MATVs, especially the SF configuration has good offroading. Better than any Humvee could provide and it still brings a good amount of firepower and a decent armor package.

The JLTV looks to have pretty good offroading as well from the looks of things.

Since not all MRAPs are made equal, those are Caimans if anybody cares, which are designed as troop carriers or light cargo carrying vehicles. These are roughly equal in use to an old 5-ton truck.

Even for an MRAP, they are on the big side. Much bigger than the patrol vehicles like MATVs and MaxxPros, which are closer in use to an Humvee or armored car, which would have better maneuverability.

Hey guys I'm looking for a DMR-ish rifle (usable up to 500 yards) in .223 for range funz. I'm in Canada so no AR pls.

Semi-auto preferred. No need for removable mags because we're cucked with the 5 rounds limit.

My priorities are;
1. Precision
2. Price
3. Reliability
4. Aesthetics
5. Aftermarket support

Thansk for the suggestions, I love you /k/ <3

Cougars are pretty great vehicles, but I posted the MATV because it is closer to an armored car than a Cougar. Cougar/JERRV is a big vehicle in comparison.

Because used car lots have shitloads of mustangs that have fucked transmissions or heavily damaged bodies with low mileage. To the average half-retarded E1, a $5000 mustang with only 65k miles seems like an awesome deal, so they just buy it, not realizing all the problems it has.

Basically used car salesmen are scum who pray on ignorant children

the armored car begat the humvee which begat the MRAP, which begat the MATV, which begat the L-ATV

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oshkosh_L-ATV

that is a gross, gross over simplification, but accurate enough.

the L-ATV has a crew compartment that can handle the blasts mostly like an MATV or even MRAP but is smaller, lighter, more agile, faster and more refined which offers a few advantages that it's bigger kin do not.
>>
>>33782565

Its possible but is highly unlikely because of the discomfort, the leg and core muscles being strained and the pressure from the G-suit that is being put on said legs and core of the body.

Also, the pilot is focussed on flying if he pulls serious G's and not on fucking someone else.
>>
>>33782647
"MRAP" is a broad blanket term for a category of vehicle. An MATV and LATV are both MRAPs.

Kind of bugs me when people say "the MRAP can do this" or "the MRAP has such-an-such feature" without telling me which MRAP they are talking about.

I dont think the L-ATV qualifies as an MRAP anymore. That classification of vehicle was overspecialized and characteristically limited in mobility by its weight. The L-ATV is like 33-50% of the weight of most MRAPs that saw service.

It's more of a tactical light infantry transport and fire support that's been engineered with the knowledge that the MRAPs provided.

The LATV supposedly offers the same level of protection as older model MATVs while reducing weight by using more modern material and lessions learned for construction. It's got the v-hull (despite weird internet rumors otherwise). In all protective respects it matches at least what previous vehicles in the MRAP program offered.

>It's more of a tactical light infantry transport and fire support that's been engineered with the knowledge that the MRAPs provided.
That's exactly what the MATV and especially the MATV-SF offered.

The LATV doesn't match Category-2 MRAPs, but it was never meant to. It matches or exceeds many older Category-1 models though.

>>
>>33783209
they're all about the same in terms of being useful. the Maverick probably has more in the way of aftermarket then the other two.
>>
>>33783209
Maverick by far, I own an Maverick and my friend owns a Pardner, I've put at least 1000 rounds through mine and several boxes of shells through my friends.

Much of the difference comes down to personal preference, I personally prefer the balance of the Maverick, but that can be changed, even with a skeet barrel the Maverick is decently lighter than the Pardner with a home defense barrel, on top of this the Maverick has a much smoother design, the Pardner has several angular edges that I think give it a rougher feel.

Overall, I'd recommend that you see if you can hold each in person, there's no real glaring deficiencies with either and they all make a fine first shotgun.

The main problem with 5.56 fragmenting rounds is their poor performance outside of short ranges, especially with short barrels. The 5.45 7N6 round deals a decent amount of damage at almost any range by tumbling on impact. So my question is, why not just take M855 (or similar) and put an air pocket in the tip, like the 5.45, increasing it's effectiveness at long range?

can someone please explain to me what the fuck "Gucci" is supposed to mean when referring to AR15s? posted my budget build in the general (big mistake) and I basically got laughed at because nothing on it was gucci. does gucci just mean expensive for no reason? is there a huge difference between a 400$ rail and the 75 dollar one I'm using? because they appear to be made out of the same fuckin' metal from what I've read. does having my BUIS match the color of my rifle somehow make them less effective? do roll marks on lower recievers really matter? why is a mid length gas system on a 16 inch rifle bad?

What's the more important dimension for CCing? height or width?

I'm looking for a smaller CC gun for the warmer months and my 2 picks are a Walther P99c and a PPS M1. The first because my HD gun is a full size P99 so I would use the same manual of arms, and the 2nd because I like the huge paddle mag release as a lefty.

The PPS is way thinner, but it's also got the taller grip unless I go for flush fit mags with minimum capacity. The P99 has DA/SA which I generally prefer carrying, and higher cap mags.

What's going to generally be more suited or more comfortable for IWB carry, the shorter one, or the thinner?

Because 7n6 is overrated, there are better ways to enhance 5.56's performance nowadays, and even if there weren't, 5.56 bullets are shorter than 5.45 bullets so there's not as much room for an air pocket without seriously compromising the round's performance in onther aspects.

Like? OTM and M193 can't into barriers, bonded rounds can't deal damage like fragmenting can, and M855A1 is bad for several reasons.
>there's not as much room for an air pocket
Some M855 apparently has a small air pocket, as this picture shows. Still, there is clearly plenty of room for one, and it can simply take some space from the steel core if needed, with only a miniscule effect on performance.
>>
>>33788213
And here is the pocket in 7N6, clearly not much space is needed to achieve the desired effect.

Even category-2 MRAPs never had appreciable armor for the engine. I don't know where people are getting the idea that engines were protected. The v-hull on any MRAP I can think of doesn't extend to the engine, and the hoods were all lightweight on MATVs, MaxxPros, and even JERRVs. Some models might be heavier, but it's not a requirement and none were ever much more than small arms resistant anyway.

Duramax V8 turbodiesel. 300-500 horsepower, 500-1000 foot pounds of torque depending on the exact model. Reliability issues are exaggerated due to the abnormal cost of injector replacement in the earliest model, the lb7. This was rectified in every subsequent model. Used in light and medium duty trucks up to 30,000 pounds gross overall weight rating. (GOWR includes the additionl weight of a trailer and it's load) As far as actual reliability goes, Caterpillar engines, Cummins engines, Duramax/Powermax tied in third, and then Ford engines, and somewhere back around least reliable is the older 6.2 and 6.5 gm engines.

The real limit on 5.56 is the maximum length. The cartidge is limited to a fairly short ogive, which gives poor ballistics and requres any heavier bullets to sit deeper in the case eating up propellant volume.

Some guy wants to trade his glock 17 gen 4 for my yugo npap. Is it a fair trade?

My ak has 3 tapco mags and 1 metal mag, and also has a tapco g2 trigger installed

The glock 17 is an mos model, has mounting plates, comes with 3 17 round magazines and night sights already installed. It also has a ghost trigger also, which is 3.5 lbs trigger pull.

I bought my ak a month ago for 625 but decided I could benefit from a pistol better, so equal trade?
