Didn’t have the time to make a costume for the first 2 days of the con (and I was busy anyway). Decided to throw together a quick Tactical Touhou for the Open Air event on the third day from gear I had laying around anyway. Last year I cosplayed Suika Ibuki on that same event, I guess this is a new tradition for me.

Next year look forward to Sakuya and Youmu instead of Reisen and Marisa, respectively. More photos when I finally get them from the various people who took photos of me/us.

Pouches are designed for 35 round R4 (galil) mags so you will be sitting deep with AR mags. Run a solid line of stitching across the bottom of the pouches and raise them to desired height, or be happy with the depth!

Just starting, pls don't bully.

Here are my objectives.
1) Look really cool.
2) Have a light loadout for category 2 and 3 chimpouts.
3) Secure the existence of our suburbs and a future for white children.

Rig to keep in my suv just. in. case.

Rifle's a 14.5 mid-length, as light as I can make it without getting ridiculous with titanium or skeletonized stuff. Geared towards short to mid range engagements (within 100 yards). Will add a scout light and probably switch stock out for b5 sopmod for better balance.

For my pc I want to stay light, mobile, low profile, and focused on getting into/out of a vibrant situation. No real focus on survival outside of first aid.
Just got my Mayflower APC, shopping for steel now. Looking at AR500 lightweight lvl iii+ stuff in the swimmer's cut. http://www.ar500armor.com/ar500-armor-body-armor/level-iii-lightweight-body-armor/ar500-armor-lightweight-10-x-12-level-iii-alsc-body-armor.html
am really open to suggestions here, though. Looking to stay under $300 and as light as possible. Resistant of common rifle rounds at around 3000fps.

Have Mayflower's triple m4 mag for my kangaroo pouch in the mail. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to go with bfg's 10 speed triple m4 mag pouch or their double m4 mag pouch and double pistol mag pouch. Leaning towards the triple and just keeping my extra pistol magazines in something like a neo mag in my backpocket. Sometimes I don't carry my sphinx and the pistol mags could be wasted real estate on my pc. Will pick up something like bfg's mirco first aid pack and stash it on my back.

Will likely pick up a large sebenza just to ensure that the person who does kill me gets a full set of purples.

Also, a shemagh to push my operating to the next level.

harder to hit.

problem is I'm normal height (5'11) so small plates leave a bit of my diaphragm exposed. But yeah, I'll probably end up going with two of these: http://www.ar500armor.com/ar500-armor-body-armor/level-iii-body-armor-en/ar500-armor-8-x-10-asc-level-iii-body-armor.html

only 8lbs so that's not too bad, I guess.

You're still misunderstanding him. He's saying he wants to find the partizan camo with the green in the specific shade that is in the pic that he posted, and not the shade of the green that is in my pic related.
>>
>>33709836
As I said i don't want solid camo, I don't care about the ass and crotch being the pale brown. Why are you talking about that?

I'm speaking specifically to the shade of green that is inside the partizan camo. They don't all appear to be equal. Some look like regular camo green and some look like an 80's 90's culture green. I'd like to steer away from the latter.

Edit: I looked back at my pic and I apologize. I'm not looking for that particular gorka(or whatever) suit, I'm looking for gorka with partizan camo that has that shade of green.

Paging anyone who knows anything about packs.

Considering the LBT 3 day pack, Mystery Ranch 3 Day assault or the Hill People Aston House.
I need ~1800 cubic inches, but being sold on features more than anything. Comfort's a big one and ability to use with plate carriers and other LBE's a big one so I'm leaning really towards the Mystery Ranch one.

Good setup so far, bonus points for wearing my patch
>>
>>33710194
I wear it once for about an hour to fit it properly with load and make sure everything's tight and good to go then don't touch it until I need it. I'm already in armor a lot for mil related duties so if I don't have to be in armor at home then that's preferable. But make sure your fitting's correct which does take some wearing it.

You don't really get used to wearing armor. Maybe I'm just complainy but the more and longer I wear gear the more I just want to take it off. Nothing beats stripping down to underwear (or commando if you're a savage) at the end of a field day.
>>
>>33710220
I get that feeling.

I think the biggest threat I have to face is shitty .223/steel case 7.62x39 or fmj pistol rounds. Might run into some slow moving m193 or m855. Not worried about .308 or 30-06. I like iii+ because I would rather have multiple protection from common rounds than protection against ap larger rounds. And I can keep my gear relatively light and rugged.

probably going to stick to a good, light iii+ steel plate but I'm definitely open to suggestions.

>>33710610

>>33710719
>Not worried about .308 or 30-06
You do realize that hunting rifles and battle rifles exist, right?
>>
>>33710782

I do realize that, but I also think it's unlikely that I'm going to run into many fal's or m14's as I get my japanese love pillow out of the 'gentrified' area she's foolishly living in.

