Alright /k/, this is a serious question. How dangerous is the PTRS? I'm looking into buying one and maybe, using to hunt large game or for anti bear protection and can I make my own custom rounds like a hollow point?

Check your states laws on maximum case diameter for sporting purposes.

It's an anti-tank rifle. It will thoroughly fuck up any living thing including cape buffalo and rhinos. Also you're not going to haul that heavy son of a bitch all through the woods to defend against bears.
>>
>>33851957
I live fairly close to mountains so I was planning to build a small house there as a contingency plan and dragging the gun there and setting up. It seems like a good idea in theory
>>
>>33852011
And what, pray tell, are you going to be near to warrant a response requiring an anti-tank rifle?
>>
>>33852083

Panzers.
>>
>>33852083
>>33852105
And BLM protests or home defense.
>>
>>33852105
Panzers are going to go out of their way on unstable ground and climb a mountain just for you?
>>
>>33852148
Yes. They're ferocious, even if you keep distance and back away.

Imagine an sks.

Now imagine it bigger. And you have a ptrs.
>>
>>33853005
So hypothetically, if I can't find a PTRS on the market, I could build one using the same lay out of a SKS?
>>
>>33853024
An sks is a scaled down ptrs.

There are differences of course. But overall, yes scaling up an sks is a ptrs.

In my opinion I think the ptrd is a lot more practical. I know it's a fucking pipe, but still.
>>
>>33853024
Sure. But you will probably kill yourself doing it.

Y yes anon
A ptrs Is perfect for large game
>>
>>33853067
>>33853078
I just need to know if it's possible using an SKS lay out and tweaking during every failure
>>
>>33853119
That's all the convincing I need.
>>
>>33853143
Yes.

If you have the skills and equipment, a scaled up sks is a ptrs. save a few differences.

Speaking of homemade guns, anyone think a full auto, 12 gauge reciprocating barrel blow forward Shotgun made entirely of commonly avaliable parts sounds cool?

Figure it out OP.

I kek'd, mostly because I live in Baltimore and I keep a Vepr 54r as my home defense anti-chimpout piece.

182 grain softpoints should be good to stop deshawn, tyrone, jamal, and latrell in their tracks
>>
>>33853223
Technically in Finland too. It would probably be considered to have "unnecessarily amount of firepower" for basically anything you can think of applying it for but in the end it's up to the police who's processing you'r license.
>>
>>33856398
In Canada, it's just Non Restricted. You could shoot one on your property, but not a .22 pistol.

>>33858674
By finnish law it's just a self-loading rifle. You'll need pretty good persuasion level to convince the authorities that you need a 14,5mm semiauto, but when you've managed to do so it's no problem.
>>
>>33866726

>How dangerous is the PTRS?

You might hurt your back trying to carry it, and I wouldn't fire it without double hearing protection.
>>
>>33866747
You have to apply for every gun and you need to mention a sport or other use you're applying it for. Not a big deal.
>>
>>33866802
Dude, fuck that. If it's non-restricted, then it's none of their business. I could buy 10 rifles tomorrow and not have to justify a damn thing to the cops. I passed the safety course and their background checks. Anything beyond that is 100% bullshit.
>>
>>33851899

If you're getting an anti-tank rifle for some crazy SHTF situation, why not get something like a barrett instead? Similar weight and energy, but it uses a way more common round.
