>$599...well used..it looks beat up as fuck
nah
maybe 400 when beat to shit but at 600 just buy an ar
Nope
>>33705224
Fuck no
>>33705224
Barrel looks fine...bright & shiny bore but I was wondering...already have a colt m4...didn't know where the market was on the rugers
>>33705224
If it looks beat up as fuck, no that's not a good price.
>>33705224
If it's beat, no.
Is it a 580 series at least?

This
>>33707465
Seconded.
>>33705224
Sounds over priced for a beat up gun. If you see rust on the outside, I'd be suspicious.
Look though the bore while bright light is shining on the bolt face and you should be able to draw conclusions on whether the rifling is A-ok.

ruger mini a shit
>>33705272
If you've already got an AR there's literally nothing wrong with the Mini-14. Garand-type actions are fun to shoot and you can ammo share. Ignore the butthurt /arg/ and /akg/ dwellers.
I bought a mini 30 over an ak.

>>33708150
Does it shoot steelcase reliably?
>>33708224
Not til i got the wolff spring, rugers are basically glock the rifle minus the exploding
>>33708150
They're really not bad rifles.
If Ruger made them consistent with steelcase and then made factory 30 round mags (even plastic ones), I think it would be just perfect.
But even then, a traditionally stocked intermediate rifle with "just" a 20rd mag, it has a humble charm to it. Also it's plenty of firepower while letting you get down low.
>>33708224
For some people they seem to do it fine.
>>33708368
I've heard that some people get theirs to reliably eat steel by thoroughly polishing the bolt-face, try that before getting a new spring, as the spring can supposedly make the firing-pin break.
>>33705224
If it's a 58X prefix maybe, if it's a 18X no. You can get 1st gens for less in good shape.
>>33709122
I wish someone made a bakelite stock and mag for it ;(
>>33709570
I think a bakelite stock would look like shit on it, but bakelite mags could look nice (goes surprisingly well with wood).
Maybe you could experiment with a bakelite AK mag and see if you can make it fit and feed? I found pic related on Google, it's a Mini-30 with a plastic AK mag in it.
>>33709782
> losing last round bolt hold open
Id rather experiment with a vz58 mag
>>33709875
Could work, though the typical gray finish on those wouldn't look too good with the wooden stock.
>>33709122
>I've heard that some people get theirs to reliably eat steel by thoroughly polishing the bolt-face
How thoroughly are we talking here, a few minutes with a cloth or an hour with sandpaper?
>>33706093
>Is it a 580 series at least?
This is the most important question
>>33707714
An AR15 is objectively superior to a Mini-14 in almost every way, but a Mini is way more fun to shoot and is infinitely sexier.
>>33705224
If you're going to spend ~600 dollars just get an AR and hold onto it for the next ban scare.
>>33710573
I don't know, somewhere inbetween maybe?
>>33710640
Sometimes a person wants a rifle that isn't an AR.
