Is a 12 mile hike like this really considered to be "torturous"? Most I usually hike is from this chair to the fridge in a singlet and shorts so I wouldn't know.

Easy AF. Believe me. 12 years in the military and never broke a sweat during that time.

So stunning and brave. It takes a real woman to endure such a torturous trek over 12 miles of rough terrain.

Jogging 12 miles under 3 hours with a 40lbs minimum load sounds like something you'd train for. The current record is 1 hour and 42 minutes, that's pretty impressive.

>so I wouldn't know
If this guy could do it, you should be ok

Not torturous, but definitely strenuous.

It's the bare minimum.
If you can't endure a 12 mile hike you absolutely shouldn't be in the military.

I walked 6 miles from my home to my friend's house back in high school. Wasn't bad at all, but I forgot my hat so I ended up with some sunburn on my face.

>singlet and shorts
Why pack so much extra weight? I walk around naked, it's amazing how much extra effort that saves.

happy I went to college
I've no trouble walking that much if I'm on holidays in some interesting city (most I did was like 43 km in one day, walking around Copenhagen), but I could see it being a great deal less pleasant if you're stuck with heavy gear and uniform instead of shorts and a shirt, clumsy military boots instead of comfy sneakers, with poor weather and a time frame to accomplish it in rather than drifting from attraction to pub to attraction.

Isn't a loaded up hike like this done at a somewhat later stage of the training, though? Or do they no longer exercise in the army or something?