Can't protect against everything, and I'm leaning towards mobility. The most common threats I see are going to be nogs with 223/762x39/pistol rounds from their problem solvas. Maybe some m193 or m855 out of your basic 16 inch barrel, which the plates I'm looking at can handle. (out of a longer barrel...not so much)

I mean, I've got two cases of M855 that will sail right through "III+" plates, and the history or recalls and all the legal shit AR500 has had to face down, for the same price you can get a really good set of level IVs and have that extra bit of security. I've thrown my plates around a lot and have yet to break them. I get em xrayed every couple months, nothing bad. Also at the same round count rounds start passing through ceramic, the spall coating peels off steel, so either way you're dead if you take more than 7-8 shots to the chest. Midwest Armor pro-guard plates are kind of heavy, but very good.
>>
>>33710719
I'm going to give you the tldr of the shit I gave the last dumbass. Ceramic plates are not as fragile as you think. It's not porcelain and it's not tile ceramic. They do drop tests on these plates to get nij certified, nij .06 I do believe, but I could be wrong.

You need to worry about energy transfer with steel. Break ribs, stabbed lungs, possibly stopping your heart. Ceramics crack(and still take multiple rounds) and absorb a lot of the energy that steel will not.

Spall coating is not perfect. There is a reason you do not see steel guys doing tests to see if it still spalls straight up or down or side to side, because you are going to get your face peppered. If there are videos of people testing this, please post them.

Do you seriously think that if you are actively being shot at that you will know until its too late? Even my dumbguns coworkers think that M855 is AP and keep a stockpile on hand for "shtf"

It boggles my fucking mind that people make the mobility argument and settle in the middle with fucking steel plates. Read the attached image because you dont seem to understand armor

Words hurt you know. Besides these plates are last line of defense. The likelihood of actually being shoot is incredibly small. It is nice to have to prevent death but it is not as if we are police/military/security forces that are going to entertain threats of being shot on the daily. The extra money you spend may make you feel more confident but if the plate stops the bullet then mission fucking accomplished. A round that would have killed you did not. If we're comparing multiple hits over and over ask yourself, how many fucking times am I going to be shot between replacing plates?

Most of the anti-SPALDING truck liner holds up to about 4+ rounds in close proximity. Unless you are taking fully automatic fire the chances of 4 rounds landing in near groupings are next to none.

Armour wear is having a sale
https://armour-wear.com/specials/
-You can mount the BFG pouches to your civvy belt using some of that soft cable velcro stuff.
-Consider a LAW folding adapter so you can keep all your gear in a backpack.
-You might want to go shorter like 11/12 inch just in case you have to take the fight to Tyrone. Section 8 housing isn't roomy.
>>

>he likelihood of actually being shoot is incredibly small.
Why bring this up at all when discussing plates, especially when advocating for heavier steel plates?
>The extra money you spend may make you feel more confident
And stop a wider variety of rounds
>If we're comparing multiple hits
Not his point. Ballistic ratings depend on multi-hit tests in the first place.

Do you have life insurance? If so, how much? $500? No you've got atleast $10,000 if not $50,000.

You are saying this is the last line of defense, then why would you cheap out on it? And not even by much.

You are saying if it stops it, then it stops. You don't understand what I am saying to you. I have never once said steel won't stop rounds, it totally will. What I'm saying is that the round that the steel stops, could still very well kill you. Ceramic will not. There are way too many inconsistencies about steel plates. What do you not understand what I've said about broken ribs and spalling. The fucking plate will stop rounds, no one is debating that, we make fucking targets out of it, but that steel plate stopping that round, can still get you killed, and that is the big difference between steel and ceramic.

The closest you are going to get with a decent steel setup is by putting a soft iiia backer in front of it. Now price that out without trying to use shitty Chinese shit that isn't certified, and you will that it is cheaper and probably lighter to go ceramic. Fuck dude just save 4 fucking dollars a day for a month and that can probably get you a basic lvl4. Can your ass really not do that for a couple months so you can get light weight ones?

I'll quit calling you dumbass when you quit being one.

As they're not factory drilled, my best guess would be that whoever he worked for did a bottom-dollar purchase from MSA, saving pennies wherever they can. Who knows.

The problem is the idea that a bigger plate would still protect more of your vitals from a few more angels is valid, it's just huge, and you potentially start getting into "why is this so big" territory.

if you don't want to do it yourself this guys stuff is dope but he charges a little too much in my opinion.

it wont let me link the shit because of spam filter

but the helmet blanks aren't super expensive and all you really ned to do is buy a helmet blank and a visor that someone made and glue them together and paint it.
>>
>>33718203
I used it in the winter for day hikes holding normie stuff like mittens, headlamp, ect. Ive never worn it on a regular belt just the prairie belt.Cool thing is I can attach it to the ruck, and then scale down to just the buttpack and hip belt if I don't need the contents of the main pack. I plan to configure it as a little long range kit with dope cards, rangefinder, fixed blade, binos, medical, ammo and maybe some camouflage. It offers great organization what with the laser cut molle on the outside and inside, but its a tad bit heavier than id like. it's very comfortable and you can really cinch down your load tight.

