/k/ommandos, I'm contemplating buying a blowgun. However, I can't decide between a .50 cal or a .625 cal model and I don't know which length I should get (four, five, or six feet). What do you guys suggest?

>buying a blow gun
>not carving your own from imported Tibetan bamboo
>implying a bunch of sperglords on a sumerian basket weaving form know anything about guns, much less of the blow variety

I blow my guns every day, I dont understand why would you need a specific one for that

4 foot, .50, single piece will be the best for normal backyard shenanigans. If you're hunting monkeys in Borneo get the 6 footer.

I'm being fucking serious. I thought you guys could help.

It's a Ukrainian horse deodorant forum you fucking silly willy.

Get one that has a stopper on the back so you can't inhale your darts

What if I want to hunt small game and target shoot? Should I go for the
.625 six footer or .50 six footer.
6 feet or go home.

Do you know if the Cold Steel .625 Big Bore has a stopper? I can't seem to find any information on it.

The .50 is plenty for squirrel and birds. Maybe if you're going for rabbit you will want the larger bore, otherwise it's just harder to blow desu.

I'd get a 62cal. Longer ones give you a little more time to accelerate it, and I'm all about more power.
My furthest hit on a bird was at about 30 yards. It's not like I hit it the first shot, but the silence of shooting makes them not get alarmed and fly away.

wrong pic, wanted to get the darts

How much does that fat fucker hurt? I wanna hunt gophers with a blow dart now
>>33919455
Anywhere from being vaccinated to stepping on a large ass nail.
If you want to hunt gophers with it, you better lace it with some sort of potent poison.

I've broken dry deer leg bones with it up close. It's fairly nasty and puts a lot of force into whatever it hits. It's very hard plastic and kindof heavy.
I mostly use it to knock down bird/wasp nests in sheds etc.
And I've used it to deter neighbor dogs without having to shoot them. I don't shoot them at anywhere near full strength, but enough to bruise and make sure they know my farmsite isn't a place they want to be.

Get a takedown model.
Go for two foot sections, that way you can switch between four and six feet as you want.
what kind of range do you guys think these have?
I think that the five foot .625 is the way to go. I've taken birds with a 3.5 foot .50 and homemade darts before but I would love to try something with more power and quality. Also wtf is this about a stopper, I've used a blowgun for years and never inhaled a dart, how would that happen?

The other anon was probably talking about the mouthpiece that comes on many commercial models of blowguns, including the Cold Steel Big Bore.

It depends on the length and diameter of the barrel. Longer barrel=more range
More diameter=more power
It's harder to effectively blow enough air through the larger blowguns, however. That's why most don't go above five feet.

Meant to say that effective range is probably around 30 yards.
