I was thinking about stealth fighters and stealth bombers, and there's a pretty big limitation about all of them - the weapons they use aren't stealthy. You may not be able to see or detect an incoming stealth bomber but you will be able to see and detect the bombs and missiles they launch, from the trails and explosions they leave behind.
My thinking here is, why not develop stealth bombs? Bombs that don't trigger a visual explosion or emit any explosion sounds, but still do their damage? With a stealth bomb that doesn't emit any sound or light or heat you could start bombing a target without the target ever being aware that they're under attack - a true 'stealth' bombing. Why hasn't there been any serious thought on this topic?

This is bait.

You mean chemical weapons?

Literally JSOW.

does it create a visible or audible explosion on impact? That's the thing I'm trying to avoid
>>33879529
Are you retarded? There is no fucking stealth bomb that doesn't make any noise or light.
That's impossible.
Jesus can make it so that retards have to answer a few basic physics questions before they're allowed to post?

Two hundred years ago they would have thought the AR-15 was an impossibility. Science has a way of making the impossible suddenly possible.
>>33879529
don't think you understand how stealth works... make a large radar signal look like a small one so a stealth bomber looks like a single prop plane when it gets pinged on radar.
ok, bait, but...
you could drop bombs with time delay fuzes
wait 5 minutes to blow after impact, long enough to boogey on out of there
>>33879750
you could have explained how it all works and people 200 years ago would understand the concepts behind it
>Bombs that don't trigger a visual explosion or emit any explosion sounds
Sure, why don't we make them eco-friendly and carbon neutral, too? While we're at it we can make sure they come from fair trade differently-abled single transmoms.
>>33879683
>does it create a visible or audible explosion on impact?
No. But who cares? Bomber would be 300 miles away during impact.

>While we're at it we can make sure they come from fair trade differently-abled single transmoms.
top jej

No they wouldn't have.
You're asking is there away to violate the laws of physics.
No there isn't.
Where the fuck do you think the destructive energy comes from in a bomb?
Oh that's right, LIGHT, HEAT AND AIR PRESSURE!
That's what a bomb is.
Better yet, when are we going to have munitions that make different shapes in the dust and shit when they explode? Like a giant dick or middle finger?

Actually, OP has a point. It's one of the reason's why the Air Force is trying to fit a big honking laser onto a C-130 spectre.
http://breakingdefense.com/2017/03/afsoc-expects-c-130-laser-tests-within-year/
>Why does AFSOC want a laser on the gunship? Heithold put it clearly: “The reason that I want it on an AC-130 is, right now, when an AC-130 starts firing kinetic weaponry, everybody knows you’re there. What I want on the airplane is to be able to silently disable something.”

>>Two hundred years ago they would have thought the AR-15 was an impossibility.
No, not really. The AR-15 does not violate any understanding of the physics they had.
>>33880022
yeah, but you want the ability to bomb something without the target ever being aware they were actually bombed
with this sort of weapon you could conceivably completely destroy an enemy military without that military being aware it was under attack
This fucking thread
Way ahead of you OP, lazy dog flechettes and concrete bombs with guidance kits exist
>>33880161
thats fucking spooky when you think about.
>YFW you and your buddys start melting and burning due to somthing you cant even see.
>>33881678
Interesting premise.
It seems to me that it would be difficult to verify that these weapons are not already in use.
Have you been bombed? Have I? How can we tell?
