Why aren't there any pipe receiver guns that use the ar-15 bolt, barrel, barrel extension, and gas system? A steel pipe and the ar-15 bolt and barrel are like made for each others!

Why can't you find a qtddtot thread to ask your dumb ass questions in instead of killing a thread?
>>

cmon now, an ar-15 upper receiver and stock cost well over 100 bucks while some steel pipe costs two dollars.

Stupid nigger and a stupid nigger thread

>>33696315
at first glance yes, at closer inspection though you should notice that the gas key rides outside of the "pipe". only if you made the gun into a straight blowback/straight pull repeater could you wit it into a simple tube and omit the gas key.
>>
>>33696315
I don't know, I sketch a shitty ARSten every now and then. Seems to bugger me a lot.
>>
>>33696634
Just have a cutout in the pipe for the gas key like there is a cutout for the charging handle in many pipe guns.

>Just have a cutout in the pipe for the gas key like there is a cutout for the charging handle in many pipe guns.

to the gas tube would sit outside of the pipe, in the open? GENIUS! enjoy that gas blowback blinding you. it's annoying and borderline unsafe as it is already even when it's contained by the upper. I never shoot an AR without srs eye pro.

How about lengthening the gas key, a bit like in the LR300, not quite as long but long enough so that the gas key doesn't quite come off the gas tube at full rearward travel of the bolt?

could work but I don't see the point. a thin sheet metal stamping could be made from 0.5-0.25mm stainless steel that would give an 7075 receiver a run for it's money.

I've always thought this would make a great lightweight straight pull sporting rifle, here in Canada where ar's are restricted to range use only it would be the only way I can see to use ar parts on an innawoods gun

I was actually thinking of having the charging handle be a part of the gas key like in the early ar-10's and then just welding a carry handle/rear sight on top of the pipe.

It could be done in an MP-5 style flat bend.
Also, this is what I have in mind for a tube AR.

pls don't insult my profession by comparing me to the hacks at H&K. crunching the numbers I could have a jigg made for churning out uppers and lowers for around 15k.

You need a handguard on there if you want to be able to hold the rifle after firing more than one mag
>>
>>33697095
chris coastaguard/Travis failey pls go. ARs are meant to be held by the magwell.
>>
>>33697095
Well, we could probably wrap it in an old t-shirt like a middle-eastern militia man. Also, I forgot about the barrel retention nut.

Two dollars and how much time? More than a hundred dollars worth, I'll bet.
>>
>>33696966
>>33696949
>>33696837
I was thinking kinda like this, you could also use ar-15 handguards for this rifle. For the lower, some stamped sheet metal proprietary lower would probably do just fine.

With the lengthened gas key having gas blow into your face wouldn't be a problem. The rear sight might as well be stamped sheet metal welded on the pipe with a cutout for the gas key/charging handle so you can pull the bolt out of the back.
>>
>>33697200
Two dollars and a few cuts here and a few welds there. Hardly a hundred dollars worth of machining time.
>>
>>33696356
>What are locking lugs
You fuck this up it'll blow itself apart from the pressure.
>>
>>33697209
So how are you going to have to gas port in the bolt move backwards? Are you just redesigning the ar15?
>>
>>33697470

OP is either Europeen or he is under the age to buy an actual AR so he has hopes he will somehow be able to cobble one together to look cool somewhere else.
>>
>>33697435
I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
>>33697470
What i meant is to just have the gas key tube lengthened a bit so even at the rear of the bcg travel the gas key will not lose contact with the gas tube, this way any gas the blows at the imperfect joint of the gas key and gas tube will be blown forwards into the handguard.
>>
>>33697514
Nah, even yuros can get actual ARs.
That's some advanced retardation.
>>
>>33697524
Locking lugs need to be manufactured to relatively tight tolerances to prevent going full grenade and blowing your upper receiver apart.

I wouldn't trust a backyard machinist with random shit quality steel to make them to spec.
>>
>>33697572
Yeah and? I don't why you are saying something as self-evident as that when nobody has said anything to the contrary in this thread, are you arguing with the ghosts by any chance?
>>
>>33697614
Because you're trying to make a pipe AR you dim fuck.
>>
>>33697977
This whole thread has my head spinning because of how goddamn stupid op is.
>>
This op is so fucking dumb, that when he goes to suck dick, he sticks it in his nose or eyes. Because he can't even find his own mouth
>>
>>33697977
>pipe upper receiver somehow means that locking lugs aren't machined to tight enough specifications
Yeah ok dude i totally understand your logic there.
