Why did some countries adopt steel cased ammo while others adopted brass cased?
Steel is cheaper.
Steel is lighter and cheaper.
Brass is not as abundant in europe and russia as it is in america/canada.
Brass dissipates heat better.
Lead isnt even as cheap in russia as steel hence light steel core ammo is a thing...not hardened steel penetrators mind you either
I want to know why the commblocs went with lacquer sealed ammo in disposable tins. while the west went with unsealed ammo in reusable ammo cans.

>not hardened steel penetrators mind you either
Steel cores do NOT handle actual hard steel well.

Steel corrodes more easily than brass so they sealed the cartridges.
>>33819763
yes, but why didn't they adopt a reusable can?
if you open a can. you have to then load the ammo into something else.
in the west you can just leave the unused ammo in the can.

There are russian equivalent ammo cans. The spam cans are for stacking deep.

Also mindset you can bury or forget about sealed tins for well forever practically.
Brass nations generally as more apt to order new ammo from suppliers, tge whole military industry complex.
Most steel ammo factories are state ran or sponsored, at least they were.

Not mild steel for sure man.
Hardened steel cores do much better
Anyone else want a spamcan, but you just dont want to open it because how perfect it looks? Or am i just autistic?
>>33822134
Both
>>33822134
Just open it from the bottom so you can display the can after you take the ammo out
>>33822134
Do the cement rubbing technique to open it if you love how it looks.
It takes a bit on coarse cement, but it breaks the seal beautifully.

this. Or buy a larger "pinch" style can opener. Also called "safety can opener"
Is steel cased easier to produce in terms of resources and supplies?
>>33822472
Well steel is more common than brass so I'd guess so
>>33822472
Yes. Steel is more common, cheaper, and easier to produce.
