You'll realistically notice it, I did with a 4x acog anyway. Just looks like a slight blur at the bottom of your view. You actually can grind your front sight down into a low profile gas block and then buy like an ALG rail or something to go over it. I've done that in the past when I was short on cash. Not the "Gucci" way to fly, but it does work. You can find a ton of videos and shit on people that have gone that route as well.

I'd say realistically you're going to want a rail at some point anyway, so it might not be a bad idea to start thinking about that now anyway.

Supplementary pic related. The thin wood under the rear action screw is typically what breaks if overtightened, you can see how thin it is through the rear pillar. So I drilled holes into the side walls and filled it all in with JB weld and aluminum pillars. The JB weld seeps into the sidewall holes to spread the load, and the middle action screw also rides on JB weld so that the action is not just supported by the rear action screw alone. I did a shit bedding job at the same time so that there won't be any pressure points to start a crack, the action doesn't rock in the stock anymore.
