Did the war in Ukraine prove that any nation can go to war (and remain unharassed by the international community) as long as the troops it sends into combat don't have a national flag on their uniform?
>>
what are you talking about?
>>
Its more complex than that.
>>
Russian soldier never put foot in ukraine.
>>
>>33885475

It's a proxy war, same as Vietnam and Korea, just a proxy war for the 21st century.

>>33885498

Nah, they just sent Russia-only versions of tanks with no one to operate or maintain them.
>>
>>33885475
What are western sanctions against russia for 200 dollars please.

Russia has gotten a very, very bad reputation diplomatically because of Ukraine...
>>
>>33885763
I'm confused. Who shoots at each other then? People loyal to Russia and people loyal to Ukraine?
>>
>>33885475
Russia sent some advisors and volunteers, but the majority of separatists are Ukrainians who speak Russian. Quite a few former Ukrainian Army troops defected too.

>>33885504
They sent some T-72B3s, but they're similar to to the T-72B in operation. The Rebels also captured lots of T-64BVs from Ukrainian depots too.

>>33885799
Russia supports the rebels with advisors and spec ops, but the majority of the rebels are Ukrainians.
>>
>>33885799
No silly
Oligarkh forces grabbing other oligarkh property+soldiers+fanatics vs oligarkh mercenaries+fanatics
Ukrainian president sell weapons to DPR. Everyone except ordinary people benefits from this war. But who cares about ordinary people?
>>
>>33885847
It's always been like that in history

It's always better to fight than be a civilian cuck
>>
>>33885845
>>33885847

So now that a vague idea of who is known, how about the why.
>>
>>33885853
But it's obvious that Russia has nothing to do here.
They simply don't benefit by sending armed forces to Ukraine as much as oligarkhs who fight for money Russians sell weapons to both sides but that's it.
>>
>>33885863
The Ukrainian liberals overthrew the pro Russian government, they started bullying the Russian speakers.

Putin needed to teach them a lesson, I also think he will work up to taking all of the Ukraine.
>>
>>33885874

the pro Russian government practically deposed itself when they sent SMS messages to everyone saying "you're arrested for being outside pls stay in place while we muster someone who gives enough of a fuck to go and detain you"
>>
I think it's more like if you can kick everyone else ass on the playground nobody is going to bother you for bullying unless it's another bully.
>>
>>33885799
basically it's all a ruse by ukrainians to get other ukrainians to kill eachother for reasons unknown
>>
>>33885902
>for reasons unknown
Elite's money
>>
>>33885884
His mistake was that he basically fucked up the Ukrainian army so he wouldn't have to worry about a coup.

If he kept it functioning he could have suppressed the protests.
>>
>>33885763
KEEP POL ON POL
>>
>>33885763
>>33885498

>"Volunteers"

Nobody believed that shit when it happened in Korea, how can people believe this now?
>>
>>33885951
Because it's irrelevant

Russian Troops never constituted more than 2-5% of the Rebel Forces
>>
>>33885951
They're russian but they're not regular soldiers they're mercenaries
They got paid for this ( 5k$ month in 2014 avg )
>>
>>33885985
That's not true whatsoever

the majority of the rebels are ukrainians. Kiev is not as popular as the oligarchs tell you.
>>
>>33885874

Except administrative district of Kiev has has a (pretty much guaranteed to be FSB-financed) daily demonstration since year 2014 and nobody has harassed them yet. What you are spouting is official Russian propaganda, which is used to recruit "volunteers".

Lot of the Russian volunteers get very upset when they found that out that the particular part of propaganda is total BS and they were swindled into volunteering with lies. But when that happens they are already in Donesk or Luhansk and no longer exactly just allowed to leave.

Info from OSCE officer who has been observing the situation in Ukraine since year 2014 on both sides of the front.
>>
>>33885985
Damn, that's pretty good wages.
>>
>>33885998

The nationalists have harassed them, and the Kiev government had already started implementing anti Russian linguistic laws. The new Ukrainian government is incompetent, and it's economy is in the toilet. That is the source of the disconnect, not the FSB.

