Is this the strongest argument that gun owners have? The opposition in Venezuela is completely disarmed and they have absolutely no way to fight back the current dictator, they march over and over again but the only thing they get from it is corpses
No other country will meddle with the current regime and they can't do it themselves
>>
>>33706196
Eh. They can go on prolonged strike. Its not as if their government have money to pay them anyway. Eventually, even the police and army will desert if they are not paid. Then, a new populist leader will rise, only to repeat in the next 10-20 years.
>>

Legally no one is supposed to own guns. In reality the police are poor uneducated banana niggers that work at the behest of maduro. Plus maduro is arming his red shirts. That being said, the opposition isn't without arms despite it being illegal (its Venezuela fuck you if you think people are dumb enough to give up their guns when everyone around them is getting murdered). My uncle has carried a beretta in his glove box since the 1980s. They also have a security detail on their compound.

Anyway, maduro is going to end up dying in a shootout on the steps of his hacienda like every 2 bit commie dictator fuck in South America. He's a former truck driver dumbass trying to emulate Chavez, who was a rancher dumbass. Would love to give some helicopter tours down there.

I'm not even anti gun and I automatically thought of Egypt and Turkey as a counter to your "strong" argument. In Egypt, the people just stopped doing anything and the president stepped down after 3 weeks. In Turkey, the military attacked the people and people were just like, "No".

In history, I find that in terms of civil unrest, there is no such thing as a "disarmed populace."

Only "level of abuse & bullshit a population can take before boiling over into actually killing people."

Because the thing is: you can have an armed populace and justify tyranny at the same time. Look at China: literally relied for its defense on a peasant army ideal during Mao's time, with every village possessing of an armory defended only by a cop with a revolver and a lock and key to break out and do "the people's war" versus the foreign threat. But instead of rebelling through the abuses of the GLF and the Cultural Revolution, they pretty much stood down because as far as they were concerned, this China was better than the civil war chaos they had during the last century and a half.

Clearly Venezuelans are being pussy at the moment but boy, there ought to be a level of shit they can NOT take before boiling over.

>Turkey

That "coup" was something a bit more complex than what it initially seemed.
>>
>>33706968
How so?
>>
>>33706937
Edrogan manipulated the military into a premature half assed fake coup. So he could later justify mass arrests of political enemies, dissidents, and officers. Then grant him self more powers.

He left the country and they let him back in. A couple seconds of trigger from a turkish f-16 that was part of the coup, could have secured the success.

Egypt's Mubarak was a western puppet and already suffering from cancer.

>>33706937
Yeah. Democracy is really flourishing in turkey m8.

True.

During Mao's time, the Militias made the lion share of the armed force in the country while the professional soldiers of the PLA not only were a minority, they were also subject to suspicion. Peng Dehuai, the victor of the Chinese Civil War and the architect of the UN Retreat in Korea was fucking Gulag'd out of suspicion by Mao. The Red Guard paramilitaries & mobs were allowed to roam free while the army just sat on their asses.

This basically led to the dumbing down of the army which is why you have shit like the defeat of China vs. Vietnam in that short war they had.

Post-Mao China and modern China is basically the army having its revenge via modernization, which is currently removing the militia out of an active role in China's armed defense in favor of a growing number of professional, standing soldiers. The only paramilitary force in China nowadays is the PAP (People's Armed Police) which is both the Gendarmerie of the Chinese state and the PLA's reserve forces.

The resistance to the coup was the vote.
>>
>>33707057
that passed barely during a state of emergency and opposition being arrested constantly?

sounds like an election Stalin would be proud of.

Cmon Venezuelans, do something.

Fun fact: Venezuela just seized a GM Plant. Serves them right for thinking they could do business with socialists, especially of the South American variety.
>>
>>33706938
The very ideological repression you just described in Mao's China is what's going on in Venezuela, albeit to a lesser degree.
>>
>>33707108
hope they aren't holding any americans hostage. would give trump casus belli to overthrow maduro.
>>
>>33707123
I don't think there were any Americans there. GM said it would give severance packages to the employees and leave the country
>>
>>33707166
GM also said they will make the Venezuelan government pay for its actions, and they are confident "justice will be served". Shit's on.
>>
>>33707983
2 MEFs and a carrier strike groups should be enough to oust the current government. then work with local military and police leaders to keep things stable enough to hold elections.
>>
>>33707104
Both those games were the fucking best, I loved the first one for the way it handled the deck of targets, and I loved the second one for the improvements in gameplay and ridiculousness

One thing they could never fucking do however, was just split screen coop, like god damn, I'd still be playing it today.

There's so much rich land in this world where sun shines throughout the year, where crops would flourish and provide for millions upon millions and yet these lands are owned by people who can't seem to be able to use them. How do we fix this? Just genocide and re-population with Europeans would probably work if not for ethical concerns but are there any actual solutions that would work in real life?
