At what age is it no longer boot or braggadocious to wear hats/lapel pins from your war/campaign?
>>
Tank you for your cervix
>>
50
>>
65, average retirement age. Same age you can start to wear Crocs on a daily basis and not get weird looks.
>>
>>33678728
You can talk about it anytime. Usually you only speak about it with other veterans.

You never speak about the men you've killed, or the men you lost.
>>
>>33678728
Dad years old
>>
>>33678760
>You never speak about the men you've killed, or the men you lost.
Why not? If it's worth doing, it's worth talking about.
>>
>>33678749

This. The only guys that look remotely normal wearing campaign hats are old as fuck
>>
>>33678830
We talk about it. Just not to outsiders.
>>
>>33678728
retirement age
>>
>>33678728
Wear that stuff on veterans day or your countries equivalent, its odd to wear it on a daily basis.
>>
>>33678728
>at what age is it acceptable to STILL be talking about a brief 4-8 period in your life that you still haven't gotten over?
Literally never, learn to let sleeping dogs lie

is it safe to wear your hats and lapel pins from the meme wars yet?
>tfw I still dont have my hat I ordered
>>
>>33678728
Depends on context, but usually middle age or older.
>>
>>33678760
False. Depends entirely on television individual because not all vets feel they need to bottle everything up. It's like you've never seen all the memorial bracelets and KIA unit hoodies
>>
>>33678908
>We talk about it. Just not to outsiders.
You can tell us man.

well aren't you a dark and mysterious badass

That feel when you have to wait 39 more years to wear it
>>
>>33678728
Honestly a few years after you separate. I was in for ten years and never had shit that said I was military and looked down on it.

After being out a few years I feel a bit of pride for what I've done and got a "veteran of the war in Iraq" plates and a k9 sticker. Nothing huge or really noticeable but a little something.

If I were still active I wouldn't have anything except the k9 sticker that most handlers have on their cars.
>>
Old timers or not, the only thing I think when I see these hats are

>You're welcome for my service

I'll never be wearing one. Ever.

The age you were at when you left. Might as well get a free hat if you actually were involved, I mean the only people that would give you shit about it are the grunts but in the service you pretty much deal with that bullshit in the FOB every day.

>>33678842
You can literally buy those hats and patches in the park booths at D.C.
>>
Don't get a stupid hat. Seriously, worst way to show something that should be respectable.

Wear your ribbons and awards on a suit (or your old dress uniform) at formal events, wear pins on shirts or suits in all other cases. Don't wear anything if you are going out in super casual clothes.
>>
>>33684304
Dress uniform only at service-related formal events, of course.
>>
>>33684304
Only old ass dudes wear vet hats like that.
>>
>>33679612
>But, I punctuate my sentences, cocksucker.
FTFY. "But", in this case, is used like "however", and it deserves the same treatment.
>>
>>33685765
You're allowed to start sentences with But if you've mastered the English language.
>>
>>33685797
>the point
>your head
>shit
>your reading comprehension
>>
>>33685814
No I get it, you added a comma.
>>
>>33678728
>At what age is it no longer boot or braggadocious to wear hats/lapel pins from your war/campaign?

after you are buried & rotting in the ground

if those peeps want to wear that stuff in their casket that's fine with me

and however long they want to wear it after they served is also fine with me

but you can't really tell who served just because they wear a baseball cap doesn't mean much eh ?
>>
>>33678728
at the very moment YOU decide to stop worrying what other's think of your personal choices and do what pleases you (within reason).
>>
>>33679554
>not wanting to discuss trauma with someone who has never experienced that trauma and wouldn't understand it
Yeah, how mysterious.
t. Someone that knows nothing about trauma
>>
>>33679554
Holy fuck make up your mind

>"blah blah every very just sounds like 'so I took the co to co back on the fob, when idf made the whole ao FUBAR' why can't they just talk normal? "

Or

>"just talk about it, I'm really understanding, ............ Yah the exact same thing happened to me, this one time I was paintballing"

That's why.
>>
>>33680594
Shake his hand and buy him a beer obviously for his sacrifice.
>>
>>33678728
i feel like the war has to be over, and this one still isnt over.

t. veteran
>>
>>33685914
Rekt. This guy fucking rekt you.
>>
>>33684280
dont be a pussy lol im ordering one of the black and gold ones, i cant wait until someone says something shitty to me about "your mocking servicemen and women!!!"

>im a veteran :D FMIRLFGTS
>>
>>33681031
I'm going to buy one for my father, then hopefully my kids get me one when I'm old af.

My grandfather had a ww2 one that we got for him. He was always extremely humble about his service, but you could tell the immense pride he felt when we got him the hat that he always wore it around.
Rest his soul, literally one of the greatest men to walk the earth.
>>
>>33679554
we dont fucking talk about shit like that because memelord teens like yourself cant act like adults when grown ass men talk about serious shit.

everything is just a fuckin joke to you kids.

If it's just about respect, people always think you're more of a badass if you never talk about your service.

Bring it up in court cases or in political debates though , because for some reason killing sand niggers thousands of miles away suddenly makes your opinion more valuable
>>
>>33681031
a lot of the old times, Vietnam, korea, WWII, wear the veteran hats so they can see eachother.

a lot of them ive met dont wear the hat for you, its so they can recognize comrades, and old war buddies. so they know that other old guy was in the battalion that he served in. so they can recognize memebers of their veteran community. its not all
> "youre welcome for my service you little ungrateful millenial shits, gtfo my lawn awwwhhgguuuhhh!!!"

imagine you get separated from your friends in a time when even phone service was a luxury a lot of americans didnt have. or a time when the internet was not even a dream yet, and mail took weeks and was often lost.

as for me and my generation, yea i agree. most of these faggots just want attention. just get the license plate to get out of tickets like everyone els and stop there.

majority of us were fuckin pogs anyways. hell my aviation unit hasnt lost anyone in YEARS. they just got back from a deployment not too long ago and they only person who died was an ANA guy that THEY FUCKING SHOT LIKE WTF, FRIENDLY FIRE BRUH?
>>
>>33685995
the only time i ever bring it up is when people talk about my MOS, the army, or on my resume because i actually continued my MOS as a civilian career.

other than that and people are just being douchebags.

>Wearing or displaying anything referencing your military service

The only time I do it is for discounts
>>
>>33685995
>you're more of a badass if you never talk about your service.
to people who never served (because precious few have any understanding of).
my old man had plenty of war stories to tell other vets after he retired from the service, and opened a tavern.
it worked out for him and the other vets because they were able to talk in a informal, no stress setting.
>>
>>33678908
>heh
>nothin personal, kid
>>
>>33680594
thank him for his service ofc
>>
>>33678728
>At what age is it no longer boot or braggadocious to wear hats/lapel pins from your war/campaign?

A soon a you get discharged and are dressed in civvies.
>>
>>33686924
Does that mean something to people under 20?
>>
>>33678728
As a never served I think any combat vet should wear whatever they fucking want. Why do you hate freedom you commie pinko cocksucker.
>>
>>33678728
never ... wear it in the coffin
>>
>>33678728

Any age. If you wear that shit you're looking for attention because you think joining an imperialistic cause and being told what to do for corporations was the high point of your boring and pathetic life.
>>
Only enlistedfags do that garbage because their life peaked in the military

Going from doing things that are exciting and mission critical to flipping burgers or sitting in a desk job making 80k+ (which you find to be boring). Military can be a highlight in anybody's life, enlisted or officer doesn't fucking matter when it comes to being a civilian, you're a nobody when you are out.
