolt action and not semi-auto

>39mm
Holy fuck, Anon.
>>
>>33921070
Also, OP, you can build an AR for ~400. I got an SKS last November for 300 even.
Just keep your eyes open for good deals.
>>
Now I want a 39mm bolt rifle really bad.
>>
>>33921070
I would into ARs and AKs if it wasn't for the fact that I live in CA
>>
>>33921070
Look for a Polish surplus WZ-48. Bud's Gun Shop has them for $200. I really like mine.

oh fug, 7.62x39, don't want a bolt action that can take down planes
>>
AFAIK the only bolt-action 7.62x39 (which is what I'm assuming you're alluding to) is the one CZ makes, and I doubt that's anywhere less than $600. You might get a used Mossberg .223 bolt-action used for around that but I'd be very surprised even if you looked hard.

the .22 bolt-action is easier, as you literally just go to any LGS that has a decent used rack and look for any old .22 boltgun; as long as it's in good condition (solid rifling, no rust) most older .22s (read: 70's and before) are perfectly good/accurate for anything anyone would realistically need and are often stupid cheap.
>>
>>33921104
>>33921118
Right? Fuck planes, OP, you could take down lightly armored fucking APCs and shit.
>>
>>33921128
To clarify, I meant you *might* find a Mossberg .223 for around $300, not $600 like the CZ. But again, I have to stress, I doubt it.
>>
>>33921128

I saw that cz, it looked real nice, but $700+, fuck that.

I will scour my local shops for .22s then I guess
>>
Savage makes some good offerings.

I know their MKII is a really good rifle and is generally sub $250. Also check Ruger's offerings, I know they make a .22lr bolt rifle that's pretty cheap too.

>Marlin xt-22
>>
Thanks for these suggestions guys, once I shoot enough with one of these, would it be good to finally get my own nugget?
>>
>>33921226
Yeah, but with the Savage Axis being around $300-$400 and having more cartridge commonality... I wouldn't bother with a nugget in this day and age.

.308 is a much better option than 54R.
>>
>>33921250
Agreed. OP, the day of nuggets is gone. Like 10 years ago it was $99 for rifle and $0.20 a round. Now the shittiest round bolt goes for $250+ and the shitty corrosive ammo is staying at around $0.40ish.
308 is just better at this point if you want to bulk-shoot a bolt action with a decent sized round.

damn, what is the best milsurp bolt action with cheap ammo then? might end up forgoing a bolt action milsurp and buying an sks eventually then
>>
>>33921385
M39. 54r is still the cheapest milsurp cartridge and with good ammo the m39 is much more accurate than an m48 at about the same price.

There are also some milsurp rifles rechambered in .308. None are particularly accurate but the ammo price is noticeably lower.

My all-british 1959 L1A1 is a milsurp rifle technically. I could have ordered it with a C&R, if I'm not mistaken.

Want a bolt action? Turn the gas off.

I bought a tube fed Marlin for 120 bucks new at Wal-Mart last year, its a fine shits and giggles gun and well under your price.
