Can we get a 1911 thread? I'm wanting to buy a cheap one soon. So dump any pics you have of em. Anyone know if ATI or RIA or any other cheap brands are worth it?

Auto Ordnance
I bought 2 ati 1911s. Good guns. Not amazing like nighthawk or ed browns. But comparable to Springfield range officer
What are some essential upgrades to do?
I got the tritium tru-glo night sights. The blade sights are decent but aren't good for low light. Next is a little trigger work. But all in all gets batter as you shoot it.

They are shit
>>33881201
1911 thread or cringe thread? You decide.
Got to shoot this baby today. 1911 Wiley Clapp
Had a ati titan fx45 for carry. I liked it well better than my friend''s colt compact model.

No, they're not
Im looking for a good 1911 around the $800 mark.
It has to be on the cuck roster so no Ruger, Smith and Wesson, or Colt.
Is there anything around that price beside the Springfield available in ca? Not too happy about the shit Springfield pulled, but I honestly think not buying their guns isn't going to change anything, I'd just feel a little dirty owning one.
And if I do spring for the springfield, what does the loaded have over the Mil-spec? I'm one of those fags that's off-put by the grooves at the front of the slide, I think they kill the flow, and I'm never gonna use them. Is it feasible to mount all the parts (trigger, beavertail, mainspring, etc) on a milspec to bring it up to par with a loaded? Or will it never shoot like one no matter the parts, because I heard the parts on a loaded have a tighter fit than the mil-spec? One thing I definitely want in a 1911 is a tight slide and trigger with no or minimal wiggle.
Or should I just save up and get a Kimber?
>>33883001
>Save up an get a kimber
Might as well just get a Colt man.
Get a C&R, and a real 1911
>>33883001
Go Nighthawk Custom
>>33881201
RIA is definitely worth it, as long as you just want it to work and don't need it to look perfect. Their GI sights suck, so get one with the tactical or fiber optic sights.

Nothing is "essential." A brass or gold bead front sight is nice. A trigger is easy to do yourself. Actually a set of trigger channel stones so you can do your own trigger jobs may be a good investment.
BUILD IT
>>33883268
don't do this if you enjoy shooting and/or hitting things when you shoot.
Anyone have experience with bead blasting stainless 1911's? Feel in love with a Colt Competition .45 but I'm not a big fan of brushed finishes especially how they always make the dust cover look like shit.
>>33885359
IMO they look better duracoated.
Are RIA's single stack 10mms good? I need a slimmer carry gun.

I wanted either a gold cup or a government, but colt fell off the roster for 2017. And I really don't want to get ripped off and buy a ridiculously overpriced one through PPT, so unfortunately colt is out of the picture.
>>33883289
That's Les Bauer tier money. I don't want to spend more than $1000

Fuck, I'd hate to recommend springshit but they do make a decent gun. What features do you need? It is almost always more cost effective to buy one with the parts already installed. The mainspring housing is a cheap drop-in part, and if the trigger is sloppy you can get a new one and sand it down to fit. Beavertail and sights are gunsmith jobs. The loaded will have the same fit as the mil-spec, you're just getting more features that you may or may not need. Don't get a Kimber, they are fucking tacky. Have you looked at STI?
Are rock islands any good? They kinda look like those cheap cookie cutter Chinese/Brazilian 1911's that you can get for $300
>>33885837
Yep, I agree. It's just that in CA we have a very limited selection of 1911's due to the doj roster of Clinton approved handguns and every year it seems to get smaller, just this year even Colt fell off the roster. I could not believe it, I was waiting for my tax return to buy a colt government and then boom, no more colt.
It seems springshit has the market cornered over here with reliable but affordable colt-like 1911's. The next best thing is gonna run you well over $1000 and the cheaper ones take a massive dip in quality.
Unfortunately STI is a no-go here.
I've got an old colt government slide+barrel, does anyone know a good place online to buy a full 1911 "lower receiver"? I'm guessing that's what the lower frame+internals would be called.

I believe Caspian is what most people use. It's no simple process, do your googles. Check out mosinvirus on youtube for inspiration.
>>33885839
They're made on a laser cookie cutter.
realtalk, I've had a good experience with mine.
>>33885925
What about the Ruger 1911? I've heard they aren't too bad.
>>33886281
The SR1911 is a good basic SR70 .45ACP/stainless option, with no Springfield lock. I don't know if it's Cali legal.
>>33881201
Here's a nickel. Go buy yourself a better gun.
>>33888851
>t. HiPoint marketing department
The Ruger SR1911s are looking pretty good at $680. I really don't like the look of a lot of Ruger's products, I know it's all mechanically rock-solid, but these look good.
>>33881201
Gonna need a source for those grips, Dude. I'm not privvy to this new shit.
>>33885266
Noting that PSA parts are mostly Wilson Combat parts, this is not a bad idea. The only problem is that someone with no experience should expect to fuck up hand fitting every part at least once.
Is para ordnance dead? Why does no one ever being them up in 1911 threads? They are good to go if they're on your roster.
>>33889349
They aren't popular with the vocal poorfags or richfags.

Been looking at that. Good choice for a first 1911? Intend to use it as a range toy mostly, but maybe a nightstand gun too.
Buy a CZ, faggot
