Choke it, take a stick and rape it's eye sockets with it, or it's ears, break the legs first, whatever you have to do, just turn into an animal and do what is necessary.

I have actually struck a stray dog before as it ran after me (I run at night, and usually carry a baton) It wasnt a german shepard, but more of a full size Rottweiler. It's how a dogs jaw muscles attach and work. If you dont believe it, test it out on your friendly mutt when it's playbiting - the other leverage is to grab the lower jaw and pull it out further. 1. - Offer it your non-dominant forearm to protect your throat/face (it's also much less pain sensitive than most of the alternatives)