Your second point has no truth to it whatsoever. Pro Russian Ukrainian Rebels are proud to be fighting for their linguistic and cultural identity. Their achievement in brushing aside the inferior Ukrainian army gave them real pride too.

The OSCE is a western puppet organization, I have relatives who fought in Donetsk hohol.
>>
>>33885874
The rioters were in the right, the government deserved to be drop kicked
>>
>>33885966

Arguing about the percentages if meaningless, but at least early the percentage of Russian military must have been really high. Another thing worth noting: Not all troops are actual combat troops, hence what actually matters in the composition of troops that do the actual fighting.

Consider following: Practical experience from various armies shows that training troops to such level that they can reliably do unit-level tactics takes several months. Yet "Novorussian" had units capable of such after less than six weeks after starting of the whole conflict. So where did the already existing units with similar training, unit cohesion and rehearsed unit-level tactics come from?

Another observation from OSCE officer.
>>
>>33886038
The rioters should have been fired upon

they're idiot liberals and paid by the CIA
>>
>>33886002
Well it's probably in Russian Rubles so...
>>
>>33885996
Guess why there were no big battles in 2016? Mercenaries just don't receive their wages and khohols are too busy by fighting in inside war between oligarkhs and oligarkhs
>>
>>33886045
Sure the early days, the VDV was pulling the weight. Especially in Crimea. However it wasn't that difficult to fashion a militia and train them with help from advisors.

You're forgetting the large amount of Ukrainian army troops who defected to Russia. Obviously the militias were built around former servicemen.

Plus there were ex-servicemen, dual citizens and veterans from Afghanistan and the Soviet era
>>
>>33886054
Maybe, he used the symbol for dollars though.
>>
>>33886054
like 300 k russian rubles
>>
>>33886062
It's because Russia isn't trying to finish the job yet. The rebels are capable of holding against the Ukrainian army. I figured Russia might take Kiev after they're finished with Belarus.

They're waiting for a distraction
>>
>>33886016

You really should start checking your sources - unless are being paid to post propaganda of course. Ukraine's language legislation is from year 2012 - hence it predates the conflict.

Useful idiots (Russian volunteers for ideology) might be proud especially early on, but lot of them seem to be less then happy when they find out what kind of lies propaganda machinery has fed them. This is not theory, but observation from actual discussions with Russian volunteers.

Lot of the locals have joined because nowadays soldier is basically the only profession available in Donesk and Luhansk. Industry in there (including Europe's biggest steel mill) has not produced anything since 2014 and basically all businesses (except some taverns etc) have closed. There is no bank system of any kind and only money is cash (Russian rubles). Estimated 80% of the population from Donesk (and probably from Luhansk) have left the area, but there are no official figures since the local administrations set up do not have interest or resources to actually take care of civilian population in any real manner. There is no school system or healthcare left and for example pensions have not been paid since starting of conflict. Maybe biggest miracle of the war is how the remaining civilian population have succeeded in staying alive this long. Another factor is that both sides were very "liberal" in their use of artillery (like Grad MLRS), hence A LOT of civilians have died on both sides of front, which in turn inspired their relatives to join. And then there are mercenaries, private armies etc.

OSCE is the only neutral organization that actually has people in Ukraine observing the events and most of the time capable of getting access to see things that are usually hidden for propaganda purposes.

Did you know once the airliner was shot down, the wallets of its passengers all disappeared for a couple of days and then re-appeared as a single large pile (minus cash and credit cards)?
>>
Girkin admitted they never could muster enough local support, so most of the fighters in east Ukraine are volunteers sourced from Russian armed forces branches.

OSCE officer that I have mentioned before. First they were not allowed to the crash site, then when they got there all bodies were missing wallets, few days later all wallets were found all in a one large pile on crash site.

Theory is that FSB/GRU/etc went through the wallets checking identity documents and somebody in the chain command also cleaned them from cash and credit cards before dumping them back to crash site. Needless to say this made identifying the bodies (combined with delay) quite challenging.

