I would lik to own a DA/SA pistol and I think I want to buy pic related. Is there a better option for under $500?

SP2022 is pretty good, P-07 is also pretty nice.
>>
Maybe a CZ or Beretta. Even used most of the boat anchors are pricey except something like a P250.
>>
>>33701384
Police trade in sigs are a good start. But for new buys, you don't have a lot of choices, some of the CZ's, especially the polymer ones can be found close to that...if you can find any.

>>33701406
>>33701410

Yes, I've been looking at the SP2022, P-07, and Px4. The Sig feels the best in my hand, was wondering about the quality.

Save up for a legion, its tits

>Sig quality
Quite good. A used Beretta 92 is also easy to find unless you're set on a polymer frame. FN makes DA's but they are generally over 500 and have some mixed reviews. If the 2022 fits you can find them around 500 used. The Sig fanboys weren't crazy about them on release.
>>
QUESTION: what is the advantage of DA/SA over SAO in a gun that doesn't have a decocker or some way to safely carry with the hammer down on a live round in chamber?
Dud primer? That's a rare condition, even rarer that you could ignite it with a second strike in place (without rotating or rechambering the round.)
>>
>>33702062
I like it for appendix carry (hold the hammer down, making sure it doesn't go off while holstering) and the long, heavy pull of a DA trigger, explained why down below.

The PX4, P07 and SP2022 are the best polymer framed DA/SA pistols in that price range.

I do have a 226 but most of my experience with DA/SA comes from the PX4 Compact. Check out Luckygunner's review on it, fantastic gun and it's strongly underrated.
>>33702062
This >>33702116 anon's link explains everything. Completely forget the second strike capability as an advantage for DA/SA. Complete misconception. If you get a click instead of a bang, you tap rack or rack, whichever you believe in.

I do also carry AIWB DA/SA
>>
>>33701410
definitely this

just adding that my popotradein 5906 is what I want to be buried with to centermass Anubis if we don't get along.
>>
>>33701876
I'm picking mine up this weekend, glad to know I made a good choice
>>
>>33701384
Hard to beat, especially when you can find them on sale for under $400 pretty regularly.
>>
Not this dude but he's selling an SP2022 9mm for $350 with some extras

Picked one up yesterday, no ragerts
>>
>>33701384
I have one, I like it alot, I ended up paying like $530 out the door.
The trigger is not as nice as the 226, but its -$500
>>
>>33701446
The Sig and the P-07 have very different bore axis', with the latter being much lower in comparison. I have personally found Sig 9mm pistols to be more snappy compared to other pistols. Other than that, I will say both are great handguns and I don't have anything to say about the PX4 having never handled one. Only to say not a fan of slide mounted safeties.
>>
>>33702329
229 or 226?
>>
>>33702329
Also, know where I can pick up some spare mags? None of my lgs's have em in stock and one told me they were on backorder from sig
>>
>>33702626
I buy my P226 mags from 44mag. They're the 18rd Mecgars

Fuck me, they're cheaper than I got them too. $21 for a Mecgar, can't be beat.

https://www.44mag.com/category/mecgar

One big gripe I have about the Legion is how they have the 15rd Sig Sauer mags instead of the 18rd Mecgars.
>>
>>33701384
Just a quick heads-up, I love my 2022 but the factory magazines are like $40 apiece. Mec-Gar 17 rounders run $35-40 most places as well.

P226
>>33702626
Just use regular or mec-gar mags
>>
CZ P07, Px4 Storm and if you look really, really hard you can find used USPs under 500. FNPs are still around if you wanna deal with FN but I dont
>>
>>33702062
This right here

Only reason not to go SAO is if you don't like manual safeties which is very valid.
But honestly it become so ingrained that swiping safety off = ready to fire, that I frequently find myself rubbing the side plate of my revolvers with the side of my thumb

True SAOs are much better than cocked and locked Da/Sa - much crisper trigger with less travel and less take up.
>>
>>33702329
Despite they faggy marketing I think the legions look really sexy - wish they would make a p229 SAO though

Love the medallion grips but not crazy for the top of slide roll mark

Nice, I got the 229 because I wanna edc it, it's replacing my g19 that I gave to my girl. Midway has the factory mags for 40 a pop if that's a good price. I might just swing for the mecgars and get some of those rubber collars to make them look flush
>>
It was my first pistol, so it has a special place in my heart. It's very similar in operation to a 226, lighter, and cheaper. Mags are expensive but it's a very nice starter DASA pistol.
>>
While the px4 looks ugly, it's much more comfortable for me compared to the 2022 or the 07

Also look at third gen smith autos, used 92s or a dp51.

Absolute trash, why the fuck would you even bother

I can chime in on the Px4, since it was my CC before my p-07. The Px4 is a sort of happy medium between muzzle flip and push-back. The rotating barrel eats some of the force and the barrel stays parallel with the rest of the gun, insuring nice accuracy. Still, the recoil is a little more with the Px4 than with the p-07. As a trade off, I would say the stock trigger on the Px4 is a bit better than the p-07.

I started curating a list of options for some SA/DA pistols a bit ago. You might want to take a look at this, but be aware that there are plenty I've already removed from the list.

Just in case you can't figure this out, I made two lists for full-size SA/DA pistols with a light rail divided by the frame material. I included identification information (Make, Model, SKU) since I'm not in the market just yet and there's a good chance I'll just forget what I was looking at. MSRP is included as a comparison, but it should be noted actual prices are lower. Capacity is only for standard magazines; add 1 for the chamber. Sights are included just in case I decide I want to spend more money on different/not3dot sights. There are also notes for a number of pistols regarding deals and other.

EAA Witness for $350.

Full size CZ clone in steel frame made in Italy by Tanfoglio.
>>
I own one OP. Mines the fde night sight model. No issues at all and really reliable. Magazines are like an extra $45 tho.
