I'm looking to buy my first pistol. I can't conceal carry so I might as well go with a full-sized.

I've been looking at the Beretta 92FS and its related variants. I like the aesthetic and the full-sized metal frame. I know the safety sucks but like I said, I won't be CCing anyway. I saw the WC 92G Brigadier, and I have the funds for it.

Good or bad idea? I am used to nice triggers, as I have a Geissele in my AR.
>>
Why can't you CC? Lieutenant Dan got no legs? They make concealment holsters for wheelchairs you know
>>
That's a good choice for a first full-size. Beretta 92s are always solid shooters.

Shooting full sized pistols is really fun btw. You're gonna love it.
>>
>>33884873
Very hard if not impossible where I live.
>>
>>33884748
>I know the safety sucks

Except it doesn't and it can be converted to a decocker only.
>>
>>33884892

Just carry anyway anon. What could go wrong? How often are you patted down? Lastly, what is your life worth to you?
>>
>>33885015
Would I get patted down?

I love my CZ-75 SP01, but if I had the funds I'd buy your pic related. It's pure sex.

Consider shopping around if you do decide to get the WC. I saw one for $800 used the other day.

A 92 was my first big boy pistol over 15 years ago. Have many more now but I was till like, shoot, and rely on the beretta.

its a g, so there is no safety; it's a decocker only. brig means a heftier slide that brings better recoil management.

it's not a bad choice. i love a 92. most people on here are gonna tell you to get a cz tho.

Do both and get an EAA Witness 9 with a 22 conversion kit.
Buds has them as a package for just over 400. Highly recommend it, one of the best triggers and greatest ergonomics you're going to get, both at that price and in general.

Beretta 92fs is good first gun. Ammo and mags will be cheap, lots of parts and now Wilson Combat upgrades you could add later. Has a few weak spots though: fat ass grip, 15rnd magazines factory, front sight CANNOT be replaced without a gunsmith or a lathe, double action pull for small hands can be difficult.
That being said I love mine and wouldn't trade it for the world. Can't wait for the warranty to expire so I can have the front sight cut for night sights. Added "D" spring, WC short trigger, and a WC low profile single sided safety lever. Once the finish is beat to shit probably get it redone in some obnoxious color scheme because never selling this bitch.

NIgga, more reciprocating mass does not "manage" recoil.

I went with the 92 Brigadier as my first handgun and I love it. Put in an order for some Samurai Edge custom grips for it, but the lead times on them right now are about 2 months, so it'll be a while on those.
>>
>>33885439
Yes higher capacity comes with the new a1 & Mec-Gar/Beretta 17/18/20+ are available. But regular swinging dick 92's come with fifteen which is insulting considering the huge ass grip.

The Brigadier slide is recognizable by its prominent swells on the side: its function is to reduce recoil and muzzle-jump, as well as to add to the pistol's durability

>>33885801
Yeah, I'm not sure how I would feel doing that to an Elite.

I know some people are autistic enough to have bought two Berettas to put an old 92FS frame on a new Brigadier slide so it's correct to the Samurai Edge, since new Brigadiers have a slanted dust cover instead of the older style straight dust cover.

I was lucky enough to find my Brigadier with it having the straight dust cover type frame already, so I don't have to fuck around with that if I want to do a 100% correct Samurai Edge build, which I'm probably gonna do.
>>
>>33885904
I'd go for authenticity if I had the money, but it's less for the dust cover and more for all the legislation on the FS frames.
Regardless, I'd want to get 100% accuracy but I'm pretty sure that the slide release and sights the Samurai Edge uses aren't real, which is a shame.

I hear they go for a ton these days, is that true? I've never seen one other than that, even online.

>I hear they go for a ton these days, is that true? I've never seen one other than that, even online.
they're definitely pricey. i've never actually seen one either, but i'd buy one whatever the cost. when those things become curios and relic status, they'll be worth their weight in platinum.
i'd imagine if anyone sold one, they'd price it like a medusa.

>Medusa

Is the reason we never see a multi-caliber factory pistol because they want consumers to buy more pistols? If I was an ammo manufacture producing such a thing might benefit obscure/snowflake ammo production
>>
So I'm saving up to buy one fo these things from a bikie gang (nofuns ausfag here) anything I should watch out for? like dodgy models, common points of wear or failure on these bad boys?

phillips and rogers weren't really manufacturers; one was a gunsmith, and the other was a nasa duderino. a lot of times it's just easier having the aftermarket claim conversion/barrel kits for their guns. phillips and rogers ended up selling the multi cal cylinders to companies and special orders to use in their wheel guns. you can still find those but still pretty pricey. and magnum research is the only company i know of that sold a full kit for anything.
>pic related

>>33886242
i'd stay away from s and d models, but that's just me. i really doubt there's too many down under; but if you find a g model buy it. other than typical pistol maintenance and wear; you're not gonna have too many issues with a used one.
>>
>>33886292
A few years ago I saw one of those Deagle kits on GB that had both the 6" and 10" barrels in .357, .44, and .50AE and the whole thing was gold plated including the extra barrels and the baseplates of all the extra magazines, it sold for about $2000. I'm sad I missed out on that considering how much just the Deagle itself costs.
>>
CZ 75 variant. 92's are okay but cumbersome and overpriced for the quality control.
>>
>>33886382
>92's cumbersome and overpriced for the quality control

I've heard more QC issues regarding flagship models about CZ than Beretta. They are similar price point, both accurate, one feels like sex and the other like jerking off an axe handle. Funny how the cz slide stop and Beretta locking block are the Achilles heel of each.

The locking block is not an achilles heel on the Beretta. It is a drop-in part that costs $15, and current generation locking blocks can go like 13k rounds before needing replacement.

You a collectorfag? I haven't owned that Elite for very long but I'm not too sure of the appeal other than rarity.
I'm almost considering selling it just so I can get a standard brig that I won't feel bad about fucking up with vidya memes.

>I haven't owned that Elite for very long but I'm not too sure of the appeal other than rarity.

Not him, but the Elite is notable for it's Brigadier slide. It had other options (beveled mag well, dovetail sights, G-type decocker, skeletonized hammer, steel trigger), however many of these features are either easily added with aftermarket parts or have become standard features in newer models.

As far as other collectors' 90-series go, it probably won't see a drastic mark up over say a regular Brigadier especially considering that the standard Elite was almost immediately upgraded to the Elite IA and Elite II.

I love my 92FS and 96FS. Ive put thousands of rounds of dirty ammo through both without either jamming and I can get good groupings out of both. Double action sucks but it's about as good as most other DAs and single action is better than a Sigs imo. I like them alot better than Glocks, but I would try both if you can because I think I'm a minority there.
>>
After literally sitting on /k/ for a year debating first pistol choice, I've concluded that after you educate yourself on the differences between guns, it really comes down to preference, and most of that is aesthetics.

If the 92 stands out to you and looks like something you'd enjoy having, then go for it.

My only advice is to do a thorough search of all the major producers and variants. Make sure that when you spend the money that in another week or two you won't change your mind.

it'll be in the same boat as a browning a5 sweet 16. the more valued ones are the redesigned ones. but if you keep one well maintained and minimal wear, they retain their value oh so well.

>I've concluded that after you educate yourself on the differences between guns, it really comes down to preference, and most of that is aesthetics.

>buy Glock 19

>buy ammo
>learn how to shoot it
>ignore being in the constant gun hopping loop and actually learn how to shoot

no memorizing trivial gun spec sheet bullshitty needed
