Why is there something fascinating about trainer aircraft being pressed into combat roles?
Am I alone in this?
Maybe it's more of an eastern bloc thing?
>>33758585
Nah. US did it with the T-28 in vietnam.
>>33758585
Not really, a lot of western nations has done it too
>>33758681
Another one, with Rb 05 missiles
>>33758573
They are simply sexy, even better if you have it over your head almost every day
>>33758573
>>33758573
Simple sturdy little planes/vehicles of any kind, economical to use, that blow shit up and get shit done are the epitome of military equipment.
I would love to have an armed version of the T-6 Texan II or an Air Tractor AT-802
The Malaysian did used the BAE Hawk to bombed the hell out Filipino terrorist in 2013.
>>33759714
This is cool. I wonder if Finland has something like this in mind. Like 30 of these planes here
>>33759714
There's a reason Funland has designated it's BAE Hawk's as a training aircraft in peacetime and as a ground attack aircraft should it switch to wartime.
>>33759761
Source?
>>33759748
>>33759761
The actual kill marking.
>>33758585
That is an aesthetic aircraft right there.
>>33759761
>>33759783
Heard because some kind of agreement between Finland and Soviet Union. Once Soviet Union dies, Finland get the Hornet.
>>33759783
Only source is people in the armed forces as well as following recent news of Finland modifying and upgrading their Hawks to last them till late 2030. Why sink so much money into a trainer aircraft if it doesn't serve some greater purpose?
>>33759671
this
Because WW2-style low speed strafing in light airplanes with rockets and bombs is more spectacular than BVR.
>>33759829
That's just BS
>>33759918
Because every AF needs a trainer :D There's no weapons for Hawks. Also in Finland's scenarios CAS is just a dream as Russia will have at least partial air superiority
>>33760253
During wartime Hawks would engage enemy CAS and helicopters with AIM-9Ms and centerline gunpod, source is FiAF website + 1st hand t knower
M-346 is probably the best. What other trainer can you use to practice aerial refueling?
Trainer aircraft thread?
Red-painted trainer aircraft tread?
Yeah, I'm gonna have to go old school on this one.
>>33759783
You can look for it online. after the WW2 the finns could only have 60 or so fighter planes at one time, so having large number of heavily armed trainer is one way of going around the restriction
>>33758573
The missions concerning this in Ace Combat set a cool fucking Narrative
>>33760253
We use our BAE Hawks as maritime strike craft which is strange given its 300 nm range. Dunno whats the radar cross section like though. The small size could be an asset when flying fast and low.
>>33759714
Wished we used the Su-30s too just to fuck with the Sulu towelheads.
>>33759732
This isn't a trainer tho. It's a single seat light fighter
This modified AT-6 actually shot down a Zero..
