I want to paint it black to match my muzzle device and there are two options:

1. Pay someone to cerakote it
2. Buy gun-kote and do it myself

The cerakote is max 80 bucks, and the gun-kote comes in a spray can and it's oven cured for 55 dollars.

I wasn't the guy you were originally arguing wiht, but the point of the ACOG is having a compact, lightweight, extremely durable combat optic. The glass is nicer than just about everything in that price point, except for maybe the razor hd II.

And even in that case, Trijicon's glass isn't far behind. I'd still rather not add almost 2.5-3 lbs to the top of my rifle, would you? Especially if you could get something equally as durable if not more durable, not require batteries for illumination, be lighter and more compact, and have at least comparable quality glass.

How is it more versatile? Throw a RMR on top of the ACOG and you have yourself a 1x dot and a 4x crosshairs or chevron. Canting your AR to move the RMR over your left eye instead of lifting your cheek is going to be faster than using a throw lever and taking a hand off of your rifle.

It's also nearly 3 times the weight of an ACOG when you add a mount.

What does /arg/ think about bull barrels? I am working on a second build and am slowly saving money for a complete upper. I am set up for a 20" barrel and occasionally see these used for sale. I don't ever plan on getting a can and am not super particular about muzzle devices. The whole rifle would be built for range time and target practice.

Cue autism: There's no such thing as a bull barrel on an AR15.

BUT I understand what you're trying to say. IMO, the crown makes little difference to accuracy in an autoloader. Rather, good fit and a bit of luck in the locking lugs, and a well made barrel are more important to accuracy. Therefore, I see no reason to limit yourself to a target crown and a large profile barrel, as those types of barrels are unusual and more expensive than more common lengths and profiles.

Also longer barrel length negatively affects accuracy. A shorter barrel will be more accurate. If you need velocity for longer range then you will have to make a concession in accuracy potential.

Also iron sights won't serve you unless you plan to shoot iron sights, must shoot iron sights for a particular competition or just like iron sights. You'll likely be using some type of optic most of the time, so why not learn how to use that?

If your work history is as spotty as I suspect it is, you're going to have to start at the bottom. This means food service or cashiering. Everyone who lives in that town is cranky as hell and will report you to the cops for anything.
They also are sticklers on "county building codes" or some shit. I needed to make my grandpa a fence around his trash cans because a neibor reported him to the cops and fined him over it.
People are also crazy about private property in the wooded areas a bit farther from town . Tried going inawoods around there a few times but was "escorted" by cops out and fined.
Its also filled with white trash on the outskirts that have meth labs and interbreed.
