Non-slavshit owner here.
How is the 7.62x39 availability right now and projected into the future?

I might be getting a Vz 58 this week so I was wondering.
Now I don't expect to see $300 surplus cases at the LGS for much longer but if commercial production kept going for something like 50 cents a round I'd be perfectly happy with that.

>What kinda gun do you want anon?
Honestly I don't know. That's kind of the issue.
It has to be NR and I prefer semi-autos so I guess that narrows it down a fair bit.
I already have a M14S and I love it to bits.

I just want a FAL for fuck's sake
>>
>>33670359

$1,500 gets you a lot.

Half of that gets you the slav trifecta of SKS, SVT-40 and mosin nagant.

You can get a Type 97 with the flat top upper installed.

You can import an M1 Garand parts kit from Aztech Armory.
>>
>>33670429
What about a vz58? Or a polytech special? They're both about that price and cheap to feed.
>>
>>33668181
Russia still makes most of the stuff over here, but there are other sources that are very secure

Romania produces steel ammo that is currently imported, as does Hornady
S&B, Lapua, Hornady, PPU, Federal, Winchester, and probably some smaller manufacturers all make brass cased ammo these days

all these sources are very secure
host countries are unlikely to see major conflict of be subject to sanctions for the foreseeable future
additionally, Ukraine produces ammo, and it was imported
whenever that situation settles down, that'll start coming in again too

additionally, there are likely untapped sources if demand were to suddenly spike or if Russian ammo were dropped
for example, I'm sure Poland produces 7.62x39 in quantity, but it isn't imported
same deal for other former Societ Bloc states that haven't switched to 5.56 yet

The person they sell it to is going to be recorded in the transaction.

If you buy directly from the importer, decide you didn't like the cheap Chinese rifle after all and then sell it to someone else, if it eventually ends up in the hands of some criminal, through whatever means, and they go to the importer who says "Well, we sold it to Anon...", how do you feel about the cops kicking down your door and treating you like an accessory to whatever crime the shistain committed with it?

Yeah, no. Stretching it.

Also...
>not keeping records of who you sell your guns to
Is fucking reckless when it comes to private sales.
>>
>>33675798
It specifically says that the importer has to make sure that no one who cannot own the firearm gets access to it. So yes, you would need to record their name on the sale. No stretching there.

Even if you record the name of whoever you sold it to, you'd have to hold onto it for at least SIX YEARS.
>>
>>33670877
I'm surprised you aren't showing us dozens of 80% lowers you completed and haven't registered. for such a flagrant law breaker that you claim to be, it seems interesting you haven't done that yet. did the department not want to allocate funds for a new drill press?
>constable wants to be hardcore and entrap stupid Anons with scurry ghost ARs, but the govt won't let him, so he has to make do with confiscated prohibs from storage
>>
>>33675809
where does it say importer has to keep record of individual sales? having to verify the person being sold to has a valid license was always the requirement, it does not translate to having to record it. the record part deals with importation not with sales after.

The redundancy of markings and additional paperwork will add wait times and costs that will impact the consumer and thus negatively impact the size of the sports and hunting community and weaken gun rights over time by making them more and more expensive and thus accessible only to the more and more wealthy

but this is not the same as LGR
>even if you were right, which you are not, but even if you were: this "registry" would not make any sense as some of the largest importers don't do retail -- North Sylvia brings in VZ58s, M305s and T97s, sells them in bulk to local gun stores, keeps record of those sales as they would anyway and record of importation... the end, no further records are kept on vast majority of the firearms in terms of individual sales from local stores as those stores aren't the importer
TL;DR: your argument fails even under your own stretched and misinterpreted premises
>not the anon you were arguing with before
>>
>>33676002
>having to verify the person being sold to has a valid license was always the requirement, it does not translate to having to record it. the record part deals with importation not with sales after.
Except for the part where if they do not keep documentation proving such that they are liable for 250k in fines.

>16No person or organization that is authorized under a permit issued under this Act to export or transfer goods or technology, to import goods or to broker shall transfer the permit to, or allow it to be used by, a person or organization that is not so authorized.

>(5)If a person or organization fails to keep adequate records for the purposes of this Act, the Minister may, in writing, require them to keep any records that the Minister may specify, and they shall keep the records specified by the Minister.

>19(1)Every person or organization that contravenes any provision of this Act or of the regulations is guilty of
>(a)an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to a fine not exceeding $250,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or to both; or

I do not claim that it is the same as the defunct long-gun registry, but it is very much problematic.
>>
>>33676105
keeping of records and making sure the person or business is "authorized" pertains to the importation/exportation license and its transfer, not to sales of actual firearms. read the greentext you posted

>I ain't even mad that peapple are panicking and over-reacting to this. Libs will never see firearms community as rational or good, so there is no danger in appearing over-reactionary or irrational. the more stink there is about any legislation, even the less damaging ones to firearms owner's rights, the less the likelihood of really bad laws being floated

>>
>>33679361
The big cities in the US and Canada are pretty much the same in terms of shit, as well as good. The big advantage the US has is the stronger states prevent some of the shit overflowing from those cities onto the smaller communities in other states.

