The Philippines. And I think he means new ones. It's not like we can go buy M16A1s surplus. The best we can do is a surplus parts kit mated to a semiauto AR lower receiver. The closest we can get is a K1, and don't get me wrong, they're nice rifles, but not exactly cheap.

Isn't every conceivable patent expired on the Mauser action? What's stopping someone from setting up shop cranking out dime a dozen Mausers? Modern machining and mass production, with cheap polymer stocks, you could sell them under $200.

The mauser still requires precision machining. the only thing that would conceivably lower the price is the spped at which CNC.s operate, and the lowered cost of quality steels. Even with that the price wouldnt be anywhere close to 200$. Go and look at all the guns that are around your price point and see what they're made of. ZAMAK, shit plastics, and basically dirt ass steel.