>The Rebels also captured lots of T-64BVs from Ukrainian depots too.

They never captured any depots. There are no depots in Donetsk region except Artemovsk armored reserve.

When the war started, Strelkov tried to capture it, but 3rd special forces regiment of Ukraine stopped him and never allowed anyone to enter base.

After Strelkov left Slovyansk, the Artemovsk base equipment was moved by Ukrainian side to Kharkov, where they started repairing it. Around 70 T-64BV, BTR-70/80s and other equipment were taken.

Anyone who is still arguing about involvement of RuArmy in Ukraine in 2017 is legitimately retarded.

There WAS Russian army in Ukraine, it entered at 14 august, 2014 first. Near city of Krasniy Luch, where they clashed with 95th airborne and 30th mechanized brigades of Ukrainian armed forces.

After 14th august Russian forces were entering Ukraine constantly near Ilovaysk cauldron and Lugansk airport, near Novosvetlovka.

There were at least 4 battalion tactical groups in each sector. Including 6th tanks brigade equipped with T-72B3, Fighters from VDV divisions, 17 and 18th motor rifled brigades, 136th motor rifled brigade with T-90A tanks.

T-90A's were not used as frequently as T-72B3, only couple of times near Lugansk airport. Hence no damaged or destroyed ones were captured.

you mean the 4 months of the militia driving around in cars and shooting up some ukarinians in towns while they tried to get their shit together?

the realy frontline fighting with tanks and large units realy started in autum, the fighting in summer was pretty chill and comfy except for a few downed planes.

Winter was a stalemate until the feb 2015 peace talks.

There was no realy unit level tactics in the first few months unless you count drive bys and granade lobing over rooftops as some form of sophisticated warfare.

No, Ukrainians used tanks and artillery to surround Slovyansk and were shelling it constantly. Strelkov had tanks in Slavyansk already, 3-4 T-64BVs, couple of BMP-2 and captured BMD-1/2.

> the fighting in summer was pretty chill

Fighting for Saur Mogila, Shakhtarsk, Izvarino and other places was NOT chill. It all happened in july and august.

By 30th september Ukrainian group in Ilovaysk was destroyed and front collapsed, nothing major happened in autumn except Russians driving Ukrainian side from frontline before minsk agreement.

Btw. Ukrainian side was planning to capture part of Crimea during Russian operation.

It was planned that 5 IL-76 planes would drop 2 battalions of 79th airborne brigade to Crimea, airport where they planned to land was not captured by Russians yet. There was Ukrainian local regiment.

After 79th landing (without equipment) it was planned that 79th would capture Crimean - Ukrainian border and 95th with equipment along remaining of 79th would enter Crimea.

They would set checkpoints on main roads, secure perimeter and wait for mechanized forces to come.

It was planned that 1th and 17th tanks brigades would arrive along with several mechanized battalions. They would encircle Simferopol and take it instantly, because Russia didn't have any mechanized units there back in 2014.

Its unclear if they planned to do anything about Sevastopol though, reports from UA general staff indicate that they wanted to leave Sevastopol to Russian side and only take Simferopol if possible.

The plan was ready and Ukrainian side was preparing jets already, they received stop signal when planes were almost taking off from Nikolayev.

This war kinda looked like the Yugoslavian battles. Was there ever any air support? Everything i've seen is just infantry, tanks, artillery.
>>
>>33886599

There was air support, but Ukrainians stopped flying airforce after minsk-1. They used Su-25's near Ilovaysk 28th august where they lost one of them with number 08.

After 28 august and minsk-1 they tried to use UAAF only once in Debaltsevo, but didn't bother to, because cauldron was already ready

~30 Su-27 and Su-27UB
~47 Mig-29 (9-13)/MU1 and 9-12 (UB)
~25 Su-24M and MR
~6 Il-76 in 25th transport aircraft brigade
~20 An-30 and An-26
~30+ Mi-24P and Mi-24PU1

They are still recovering all kinds of jets from storages, not sure how much they want to reach in total.