Imagine if the US was like Canada, and California had the same outsized influence that Quebec has. Conversely, imagine if our provinces had more power to go with all those responsibilities successive federal governments have passed onto them (like shouldering the bulk of healthcare costs when it was supposed to be more evenly apportioned)

stop thinking at the most macro level possible.

as far as your own individual quality of life is concerned, you're almost guaranteed better off in burgerland with very few exceptions like being low income, cost of university tuition, having pre-existing medical conditions, etc.
>>
>>33682746
Depends. My quality of life in western Canada is way higher than average in the US and I don't even have a particularly good job. If you live in the maritime, Quebec then maybe you would be better off in the US, but there are still incredible regional differences.

It is hard not to talk at a macro level when considering a country as diverse as the US.

The zero wait times thing is a meme. Less wait time on elective surgery, yes, but some of their emergency rooms look worse than ours.
>>
>>33684357
I once sat in an emergency room for THIRTY-TWO HOURS while LITERALLY DYING OF DYSENTERY when all I needed was for someone to swab my arm and hook me up to a bag of saline.

My neurologist wanted me to get an MRI. After waiting a year and a half, I moved out of the province only to get a call nearly a year after that asking me if I could come in three days later.

Despite knowing that I was anemic and had peripheral neuropathy, NONE of the 30+ doctors I saw over 15 years of my health going down the shitter bothered to test my B12 levels. I had to spend hours and hours and hours, bedridden, googling symptoms, potential causes and learning to do their fucking job and then convincing one to fucking test it did we finally discover that I was on the verge of fucking death for my entire adult life and that the only reason I stayed alive, albeit severely disabled, was because I ignored every fucking doctor who told me I was eating too much meat.

Quebec's medical system is SO GOOD that when their watchdog writes a report saying most of the hospitals in the province are absolute shit and that they should study the 3-4 hospitals who actually do a good job and emulate their success everywhere else, they defund the office entirely to get rid of the position because we can't have the peons know that the system is completely fucked (At least until they have to use the system themselves).

TL;DR? The medical system is a fucking joke and if you fucking brag about it I will shove the biggest appendage I can still fucking move so far up your ass that it'll take three years for you to get an appointment to have it removed.
>>
>>33684547
oh, and America's medical care isn't actually that expensive if you have insurance

for example, I have never paid more than $10 for a prescription of anything, because I have insurance, that's down from the ~$300 some of the meds I've taken would cost without insurance for a 30 day supply

but America's medical system has its fuckups too
I was having an allergic reaction to *something* when I was a kid
so, my mom called up the doc and told her the symptoms, and the doc wrote up a prescription and forwarded it to the pharmacy based on that
mom and I get to the pharmacy later that day and the pharmacist is freaking because she prescribed a dose of steroids suitable for a large adult for an 8 year old kid

but, in America, we have the freedom to choose, so we got a different doc after that
>>
>>33684607
I'll do you one better on the prescription thing:
>Have an ear infection
>Doctor asks if I have any allergies
>Yes, I'm allergic to penicillin
>Prescribes antibiotic
>Go to pharmacy literally next door
>Uhhh, your file says you're allergic to penicillin. Is that correct?
>Yes, why?
>Because he prescribed you penicillin.
The bitch at the counter wanted me to wait ANOTHER 4 fucking hours to see a doctor. I had to argue with her 20 fucking minutes before they realized I wasn't going to and had a doctor give me a prescription that wouldn't fucking kill me.
>>
>>33684547
What you're describing is an exceptional case. And I'm not saying our system is perfect but the actual studies find the US also suffers from wait times. The areas where the US has lower wait times are also the areas where their crappy excuse for medical insurance still leave prohibitively expensive copays for the patient.

For basic services like a doctor visit or an ER visit it's still shit. I find in my own observation the things that need to be done for ER wait times is:
1. Charging lonely old ladies that fake chest pains just to sit around wasting a doctors time for attention.
2. Half the things people in the ER are waiting for could easily be handled by a triage nurse.
3. Le aging population meme.
I really don't want to sound unsympathetic but making resounding public policy changes based on isolated sob stories is completely retarded.
>>
>>33684643
the point is, the canadian health care experience is not worth ~50% of your income being consumed by various taxes.
>>
>>33684643
>for basic services like a doctor visit... it's still shit
$20 is shit?
never paid more than $20 out of pocket for a normal visit
>>
>>33684643
Cases like mine are far from difficult to find and in a well designed and operated health system should NEVER HAPPEN.
>>
>>33684658
I make decent middle class money. I live in a province with an exceptionally high provincial income tax. My marginal tax rate is around 30%. And you can save a lot on sales tax by buying groceries instead of living off of pizza and hamburgers and not buying new items where perfectly good used items are available (and help le planet meme in the process).

