I held and finger fucked a Norinco 1911 at an auction back in February. Like if they were being imported still and were being sold at like Rock River or Tisas 1911 prices they would dominate that market. But I wouldn't call them amazing either.

Depends. Norc military shit is pretty good, norc civilian shit is hit and miss. Worst finishes I have ever seen on firearms. They're a solid deal if you're willing to put work into them.

Buddy has an M305 (m14) that he completely stripped, rebuilt and refinished. Shoots like a dream.

might be able to find a beat to shit used Colt in that price range but don't know if it's worth it to go with something "better" but heavily used

I did undersell on how much this thing is not norc anymore. I suppose if its a criterion barrel, gi bolt, resprung gi trigger and a Springfield stock, its not norc anymore. Its a "cheap" way of getting a performance m14 without getting cucked by LRB or Springfield prices, especially if you know how to do work. The only thing he paid for was the re-barrelling

T97s are garbage. Even the ones that feed properly, the worst ergos I've ever seen on a rifle.

The Type 56 Aks I've shot and fiddled with on vacation were of way higher quality than any norc product you can buy in Canada.