Ukraine doesn't have Scud's, they were scrapped just like strategic aviation on USA orders.

Ukraine only has 9M79 Tochka-U and currently working on new ballistic missile system "Thunder-2" with 500km range.

>>33886588
oh realy? That would have escaleted everything probably forcing a full scale russian invasion which would have been very very bad for the ukrainians. Might be Putin hoped they would do that, giving him a good reason to roll tanks into Kiev and set up Yanukovitsch as a president again.
>>
>>33886681

Yeah, Russia can't invade fully now, but they could in 2014 when Ukrainian brigades had only 25-30% of people. It would be stupid to escalate things in Crimea with such army.

Russians would have reached Kiev from Kharkov side if Ukrainians went batshit on Crimea.

No. It facebook fantasies about alternative universe where Ukraine did not fucked everything up, those forces existed not only on paper and where they all were loyal to new government.
>>
>>33886689

I don't think Russia wants all of Ukraine. Just enough to be a pain in the backside to prevent them from joining EU/NATO
>>
>>33886698

Russians want all of Ukraine, its too strategic for Russia. Well, maybe except Lviv and Zakarpatye region.

But they never risked to occupy all of it in 2014 and would certainly not risk full scale war with Ukraine in 2017. They want, but they can't do it for obvious reasons.

Which means Russia will just use Donbass to destabilize Ukraine and try to push them to corner on Russia's terms.

Its not so critical for Russia right now because even in 2017 Ukraine still provides them helicopter engines. Since march 2017 Ukraine sold Russia more than 200 TVZ-117 engines.

They are dealing via proxy (Belarus).
>>
>>33886698
They wanted\needed Crimea. Everything else was a mistake. Too much propaganda and Strelkov with his goons began their crusade against evil-nazi-regime-that-will-defiantly-slaughter-all-Russians. And Kremlin found itself in his own trap. They can't support them because Europe/NATO will be furious and will do terrible things to Russian economy (that what happened). And they can't just leave them, because Russian population will be furious and will do terrible things to government. 3 millions of Russians in Crimea are economically justified. Everything else is not.

It is noteworthy that he never took any sides. Instead he just told quite openly what he had personally seen in Ukraine and answered questions.

It is known that nowadays Russian officials often see OSCE problematic, since its mere existence complicates things when it comes to arranging propaganda operations.

>depts

Anyway, as much as Putin wanted Crimea, that wasn't his only objective here. The people of Ukraine had thrown out his puppet and made an attempt at actual democracy isntead. And we sure as fuck can't have that. On top of the mortal personal insult, it might give some Russians ideas as well about, you know, wanting to exchange fear, corruption and Putin for a free, functional society. So to show everyone that such notions only lead to grief and anguish for you, Ukraine under this new management must fail, and fail hard. To this end military pressure is applied until Ukraine collapses completely, accepts one of his pets as ruler, or most likely both. (I'm not so sure there was no intention of not going past Crimea originally. But even if there wasn't, occupying Crimea would show the weakness of this new democratic regime.)

Annexing Crimea also gave him a military victory to wave around back home and whip up some jingoistic support for himself with.

Buying off Crimea, assuming the Ukranians would have been willing to sell it (I have my doubts) would have missed out on all of this, and cost him the Ukrainian gas debts or whatever else the agreed price would have ended up being.

Dude. It's a fucking crowdfunded war. In 2014-2015 border was not open, border didn't fucking exist. Anyone could pack their shit and go in. You can right now make a phone-call and arrange visit in that republics with supplies. Bring some thermals or even fucking child food or medicine and you're in. You can see literally everything, you can speak almost to anyone, because everything is crowdfunded and everyone is receiving help from anyone. Fucking Strelkov itself tells that RuMil are not fucking helping, that they are traitors e.t.c. Using that argument is an indicator that you don't even bother to lurk.

Are you some kind of retard? Moral is a concept of human relationships. Yes, but not since beginning. It began as not-Kremlin initiative. Russian military involvement is not targeted on occupying of NVR or even to helping them to win. It's not Russian war against Ukraine as buttmad khokhols tells.

