However, there are some other options that may be good. Hi-Point pistols tend to get a bad reputation for being cheap, but they're apparently really reliable and have a warranty.

22lr is fine for self defense, because most niggers/criminals aren't going to be wearing armor. The only issue is AFTER you take them down and they survive their wounds, causing them to sue you in civil court for all your money. It is for this reason why the Taurus Judge exists.