No. As far as I remember it was designed for striking impression when it comes to SWAT units. It's pretty useless and while nowhere near as dark in person, it's almost shiny to the point where it's more useless than most deep black "camos" and solid color uniforms.

I live in a never ending city + suburban sprawl in the northeast and so I'm pretty indecisive about what camo pattern, if any, I'd want to base my first gear load out around and so there's the thought in my head that the best camouflage is to mimic some combination of colours from civilian appearance and L.E. (blue, grey, black).

basically grey man meme, even though a chestrig for the purpose of feeding an AR is pretty counter intuitive to the whole idea.

Thoughts?

was seriously considering black since 70% of my clothing is black anyways, magazines are black, etc. idea there being that over a black hoodie or under a zipped down black jacket its profile would be skewed and its appearance not immediately obvious.

Plan to shoot it with:
9x18 out of Makarov Lead Core - stand in for 380
9x19 out of G17 - Winchester "NATO" loading
.45ACP out of a Mark 23 - Winchester "Military" 230gr loading

So then why ask us?

The grey looks the coolest of all the options you gave. Innacity the color isn't going to matter at all since you aren't going to be able to camouflage yourself period. The only way to hide is by physically hiding, or hiding the stuff you have. Color would make no difference.

Why not go with a mute color that can also work in the wilderness, like coyote or ranger green. Seeing as those are truly the coolest colors...

Went with Gray for a few reasons.

Black says cop and camo says military. neither are things I want to scream.

Gray doesn't register as tactical (brown does) to most people as it's so rare. Doesn't pop off of normal clothes (even bold ones like I had on) compared to black.

Blends well with most city environs.

Honestly, gray or olive are the only two I'd consider.
>>
>>33726245
Pretty much the reason why i went ranger green for all my gear. Big plus over the wolf gray that it's not faggy too.
>>
Home depot apron acquired
Will be making a chest rig out of it soon
>>
>>33726245
>Black says cop
this is like /gq/ fuddlore. even if that's the impression it gives, I don't see why that would be a bad thing. or why it would even matter. maybe it's because I've been awake for 24 hours and counting,

my order of preference is multicam black > black > ranger green > etc
>>
just as I imagined, shit looks great in combination with black clothing.

add a zip down black layer on top (bulky sweater, jacket, etc.) to obscure the profile of the rig even more when worn zipped down, it's at that point where any pattern other than multicam black/solid black would be exposing.

have I finally justified multicam black as having function beyond cosplay?
>>
>>33726342
so again, impression is everything imo. I'd rather so meone see me for an instant and register nothing than register cop.

>>
>>33726402
>it's at that point where any pattern other than multicam black/solid black would be exposing.

Yeah, as long as you are wearing black clothes.

And with the whole registering as a cop or soldier or ninja or whatever. It doesn't matter, if they see you with a rifle, then you will register as a guy with a big gun, it doesn't matter if your shit is black, coyote, multicam, or even ucp, you will just be seen as a guy with a big gun. You aren't going to be wearing a helmet or a uniform right? 99% of the time it's just going to be "oh shit, that guys got a big gun"

>>
>>33726524
>You aren't going to be wearing a helmet or a uniform right?
I wouldn't expect to find myself in any 'disruptive environment', so that's not what I'm gearing towards. I'm thinking more like minimalist kit for self preservation, whether defensive or offensive.

>>33726442
>I'd rather some one see me for an instant and register nothing
what's the idea here? everything other than black makes you invisible?

because any visible weapon would betray your inconspicuousness immediately, lets someone sees you at a funny angle that doesn't reveal an ar15 that's slung parallel to your body, or in my case a sbr barely poking out beyond a top layer, but they do see a strange outline of what is your plate carrier or chest rig. assuming all clothing on your torso + the pc/chestrig is the same pattern/color, what stands out the most at that point?

if your clothing+gear is some discernible camo pattern, that's probably the first thing because civilians don't wear that shit. same thing if not a pattern, but a solid color that's out of place. in the northeast, that'd be something like coyote/fde. let's say black, grey, and ranger green are what blends everything together well and discourages a second glance. at that point it might be the actual load out contained in the pc/chest rig that stick out. GI mags contrasting with black, pmags contrasting grey. everything contrasting ranger green unless you're fond of painting.

black is the easiest thing to have work successfully for blending low profile gear and the kit in your gear to your clothing.