There was a war in Serbia once where a lot of paramilitary guys involved in genociding some muslims. It attracted a UN peace keeping force. A no fly zone was established over the country by America and they bombed Serbian munitions stores. The Serbs responded by taking UN peace enforcers hostage and handcuffing them to munitions stores. Also they shot down an f-16 and a night hawk with some ingenious use of radar to circumvent stealth and radar tracking techniques.

There is more than one way for rigging elections. Nowadays Russian opposition leaders seem to either get sentenced in court of law (making impossible for them to run for president), end up dead by assassin whose will never be caught. This combined with basically all mass-media being either state-controlled or controlled by Putin's friendly origarchs has lead to what exists now.

Its not that there is no opposition, but Russian mass-media normally only mentions them when it tries to discredit them and if any opposition leader starts gaining popularity, he gets crushed in one way or another.

Majority of Russian do vote for Putin, but it is becuase:
1. Russian Mass media, troll factories etc keep blasting Russian population with propaganda about how he is single-handed saving Russia on daily bases.
2. Russian population is not really aware that there are either real options. If any opposition politician still succeeds gaining any popularity Russian mass-media will label him as criminal, foreign spy, pervert etc. If this still doesn't stop him, he is likely to have an "accident".
3. Lot of Russians (most?) still have the old Soviet mind-set, due to which they are afraid of getting mixed in politics.

And just in case "United Russia" is likely to again have some fake political parties supporting it posing as opposition parties in next federal assembly elections.

Donetsk is the industrial part of ukraine.
They have Armor/Weapons factories there.
Also what happened to the shitloads of soviet era weapons/armor?Did they vanish? No,there are fucking depos.
Also if youre a male Russian/ukrop and you dont have any military experience then youre a big exception.
The only russians that were there are guys who bought military shit and then went to donetsk or got equipped there.
There were fucking brazillians in the donetsk army,so is brazil invading ukraine?

Your only argument is that Russian did it and when someone asks for evidence you say "hurr everyone knows its true" or you post shit out of your reddit folder.

Sorry, but we dont fall for your lies and revionism, rebels had real problems in autunm 2014, even their leader complained about how they could not find 100 volunteers in 1 million people and if russia doesnt do something they whole thing would be over within months. Then spontanous "volunteers" popped up, tanks, APCs and AA that wasnt even in use in ukraine, ukraine army was shelled by russian artillery from within russia or them quickly scoop and shoot into ukraine. After all this time all we can see from people like you are the same lies, hoping you can confuse another uninformed with your propaganda lies.

There is so much stuff i dont even know where to start with:
-BUK 3_2 filmed and photographed on its way from Kursk base to ukraine border, popping up in rebel held territory, then a day later after MH-17 was shot down again filmed and photographed with one missile missing on its way back to the russian border.
-The BTR-82a that has been geolocated on google maps from a vid of rebels using in rebel territroy, which is only in use in the russian federation and planed to be sold to some asian country.
-Pantsir in Lugansk.
-"polite green men" in crimea.
-T72-b3 in rebel hands, a lot of other regular tanks filmed or photographed with markings in russia, which popped up in rebel hands.
-Burned marks on the ground fromrocket artillery in Russia showing they shot at Ukraine.
...

We have been through so much shit and evidence in the conflict and still all we can see from russians and their friends is the same lies all over again, like nothing ever happened and then they act insulted when they get attacked for such a pathetic behaviour. No wonder they have such a low reputation. They simply cant grasp how much credibility they lost through the conflict with that behaviour, be it with the lies and propaganda or the silent acceptance.

Yet it also depends on where you are. Western territories tend to have more polish-origin words in use. It goes to the East where you have Russian with funny ukrainian touches of saying "sho" instead of "chto" and other stuff. The most fucked stuff is from little villages - it's hard to explain, but any town dweller or simply any profound Russian/Ukrainian speakers would have their ears bleeding from this language.

