To think I could have bought a $200 stick, a can of 440 rounds for less than $100 and shoot ~100 rounds an incredibly fun range session and only really spend about $30 that includes range fees makes me sad because I now know I can't do it.

Also the M44 doesn't recoil that bad as most people say it is. I might buy a 7.62x39 scout rifle one of these days to remedy this empty feeling.

>>
>>33832226
Yes, it was nice that for a while there were unique, impermanent economic and political conditions that created a bubble in which a perfectly serviceable milsurp rifle was available at a remarkably cheap price. Bubbles like that happen from time to time. In fact, we're probably in or close to an AR bubble right now - the panic buying leading up to the election meant that manufacturers pumped out a huge amount of supply anticipating continued hoarding, but when Trump won the election the panic died off and now there's a glut in the market, making prices cheap. Like all bubbles, this will self-correct eventually. The glut will get soaked up by demand sooner or later; meanwhile some manufacturers will get out of the AR market or will go out of business entirely. At that point, prices will stabilize.

Which is all a long way around of saying: forget what happened in the last bubble; concentrate on finding deals in the present bubble instead.

Blaming /k/ for the increase in surplus prices is about as bad as getting angry at Battlefield 1 for driving more people to buy surplus. More gun owners is a good thing, but the autists here would rather bitch that they can't get cheap surplus to take pictures of for the shitpost and tripfag filled circlejerk generals on this goddamn Cantonese moving picture forum.
>>
>>33832257
>but the autists here would rather bitch that they can't get cheap surplus to take pictures of for the shitpost and tripfag filled circlejerk generals on this goddamn Cantonese moving picture forum.
And again, why complain about that when ARs are dirt cheap right now? They're cheaper than they've ever been, and like I said, they're probably cheaper than they're going to be a couple of years from now once the post-election shock is over and prices have stabilized.
>>
>>33832255
Surely the current situation extends to all guns, not just ARs.
>>
>>33832226
>Now calm down shitpost with us
Fuck off, shitposting is not a fun activity for the whole community to participate in. Shitposting is something that should be looked down upon for causing on-topic threads (which this one barely is) to get pushed off of the board in favor of "GUISE MOSINS COST $200 THAT'S LIKE A YEAR'S WORTH OF ALLOWANCE" type threads.
>>
>>33832210

With shotguns, you don't need to aim. With pistols, you can aim really easily.
>>
>>33832035
You can still get m39s for $300 and they're a hell of a lot better than 19/30s or m44s.

I'm getting the feeling that there are no cheap rifles that shoot a big boy cartridge in America. Is this true?
>>
>>33832316
>>33832324
Oh come on, it's common sense. An AR is too unwieldy to be useful in frantic situations. You're asking to get your barrel grabbed from around a corner. A pistol is much more manuverable, while a shotgun requires no aiming and will go through house cover just fine.
>>
>>33832339
So your 26inch barrel field gun is alright for home defense but my 16 inch AR isn't? Here's a fun experiment. Get yourself a minimum length rifle, 26 inches over all, 16 inch barrel. Shoulder it and look at how far the barrel sticks out in front of you. Now hold a pistol at full extension. There's not a lot of difference.
>BUT MUH CORNERS!
If you really feel the need to tactically eliminate dindus then you should know you shouldn't be standing that close to the corner in the first place
>BUT MUH DOORWAYS
Stop standing in choke points, move through the door and do not loiter
>>
>>33832275
>Surely the current situation extends to all guns, not just ARs.
Well, sort of. I don't think there was really all that much panic buying of what /k/ would call "fudd guns". For example, I doubt too many people were out filling their closets with Henry Long Rangers before Hillary decided to take them away and then Civil War 2.0 started. The bubble probably affects all guns to some degree, but I'm pretty sure it hit a certain class of guns more than others. That's the class you've been seeing drastically drop in price lately.

Speaking of the topic of this thread, that's why prices on milsurps haven't dropped in the past six months, and in fact have kept up the steady rise we've seen over the past five years or do. I don't expect that trend to reverse itself. I'd also guess that some manufacturers will drop or cut back on production of ARs and other guns that saw a lot of hoarding, and there's a good chance they'll refocus to some degree on mid-to-high end fudd guns, which is a market that isn't saturated and where a decent profit margin can still be made. Wood is the future.
>>
>>33832327
Ruger American, memey nugget, any single shot break action, rifled shotgun loaded with slugs. If you're looking to make big holes in things there are options. If you're trying to shoot long range then you shouldn't be buying cheap.
>>
>>33832327
>I'm getting the feeling that there are no cheap rifles that shoot a big boy cartridge in America. Is this true?
Define "big boy cartridge", and define "cheap".

With shotguns, you don't need to shoulder them to be effective in close quarters. Hip shooting is perfectly viable. That completely negates the length that a stock adds. With pistols, they are still shorter at full extension, and you can use the CAR stance to dramatically shorten it even further.
>>
>>33832372
7.62 anything. $100 dollars.
>>
>>33832393
Have you ever fired your shotgun from the hip? Oh right, you don't have one.
>>
>>33832397

>7.62 anything. $100 dollars.
Shit, I knew that /k/ was a bunch of cheapskates who had "champagne tastes and a beer budget" when it comes to guns, but I didn't think it was this bad. A hundred bucks? For an actual operating firearm? Much less one that's 1) new and 2) won't explode in your hand? Yeah - not happening. In any caliber.
>>
>>33832035
price fluctuation don't change the fact that your mosin nugget is pure shit

if that slav trash was priced correctly, it would be at negative dollars AKA you'd have to pay people to get rid of it

lucky for mosin nugget merchants, there is an influx of slavaboos from /k/... what a bunch of fucking losers we have on this board
>>
>>33832412
It's literally easier to fire an AR-15 braced off your balls or nose then it is to fire a shotgun from the hip.
>>
>>33832426
But you can but some really functional power tools for $100, which are undoubtedly just as complicated and designed for equally as high forces as a firearm.

I suppose there are lost legal costs and such that drive up the price.
>>
>>33832396
>7.62 anything. $100 dollars.
You can get a cheapshit Turkish-made Walmart break-top single-shot shotgun that kicks like a mule, feels like a toy, and falls apart after six months.

That's exactly why they issue them to SWAT officers, I bet.

It makes it really easy for the criminal to grab their barrels in frantic situations, and when they grab the barrel, they have to drop their weapons.

Since they've unknowingly disarmed themselves, a friend with a shotgun can easily start hip firing and get them all.

You must be right, anon.

There is some merit to what he's saying if you're comparing a pistol to a full-sized non SBR rifle. What he's saying about shotguns is just pants on head retarded though.

Buy an Enfield, or a Mauser, or a Springfield.

Modern bolt guns lose all the charm in my opinion, the history and look of older military bolt actions is what makes them special to me.

I'd likely never own a bolt gun if they were never military issued, but I'm glad they were so I could easily see how fun they actually are.

>>
>>33832464
He set up a barrel-grabbing straw man, I wouldn't call that merit.

That sort of situation where someone can grab your barrel and actually benefit from it is either your fault or Hollywood-tier luck on their part.

If someone is waiting around a corner and decides to grab your barrel instead of just shooting you, they're trying to initiate a really cool hand-to-hand combat scene in which you come out on top because you're the good guy and you always win.
>>
>>33832487
Good point, there's no merit to his argument. There is some merit to a pistol being better than a full-sized rifle for home defense in certain situations.
>>
>>33832490
This is true, I agree with that.

I'd personally prefer an SBR with hollow points, but that's just me.

A Glock with an Extendo Clipazine® would also serve very well, especially if combined with hollow points.
