Legally purchased in another state when I was stationed there as long as my rifle meets certain "scary features" criteria its all good.....scary features ban here is only flash hiders and adjustable stocks. Here in NY you need a permit to own a pistol, and the process is extremely invasive, has inconsistent standards and you are at the whims of a civil servant. There is no way I could get past this with my background even though a nics is fine.

Where I live the court will actually take into account how big of a weapon the home invader had, the whole system is fucked, if I grab a knife from the kitchen drawer and stab some dude with a knife breaking into my home I will probably be fine, If I go and grab a gun out of the cabinet and shoot the fucker with a knife guns will be taken away and I will probably be done because the whole thing was "Pre-mediated". Basically going through the effort of taking out your gun to shoot a home invader can land you in deep shit but grabbing a knife and stabbing the fuck out of him in a spur of the moment type thing is probably fine if he is armed.

Im inna Rochester and even though I have a clean background they want I think it was 6 people who know you for 3 years to vouch for you that all have clean backgrounds that lived in the state for that long that cannot be family pay like 200 bux and wait months for it to go through MAYBE then you can buy a handgun and have it listed by name on your permit.

Having to not only join but regularly attend a gun club is a hassle I can't be bothered with. That and the fact that's having a gun license basically means the police can turn up at your house, "gun inspection, sir" and then you have to let them in so they can poke around on the pretense of checking that your gun safe is secure and police-approved.
That's assuming you can even get the gun license to begin with, since the police, unlike in America, are some of the biggest anti-gun activists in the country, and will deny permits for any reason they can. Speeding ticket, "you can't be trusted with a firearm"; Live vaguely near someone else who's been convicted of a violent offence, "you could be connected to them"; a guy you knew in High School is now a criminal, "Probably a criminal associate". These are among some of the reasons I've heard for police to reject firearms licenses.

Spaniard here. You can't use them for self defense, but here everyone and his mother have a shotgun in their rural homes (most Spanish families have a second home in rural areas to go there in holidays).

Here it's pretty easy to get a hunting license or a shotgun license to practice clay shooting. Also legally speaking you can't shoot an invader breaking in your house, but when it happened the magistrate withdrew charges from the defender if it was justified. It could be worse, we could be British cucks.