Or the time they used a badly shopped satelitte photo to frame ukraine.
While the whole internet was already laughing about how badly it was faked, it was presented by russian first television with an "expert" telling it is real.
Just to give a few clues:
-the satelitte needs to be at below 50km to shot that photo with that proportions of the planes
-the backround was from a different year
-the writings on "MH17" were on the wrong place
-the "MH17" picture used to make the shop was the first picture that you get from "airliner from above" or something in russian from google picture search

But it is, it was exactly the same. Blatant lies spread to the public to achieve a political goal, in your case the complete destruction of a country and millions of ensuing deaths so politcal elite could stuff their pockets with oil money.

You are just such a cliche russian shill.
>>
>>33888870
http://edition.cnn.com/2013/03/19/opinion/iraq-war-oil-juhasz/
>"Of course it's about oil; we can't really deny that," said Gen. John Abizaid, former head of U.S. Central Command and Military Operations in Iraq, in 2007. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan agreed, writing in his memoir, "I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil."
>Then-Sen. and now Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the same in 2007: "People say we're not fighting for oil. Of course we are."
>For the first time in about 30 years, Western oil companies are exploring for and producing oil in Iraq from some of the world's largest oil fields and reaping enormous profit. And while the U.S. has also maintained a fairly consistent level of Iraq oil imports since the invasion, the benefits are not finding their way through Iraq's economy or society.
>In 1998, Kenneth Derr, then CEO of Chevron, said, "Iraq possesses huge reserves of oil and gas-reserves I'd love Chevron to have access to." Today it does.

>they also broadcasted it on prime time news on Channel One Russia
Meahwhile, in real life:
>The TV presenter Mikhail Leontiev claimed that the mysterious source who provided the images concluded they showed "how a Mig-29 fighter plane destroys the Boeing passenger plane".
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/535713/Moment-MH17-shot-down-over-Ukraine-Shock-new-images-released
>In November 2014, Leontyev wrote an article for Channel One Russia,[12] which presented an aerial photo claiming to show a jet fighter firing a missile at Malaysian Airlines Flight 17. This refuted the view, widely held in the West, that MH17 had been shot down by a BUK missile fired by Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine. The photo in Leontyev's article was analysed by contributors to the Bellingcat site,[13] who found it had been artificially constructed with photo manipulation software, and was not a genuine image of the incident.[14][15]

From the article you linked:
>China already buys nearly half the oil that Iraq produces, nearly 1.5 million barrels a day, and is angling for an even bigger share, bidding for a stake now owned by Exxon Mobil in one of Iraq’s largest oil fields.

>Headquarters Irving, Texas, U.S.

>Notably, what the Chinese are not doing is complaining. Unlike the executives of Western oil giants like Exxon Mobil, the Chinese happily accept the strict terms of Iraq’s oil contracts, which yield only minimal profits.
>China is more interested in energy to fuel its economy than profits to enrich its oil giants.

In real life we seen the videos from the broadcast you fucking, imbecile. What do you even know about this incident? All you do is showing how biased and uninformed you are. What consequences would it have for you if you were wrong? Non? What a big suprise, nothing we had seen for years. Thats the real fun with guys like you, you pop up, know nothing, get all cocky, scream proofs proofs proofs, then ignore it or get into hiding when geting presented with them. The truth is you are just another hypocrite, you are not interested in the truth, you are just shilling your propaganda here. You would mean after FUCKING YEARS of presenting the proofs and endless threads about them, there would be a change in the informational level, but no: It is always the same, always the same lies, always the same disinformation and propaganda. Seriously get fucked if you really think you are helping russia with that, all you are showing is that you are just a bunch of hypocrites deserving everything going into your direction. So, you've proven that you cannot read an article beyond the headline and disregard anything that goes against your childish opinion, but that's pretty much a given for an average human this days, thus it's nothing to be ashamed of, as long as you're willing to improve. Maybe one day you'll overcome this and learn how a middle men make profit and why being the largest buyer doesn't equate to making the most profit among the parties involved, but I think I've helped you enough already.