So half of my income doesn't get consumed by taxes. I agree that our medical system is still crap. My point was never that it's good. Just that the problem lies in the way people think within society. The great divide between idiots who think it's free, and idiots who are obsessed over meaningless buzzwords like "Freedom" with the solution likely lying within some unattainable middleground.
>>
>>33684712

>>
>>33684754
Define freedom?
If I walk to the end of my front walkway is that freedom? If I walk to the end of my front walkway towing a wagon full of bricks and mortar is that freedom?
If I bring that wagon to my neighbors front door is that also freedom?
What if I brick off his front door? Is that freedom?
Freedom outside of a raw, anarchistic state of being is a meaningless buzzword. I vehemently dislike Noam Chomsky, but I'm really channeling him here, it's one of those pretty phrases that doesn't mean anything that is thrown around to manufacture consent.
>You don't want internet providers selling your information to advertisers? You don't hate "Freedom" do you anon?
In the case of an organized society the word freedom means nothing. A word like liberty on the other hand actually does have a relevant meaning. I have the liberty to park my wagon full of bricks wherever I want, on my own property. But if I throw them through your window that violates the NAP

So when someone says "freedom", the first thing that comes to your mind is doing something to impede on someone else's freedom? That says a lot about you and none of it is very flattering.

>So half of my income doesn't get consumed by taxes.
do you drive a car? how many liters in gas do you consume a week? gas/carbon tax is a thing.
do you own a home? do you pay property tax? land tax?
do you buy shit in general? surely you take gst/pst/hst into account?
how unreasonably overpriced is your car insurance, phone bill, internet bill, etc? That might as well be a tax because of how protected by the federal government those anti-competition those industries are.

so yeah, not just talking about direct income tax fucko. you and everyone else here is getting shafted here whether you want to admit it or not.
>>
>>33684849
You're wrong because your freedom ends where the freedom of another begins. Your first thought was going on someone else's property and cutting off the opening (restricting their freedom of movement). Your understanding of freedom is so flawed that you immediately go to the exact antonym of freedom and then use it as a justification to trivialize the entire concept and as a reason to berate anyone who believes in the importance of freedom.

Recent events have made his "Canada's Trump" shtick less-than-viable to a decent chunk of the right wing voter base, so he might be going further in that direction to win 'em over. Or maybe I'm an idiot and reaching, both are options.

Anyone know of any ranges around Montreal that let you shoot rifle cartridges in the standing position?

The only range I've went to that allows you to stand is an indoor range where only pistol calibers are allowed
>>
>>33691484
There's the CRAFM in Lachine by highway 20 (Brace your wallet, for the sucscription fee though). They got a rifle bay that goes up to 50m and a 25m pistol bay. Nice staff all around, there's also a prone-shooting position lane in the rifle bay.
They don't allow people to use steel cores, though, so you can kiss your 7.62x39 surplus goodbye (Unless you got a non-steel core batch).

Outside of the island, there's either Ruisseau Noir in Terrebonne, or L'Acadie in Saint-Jean-De-Richelieu, although that might get closed since there's a bullshit new bylaw coming in that could get it shut down (Regarding loud noises).

It all depends. Infantry support trades are usually fine because either way you're limited in how hooah you can be, just like the rest of the support trades.

If you're res combat, and god forbid you're res infantry, be prepared for roasting like you've never received. This goes double if you're in a historic unit with the balmorals or kilts, weekend warrior won't be the worst you'll hear.

Honestly? I don't mind reservists, because you guys DO work just as hard with LESS training, but you guys miss out on all the cocking that builds the bonds between reg force guys, and that's just something you've gotta keep in mind.

>Are chink M14s/305s really as shitty as I've been hearing?
Yes and no.
The biggest thing you need to look out for is an overindexed barrel that will give you canted sights.
Everything else is fine. Don't listen to the retards saying you have to replace a bunch of different parts to make it work.
You get a fine rifle for ~$700
>>
>>33702102
They're mostly fine, the op rod spring guide is the first thing to replace. Followed by shimming the gas system if you have reliability issues.

Accuracy wise its not really a good design in general, its a 2-3 moa gun.
>>
>>33702102
I think the 308 is deserving of a better made, more accurate rifle.

Pretty much this. Even if you lovingly hand load match grade rounds and fire them out of a tuned M14 you can expect a consistent 1.5moa at best.

