At the very beginning of the clip, the battleship is well within effective fire range of the alien thing, but it does not open fire until 1:45, thus wasting an entire minute and three quarters of time that it could have been shooting, with both primary and secondary guns. Of all the things wrong with the movie, this is what bothers me the most for some reason.

Anything before Black Hawk Down. Before then Hollywood only incidentally paid attention to accuracy and weapons handling. BHD set a new standard employing many consultants including some of the guys who lived it. Since then the movies that pay attention to the details are pretty good and that makes the ones who don't look pretty terrible.

Its not a joke. The girl that does not use sights and waves two guns at random actually is implanted with neural link to godlike AI thats monitoring the building. For all intents and purposes she counts as transhuman cyborg.

Her actions make sense in this context - she does not do the aiming herself, she just moves the gun in arcs, and said omniscient AI continuously calculates where the guns are pointed. At the moment when gun is pointed at the enemy, she gets a jolt and pulls the trigger.

Its the literall aimbot cheat. As long as she has contact with AI , and AI has a way of monitoring her surroundings, she can accurately shoot through walls, doors etc. She does not aim, because the aiming part is literally done by a machine outside her head. Only part that matter on meat part is to maintain consistent trigger work with every shot.

Thats transhumanism for you. Hope this explains things.
>>
>>33874228
>No 4 T
Not the anon you're responding to, but the No. 4 is basically a SMLE. They just changed how the rifles were named and updated it a bit.

I think what he meant was that the Enfields were more in line with the modern DMR role rather than a true precision rifle in the modern sense. There's a reason Hathcock used an M2 around the same time.
>>
>>33874532
I call bullshit.

There's no way this isn't a joke in some shit show that's being ironic about everyone it does- I'm looking at you Angie Tribeca or any live action show on Adult Swim's line up.

Mostly I call bullshit because it wouldn't explain why she and the chick she's with calmly walk across the hallway. Also you're a faggot who's full of shit.
>>
>>33874584
The show he's talking about is Person of Interest.

He's basically correct about the AI aimbot, though I don't think it shocks her, just tells her when to pull the trigger and accounts for reaction time in its calculations.

Still a little ridiculous though.

>>
>>33872428

I think its more of why in the fuck would you switch from a weapon with fucking magnification for a heavy as shit mg not designed for precision shooting. Not gonna look it up but I wouldn't doubt the Bren is the same caliber as an Enfield and giving up for a borderline similar caliber, if different, is a equal trade off for magnification. Also people just heading in one flank no fire support straight towards a fortified enemy is a turkey shoot.

I'm guessing the fat fuck in the white suit was the financial backer of the attackers so I see no problem with the decision to retreat.

Why? It was probably the only thing in there that actually happened before.

>Hathcock and John Roland Burke, his spotter, were stalking the enemy sniper in the jungle near Hill 55, the firebase from which Hathcock was operating, southwest of Da Nang. The sniper, known only as the "Cobra," had already killed several Marines and was believed to have been sent specifically to kill Hathcock. When Hathcock saw a flash of light (light reflecting off the enemy sniper's scope) in the bushes, he fired at it, shooting through the scope and killing the sniper. Surveying the situation, Hathcock concluded that the only feasible way he could have put the bullet straight down the enemy's scope, through his eye, would have been if both snipers were zeroing in on each other at the same time, which gave him only a few seconds to act, and Hathcock fired first.

>Battleship

It's funny, this movie was made bad on purpose - and you can actually still see it if you pay attention. From the initial concept we can see that this was supposed to be either a "humans are the bad guys" or "morally grey" movie .This didn't happen though because the Navy paid a lot of money by way of advertisements (the movie is literally one giant advertisement for the Navy), and the producers had to capitulate to this - coupled with them simply wanting to try and cash in on a Bayformers rip-off.

The movie though was supposed to be about a group of fleeing aliens (we actually see this), from an oppressive government. Then through no fault of their own - we start attacking them. This forces them to defend themselves. However because of the aforementioned outside meddling, this narrative was pushed to the bottom of the film through editing and rewrites.

You can still see it though, as I said before, you just have to pay very close attention. Not a good movie either way, but it certainly could have been more interesting.

It will drop by close to 6 feet from muzzle, that's sort of significant. The elevation difference also matters but I'm not gonna bother calculating it right now.
But he overestimates how little 5° really is. When you hit the objective lens at that angle, then even if the bullet impacts the inside of the tube, it will just direct the bullet into the ocular and into the eye, it's just too shallow an angle for an ogival FMJ bullet to penetrate, especially when it impacts a smooth metal surface like the inside of a tube.

Let's say the guy was on the smaller side, weight 150. Remove the legs, and thats about 50lbs. Significant blood loss, another 5lbs. Most of his internal organs fall out, another 25 lbs.

So the body might weigh as little as 70lbs. Maybe less if the guy was smaller still, plus he lose more than just his legs, he might be missing all of his hip bones and a bunch of his spine.

Also the way he is being held distributes the weight down the forearm, creating a lever.

I think a strong man could do this. The less believable part is hitting anything with a BAR one handed.

Wow actually watching the scene it's so much worse than I remember:

Non of the PMCs know how to shoot, none of their guns have stocks or the collapsible stocks extended, the enemy sniper literally hangs out the window at one point, the enemy out-shoots all of the good guys easily, and the .50 seems almost to be outranged by the Dragunov as it constantly hits low.

The scene was fucking awful, hell, the whole movie was but the idea that the .50 was "outranged" because it was hitting low is even more retarded.

The low hit is far more easily attributed to the scope being zeroed at a distance shorter than they were actually shooting, shooter error due to stress, or consciously shooting low so as to quickly know the offset of POI from POA (in order to use Kentucky windage) at the given distance instead of diddling around estimating range with the reticle and adjusting for conditions with the turrets in the hope of getting a cold bore shot with a rifle that is only guaranteed to 1.5 MOA in perfect conditions with match ammo (which is not precise at all for a long range rifle) let alone the dramatically less precise results people get when they load it with machine gun ammo as the PMC guy probably did.

First of all, it's very unlikely that anyone could shoot a ricochet like that. Even less so if the target is really far away. And if the target was close enough the gun would be too close to enemy without being spotted and taken out in turn.

Also, the chain reaction of the explosions is stupid. Military grade explosives do not explode that easily. You would have to set the stuff on fire to make it "explode", unless it was a direct hit and even then it would be up to chance if the explosives or ammunition would "explode". And even then only large caliber shells would be really of any danger. And if you set TNT on fire in an open space, it just burns intensively.

That is probably the most ridiculous scene I have ever seen in a war movie, including the Hacksaw Ridge Rambo.

It wasn't explained at all in the movie, but that model of pistol had issues feeding ammo if the magazines were handled too rough and the feed lips got damaged.

Goeth being frustrated is why he just kept racking and firing. I've done that with shoddy firearms before, and thats without being in a jews vicinity which cant help things
