Now that mag fed shotguns exist, what's the point of tube fed shotguns?
>>
Low pressure loads.
>>
>>33887355
they have existed for decades you just didnt know about them. sears sold mag fed shotguns back in the 60s and 70s
>>
>>33887355
>what's the point of tube fed shotguns
a lot of people don't want a semi-auto shotgun. simple as that
>>
>>33887355
well Im pretty sure that a bulky magazine can cause some obstacles for example in hunting
>>
>>33887355
Easier to switch between loads, which is important for hunting and some fringe cases in military/law enforcement.
>>
>>33887374
There are mag fed pump action shotguns
>>
>>33887355
Don't shells deform over time if left in magazines?
>>
detachable box mag makes the gun bulkier by adding more size in the Y-Axis. Internal tube-mags are in-line with the gun, and always travel with it.
>>
>>33887466
>there are mag fed pump action shotguns
sure, but most detachable mag shotguns aren't pump. i don't even think a lot of people know they exist.
>>
>>33887518
Human ability to retain ignorance is truly stupendous.
>>
>>33887355
Now that you can buy a .223 semi auto magazine fed carbine for like $400 why get a shotgun out side of hunting?
>>
>>33887561
So you can remove watermelons you fun hating son of a bitch
>>
>>33887561
Clay shooting sports
>>
Leaving shells in mags for a long period of time can cause the plastic to deform.
>>
>>33887573
what if the watermelon is using plates?
>>
>>33887355
I don't want a foot long box hanging off the bottom of my shotgun for the same number of rounds as i can already fit in my tube fed shotgun

now if there was a reliable and compact drum style mag for auto loader shotgun then maybe
>>
>>33887578
With a fucking box mag shotgun?
>>
>>33887355
if you're barrel is gonna be 22 inches, why have your firearm stick out 6 inches from the bottom of it. plus i can quad load.

I have multiples of both and they are both functional platforms. I do prefer the Vepr though and the mag change is nice on those guns. However, they were wanting capacity matching a full tube. To me it makes more sense to run box mags and I run 8 rounders. Someone used to make an adapter to use rock in mags on the Vepr 12.

Carrying 50 loose shells in a bandolier is a lot more efficient than carrying 5 fuckhuge 10 round magazines.

Also the reload time of a tube fed shotgun and mag fed shotgun is negligible because if you aren't shooting, you're reloading.

Tubes make more sense for clay shooting where you just want 1 or 2 loaded any time. It's easier.
And even that is easily overcome by having something like pic related hanging at your hip to hold loose shells/mags. It's easy to load mags while they sit in the pouch with one hand.

>>
>>33887355

Tube fed guns are easier to point and swing around when you're shooting at birds

most states require a magazine plug to limit the gun to 2 in the tube and 1 in the chamber for hunting birds, so a magazine isn't practical.

Former Combat Engineer here, you can totally breach doors with standard shotgun and shells, it just increases the possibility of collateral damage. No. 9 birdshot will take care of wooden doors, buckshot or slugs will handle heavier doors. Only thing you really need a breaching shell for is padlocks. A standoff muzzle device is convenient but not necessary.
>>
>>33887976
most people in Iraq have hollow sheet metal doors made of thin mild steel, or wood.

we used what ever we could get to breech, with our captured shotguns.
