You wear them and do physical things in them. Within a day or two of wearing them alone you'll already be able to tell if they're shit or not. You could buy two pairs of the same jeans and they'll feel and last differently. I can't believe I have to explain this who buys your clothes.

How they wear, as in looking used, definitely is different. This will make me sound like a hipster, but cotton takes on a character (depending on how they are dyed). People here are advocating jeans but I like cargo pockets and colors other than blue/grey too. On the other hand, I have some vertex poly/cotton pants that I've worn a bit and they look the same as when I bought them. A lot of tactical clothing is designed for athletics, but it looks very different. Looking old and used makes people think you have less valuable.

Don't know what it is but jeans + physical activity or any kind of warm weather gives me swamp ass. Most other pants, I'm fine.

In the summer I just wear hiking boots + wool socks and above the knee cargo shorts, like ripstop or something. Also have some REAL shorts like pic related but my skin is white as shit.

For the last three years I've been buying dickies most basic jean. No stonewash. No carpenter or cargo pockets. Stiff and heavy at first, but after being worn for a month or two they break in nice. Full size pistol IWB everyday too. Size 34x32 so not a fat fatty but still need to lose at least 20 pounds.

DESU my Levi's are worn regularly just as clothes. My Target brand jeans are what I mix concrete in and they are surprisingly durable. The Levi's are very thin material that is soft and comfortable, the Target ones are thick and rougher feeling.
Levi's are great daily wear pants but I wouldn't waste the $60 to use them as anything else. I've torn the knees out of all of my old Levi's at some point.
