http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4414446/Russian-warships-escorted-English-Channel.html

So, day ago Russian again sailed right thru English Channel.

It not first time they do so.

So, I have a question, what can be done about it? Why can't we just turn them around? They literally can't park their ships near Portsmouth, and blast half of RN out of the water.
>>
>>33673822
Fucking Russians violating international waters again. Moron.
>>
>>33673834
Its got English in the name though
>>
>>33673822
>So, I have a question, what can be done about it?

Practically nothing since that's international waters.

>Why can't we just turn them around?

Russians and see above.

>They literally can't park their ships near Portsmouth, and blast half of RN out of the water.

MAD and mutual agreements.
>>
>HMS Sutherland trying to look cool for the camera

This

China owns the South China Seas
>>
how badly would the russian frigate beat the british one?
>>
>>33673822
nothing can be done about it, the English channel to my understanding is considered international waters, sorta like the panama canal.
>>
>>33673860
It still kinda new for me.
When I ride a Eurostar, they tell that where is a point were French part of the Channel end and British begin.
>>
>>33673856
They'd both beat the shit out of each other

Neither is particularly armored, too close for any of their missile armament, so its just two ships fucking each other with cannon fire
>>
There's no way to know if OP is an actual retard or if he's merely pretending.

Also, it's called la Manche.
>>
>>33673856
>russian frigate
>20381
She is corvette
>>
>>33673856
They are fairly simmerly armed, the Pr.20381 frigates would have more advanced sensors than the Type 23, but apparently have issues with the radar.
It would just come down to whichever helicopter saw the other ship first.
>>
>>33673840
>HMS Sutherland
Why does a western, first world country ship look so 1960ish compared to a Russian one?
>>
>>33673895
Maybe because the ship in the picture is like 6 years old
>>
>>33673822
What the hell is wrong with the bongs?
Those ships should pass Oresund few miles from Copenhagen.
But I doubt any media reported it here in Denmark.
>>
>>33673901
This does not explain that Sutherland looks 30+ years older
>>
>>33673895
Type 23-class frigate was designed in 70s and launched in 1997.

Steregushchiy-class corvette was designed in 90s and launched in 2008
>>
>>33673903
It's international fucking waters, OP is just a giant retard. A typhoon nuclear sub will pass under the Great Belt Bridge soon, hopefully in daylight.
>>
>>33673903
You do not have The Sun and Daily Mail in Denmark
>>
>>33673822
Why would you want to do something about it? They're not exactly breaking any laws by peacefully moving through the world's busiest seaway?

They're passing between some of the most capable navies in the world and under extremely dense air coverage.

>>33673856

They're two different kinds of ships build for different missions.

One is a blue water ASW hunter, the other is an upgunned OPV. Two different missions reflex requirements differently.

>>33673895

Because, maybe the Type 23 was designed in the 80s and the Steregushchiy class was designed in the 90s? You'd think the age of each of them would be a give away why one looks older.
>>
>>33673917
>was designed in 70s
Thanks, this explains a lot
>>
>>33673908
Sutherland is pretty much the last generation of ships before they decided to change to the flat hull sides rather than the more traditional exposed walkways and stores, that's why she looks like a traditional light Frigate, and the Russian ship is newer and fits the design approach we've been pushing as 'new' with our later Destroyers.
>>
>>33673856
In this current situation brits will lose because they outnumbered two to one.
>>
>>33673908
>Ship produced from a new design 6 years ago vs a ship produced 21 years ago from a design made in the 70s

:big think:
>>
>>33673890
>frigates
She is corvette blyat
>>
>>33673835
>Its got English in the name though
Russians call it la Manche, so it's international waters for them and frogs
>>
>>33673987
It's a guard ship, probably best translates as frigate.
>she
Russians don't do that, cyka.
>>
>>33673908
It doesn't. It looks like every ship that was built around that time.
>>
Why don't the British sail into the Black Sea just for shits and giggles? Or go and buzz St. Petersburg or Mumansk?

idk generally every time a Typhoon takes off from Coningsby to intercept an airliner that might be hijacked it causes headlines

>some civilian aircraft loses radio contact
>QRA at Coningsby scramble
>take off with full afterburner and go supersonic at fairly low altitude
>eternal butthurt from pensioners that below the flight path who get their flower pots broken by the sonic boom

Try looking at a Type45 at least
>>
Nothing can be done short of shooting or ramming.
>>
>>33674744

Why would you?

These ships are submarine hunters that frequently do strenuous and lengthy deployments. It doesn't matter how they look so much, just how they sound.

The entire class is going through a modernization program and the replacement class is having its steel cut this summer.

Remember in Obama's last two years all that "Russian Aggression" in international airspace? It was taxing to explain the concept of international airspace.

There's a Korean movie on Netflix called Northern Limit Line.

Pretty good combat footage between patrol boats.

It was a good movie. check it out.

It really hilarious how brits tend to overreact to things.

I remember back when Kuznetsov was heading to Med, French MoD release a statement that they don't give a fuck about Kuznetsov, because it not threatening a France in any way.

While brits made out of this Hunt for Red October, despite it was entire carrier strike group with nuclear powered battlecruiser.
>>
>>33673822

The Channel (it's not "the English Channel", it's "the Channel") is an international waterway. Anyone can sail whatever they want through it.
>>
>>33677461

France never did anything because it was in the UK's sphere of responsibility in the channel. Every single country in the world responds to things that close in that way.

What you're confusing "the UK" with is "the fucking Daily Mail".
>>

I legit don't understand how this is possible. Did they ram the 5 Icelandic patrol vessels? Was there a short blue on blue?

Did they run the frigates aground?
>>
>>33678009

There was a crapton of ramming, yes.

Really shouldn't be playing crash stop bounces in the channel area either, its busy.
