What are some good war movies that aren't anti-american, anti-military like hurt locker, but also aren't boring with copy-paste plots like act of valor?

I've been in the mood for only GOOD war movies.
>>
Recently: Fury and that new film from Mel Gibson.

Oldies: Can't go wrong with Black Hawk Down.

Platoon, Das Boot, Beasts of No Nation, Paths of Glory, Stalingrad (1993), The Beast of War, The Duellists, Zulu, Waterloo, Come and See and of course Apocalypse now.

Out of that list I'd heavily reccomend Stalingrad and Platoon for films about actually fighting a modern war. The rest are great movies, but most are only set during wars.

13 Hours is a good film, it did piss me off that they Murica'd the whole thing; the CIA blacksite was there to ensure the trafficking of weapons, not stop it, and the reason they couldnt get fast air support was because they had sold Stingers to local militias/AQ, and no politician (read: Hillary Clinton) wanted the awkward potential situation of US jets getting shot down by US supplied missiles in a country where no Americans were meant to be in the first place.
>>
>>33883568
Crimson Tide if you want a sub movie
Fury if you want good tank action
Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, Black Hawk Down are all good too
>>
>>33883568
Watched "In the Army Now" which is kinda a comedy on war but isn't Anti-War or Anti-American.

Pretty good feeling movie too.

Another would be "Stripes".

Basically most Comedies are kinda different from the Anti-Military and Anti-American sentiments while still being different enough from the constant Gung-Ho fiction.

Almost most war movies though have a real anti-military sentiment simply because regretting war is almost always the moral of the story.
>>
>>33883568
>anti-military like hurt locker
The Hurt Locker was anti military? I always interpreted the ending as the Staff Sgt. actually loved what he was doing more than the surreal boredom of civilian life
>>
There's a decent war movie in the middle of Forest Gump

It's hard to care about historical accuracy with authentic Shermans and a Tiger riding around.
I was grinning like a retard the whole time.

>I was grinning like a retard
probably because you are a retard. that movie was garbage
>>
>>33885336
Did you even read my post
I'm fully aware of that
>>
>>33883971
>>33885258

It was alright until the ending

I can suspend my disbelief that a sherman has a chance against a Tiger

but against hundreds of crack SS troops who had panzerfausts and AT grenades? nah that ruined the movie
>>
>>33885377
>I can suspend my disbelief that a sherman has a chance against a Tiger
The Tiger crew in the movie shit the bed hard so the engagement all in all was actually kinda silly but a platoon of late war Shermans totally can theoretically handle a Tiger
>>
>>33885410
I mean theoretically a late war sherman could handle a tiger

however is it the likely option considering how experienced the german crew would be? Not likely.

My main problem was with the ending anyway, you have to admit that was retarded
>>
>>33885422
>however is it the likely option considering how experienced the german crew would be?
Well seeing what they did in the scene it's hard to see how they didn't die from choking while breathing before they could even grow pubes in the first place.

>you have to admit that was retarded
no argument here
>>
>>33884547
>Watched "In the Army Now" which is kinda a comedy on war but isn't Anti-War or Anti-American.
>Pretty good feeling movie too.

This is literally the first time I've ever heard anyone unironically suggest this movie in any situation, regardless of context.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked it and all it's dumb fun.
