Ok /k/ I'm currently working on growing my Fun collection. I want to know what's your top 6 . Let's put a list together of the 6 guns everyone should own.
>>
For an absolute newb I say:

Full sized 9mm
10/22 or henry lever action
22lr pistol (mk3, buckmark, or victory)
Ar-15 (prices are low and lowering)

Whatever else you want is optional, shotguns overatted imo

Have a good night.

>>33668990
>10/22
>.22lr handgun

>Bolt action in a full rifle caliber
>>
you can just distill it all the way to:

>semi-auto rifle
>bolt action rifle
>shotgun
>handgun

just 4 guns can give you everything. You can even pick a compact handgun to fill role of home defense and carry.

Right now you can buy a decent budget one from Ruger or Smith & Wesson for $500. Core 15 also makes a pretty good one around the same price and they have the best warranty in the biz right now.

Please understand why I posted only 4. The issue is you have then to stock on ammunition. 6 different types is insane if you are just starting out. Why not go for a familiar pattern on the cheap?

>Hi-Point .45 acp
>Hi-Point carbine .45 acp
>Mossberg 500 12 gauge
>Savage 64f .22LR

In the previous post the 5.56 made up for the .45 acp. In the current post you now only require 3 types of ammunition. Again on the cheap for you all chanting 1911.
>>
>>33669789
no problem. there are a lot of other options for budget ARs, but having just got one myself, my researcg concluded that those were the best 3 options out there. Other cheaper options are DPMS, Bushmaster, Anderson or PSA, but i'd rate the 3 previous 3 better. Some people will say you should BUILD an AR based on parts kits etc, but it's not really a good option for newbies.
>>
>>33669837
>Hi-Point .45 acp
gay, get a 9mm glock/Springfield/Beretta/walther/whatever
>Hi-Point carbine .45 acp
gay, get a 9mm
ar/jrc/sig/aero/whatever
>Mossberg 500 12 gauge
well, no one is wrong 100% of the time
>Savage 64f .22LR
gay, get a different 22
anything ruger
>>
>>33668990
Ruger 10/22
A full size DA/SA 9mm auto handgun
Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 pump
Modern sporting rifle (AR/AK/bullpup) chambered in an intermediate cartridge.
Mil-surp
Mil-surp
30-30 lever gun
>>
>>33669923
I will fight you on the 64f, that thing is a beast. The rest is correct.

The idea is limit the man to 3-4 types of ammunition to begin with. Lesser the better in many cases. Trying to find the perfect 9mm is hard enough for many.

no, the savage is gay. get a ruger. also checked.

Savage will rock you.. well, it wont be so bad on your wallet. Yeah the Ruger is better but it costs more and then it has a lot more accessories for it. I am still with Savage camp for cost reasons.

Noob starter kit - survival or prepper bias

.22 rifle - Ruger 10/22 is my recommendation but there are tons of others

.22 target pistol Rugen 22/45 or Mk4 would be my choice w. threaded barrel

5.56 AR - my advice is to buy a BCM, buy once, cry once and lifetime durability, if you're going to go entry level or anything other than mil-spec or better - go Windham Weapons.

12 GA shotgun - the guy who said they're overrated doesn't know anything about shotguns. Best home defense gun with a short barrel. Incredibly versatile for hunting anything from birds to bears with a longer barrel. Great for camping, hunting, survival, self-defense. Cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, tons of different ammo options, always plentiful, cheap and easy to reload, I have a Remington 870 magnum with a 28" barrel 3.5" chamber for hunting and an 18.5 barrel chambered for 2.75" shells for home defense. If I want to go hunting, I swap barrels and off I go.

9mm carry pistol - Glock, Sig, XD, M&P, take your pick. I use M&P9c with Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr for carrying ammo or 147+p gold dots

.38/.357 revolver, cheaper to shoot than .45, easier to reload, provides more shooting options. great to train on, for a 5 shot subby, they're great for pocket carry when I don't want to holster my M&P and something like an S&W 686+ is great for range, hunting, camping, bedstand gun

30 cal bolt action - Entry level I'd go Savage 10-FCP 20" threaded barrel in 308. It's bench rest accuracy with sniper durability for $500. Buy good glass. Remington's are too - eh, they USED to be great, but today, for the money, I'd still take a Savage over a Remmy. For more money and long distance precision in the entry level, I'd go with the Ruger precision in 6.5 Creedmore but you're talking about a lot more money. 1 grand for rifle + glass plus a lot more expensive rounds. When you can outshoot the mechanical accuracy of the Savage - then move up, until then, don't waste your money

>for cost reasons.

been there, done that. keep on keeping on homie.

We are in the same camp sir, we just spend more in different areas.

Depends what you have.

I'd say.
1) Pistol or revolver in 9mm, .38spl, maybe .40, .380, 10mm or .45 that you can conceal. Bonus points for being able to shoot it well.
let preference guide you. There are many good choices that people will argue about forever.
2) Cheap pump-action 12ga. Ideally Mossberg combo set. Allows for an HD/blasting/skeet/trap/hunting/limited SHTF gun all in one. Can be 20ga if you are recoil-shy, IMO 20ga is very underrated.
3) Semi-auto centerfire rifle of some sort. Typically AR-15 because holy fuck they are cheap right now, but can be a battle rifle if you'd prefer one instead. Can function for HD/SHTF/range/precision shooting.
4) Longer-range rifle in .308 or something comparable. Can be a surplus rifle, maybe a lightweight scout rifle, maybe a modern 1-MOA out-the-box precision bolt gun. If you get a battle rifle this can overlap with #4.
5) .22 LR rifle of some kind. Great for honing skill as long as you don't get trigger-happy. I particularly dig the CZ452, if you find one buy it. If you have an AR-15 there are dedicated .22LR uppers or drop-in bolt conversions that allow you to overlap, although standalone guns are cheaper.
6) Some kind of .22 pistol for the same reason. Many modern auto pistols have .22LR conversion slides, which allows you to overlap with #1 although standalone guns are often cheaper.
>>
>>33668990
>A 9mm handigat, full sized preferred
>AR-15
>Bolt action .22LR and/or a 10/22
>A 12ga shotgun
>A bolt action rifle firing a decently sized round and a nice scope to go with it
>If you don't intend on using option one as your carry gun, something a little smaller/easier to conceal in whatever caliber tickles your dick.
>>
>>33672750
I'm going to add onto this for the sole fact of mentioning that I'd personally recommend a Ruger American for the bolt .22, because if you decide you want a 10/22 as well, you can share mags. I got the threaded barrel American through a dealer kickback, and I love it. It's not the most attractive gun, nor is it the most well made, but I'll be fucked if it isn't a good shooter with irons and you can beat it to fuck. It probably helps I got it for free, but if I never did, I'd absolutely buy one, especially for the price they're at.
>>
>>33668990
Glock 17/19
AR in 5.56
AKM
Mossberg 500/590/590A1/Benelli Nova/Super Nova
CZ 512
AR-10/Scar 17 if you want to beat optics to death for no reason
