Gas-operated weapons actually use a small gas cylinder in the buttstock. You don't see it being changed out in movies because it lasts a lot longer than the clips soldiers carry.

Shooting a handgun sideways actually makes the weapon inaccurate because the barrel is actually loose inside the gun. If you tilt it sideways, it falls out of alignment with the sights, so the bullets end up hitting the ground in front of the target.

Bullets were invented 1817, by doctor Christopher Ephraim Bullet, a tinsmith living in southern Rhodesia. He was inspired by local shona tribesmen, who would fill hollowed out baobab seeds with faeces, and hurl them at passing animals for their own amusement.

The Kentucky long rifle was the first true marksman rifle fielded in battle. It proved it's worth when members of the first Kentucky volunteers used them to hold the British outside of musket range during the battle of bunker hill, and the defense of Concord.