It also needs constant tinkering to keep it that way. The reason why the US Army uses it as a DMR rifle is because they already had a shit ton of them in storage.

I love my M305, but if I was a burger I'd just put all that time, effort, and money I'd have to spend on a brand name M14 towards a 308.AR.

I like the retro aesthetics, so that's the look I'm gonna do. Plus the Mk.III is just sexual.

Its a pretty great gun, unfortunately if you wanted something close to spikes gun the rail-less ones are really hard to find.
>>
>>33704828
>Fiberglass handguard
Early M1As -- the ones that used forged M14 blanks -- had wood handguards.
Don't worry, your receiver is forged too -- you can tell by the (tm) after Springfield Armory. It's not the kind of forgery you want, though.

Go get yourself an LRB receiver and rebuild it.

It depends on a few things, like what you're going to college for and if it meshes with what you want to do in the military. As a reservist you get rebates on university/college tuition, and most reserve units will have bursaries that you can apply for. You could go to RMC and have your college covered if you wanted to do reg force, but there's the 4 year minimum commitment with that. And having to be at RMC...

I don't mind the rail. Honestly, I just find the bebop reference funny. Looking for a dependable pistol is all.

wasn't there a pretty high likelihood he was doing illegal shit?

my understanding is buying and selling in a normal capacity is fine but you can't just conduct yourself like an arms dealer

pretty sure it's illegal to keep buying/selling too much shit in the US as well
>>

IIRC they claimed he was operating in a "business like" manner, so he needed to have a business class license or something like that.

yeah, like i said i don't think what he was doing in the US would be legal either, you're not allowed to be an amateur arms dealer

I've always wanted to own a luger. Now that I have the income to pursue this, where should i start? I know the regular models are prohib based on barrel length. What are the chances of me being able to track down a shootable Artillery Luger?
>>
>>33712191
Arty lugers are crazy expensive, you really want to be looking for rebarreled P.08's or Swiss lugers.

Commercial Carbine luger basically a 7.63 arty. $20,000
https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/commercial-dwm-luger-1902-carbine/

7.63 mauser, swiss contract luger. $2,600
https://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/swiss-luger-mod-1929-765-parabellum-30-luger-spare-mag-and-holster-22
>>
>>33712262
>20k
Holy smokes. Are 9mm lugers even harder/more expensive to find?
>>
>>33712309
9mm rebarrel P.08's will run you ~$2-3k dependent on quality(last time I was looking at them anyway).
Best places to look are the EE and at auctions. Any German luger's at stores will probably be way overpriced.
>>
>>33712191
There are rebarreled Lugers around, though difficult to find. If you both a prohib luger, and someone who can buy it, then you can have them buy the Luger with your money, rebarrel it to R length, then sell to you once the registration is changed.
>>
>>33712336
>>33712347
Thanks a lot guys. This all sounds much more promising than I anticipated!
>>
>>33712376

If you go this route
>>33712347
it's also kinda hard to find R-Length luger barrels right now too. However Dlask does make batches of them every once and a while.

Is anyone else not really hyper booty blasted over the UN Firearms Marking bullshit? Like, it's retarded, and I'm fighting it. Already sent in my letters and what not, but if at the end of the day we're stuck with it for 5 years, it's not going to do much. That $200 dollar price tag increase is a big meme and at the end of the day individual retailers will be handling the engravings more than likely, so... I don't know.

Is anyone else just really apathetic towards it since it's likely the Liberals are using this as their "We solved gun violence!" cross to bear and it's probably all the political capital they will spend on anti-gun shit?
>>
>>33711519
i doubt they would have harassed him if he wasn't a retarded chink
>>
>>33713350
I wouldn't be so sure about that last bit. We're talking about a party who has campaigned on banning all handguns and semi-autos for over a decade.
>>
>>33713363
Sure, but if there is one thing we know about the Liberal party is that they can't be trusted. They just fucked themselves over on the Weed issue.

Any debate on firearms laws gets sidetracked real fast once you bring stats into it. It becomes a propaganda fight almost instantly. Liberals have the advantage by the CBC sucking their dicks but at the same time, they have such bad optics right now over weed getting into a one sided fight on firearms won't help. They had the former Toronto Police Chief advocating for MJ legalization and they still fucked it up.

If the Con's advocate for legalizing all the weeds they might win next term in a landslide, or atleast the NDP will.

>>33713399
Yeah I fucking hate drug use, and have seen peoples lives destroyed (and ended) over drug and alcohol abuse... But if you are going to do it, atleast go all in and slurp up those delicious fucking taxes.

I really fucking hate the Liberal party because my values most closely align with theirs, but they are so corrupt and so insane they will never earn my vote. They could be in government for 50 years if they just knocked their shit off and had a more realistic view of firearms but no, they have to be fucking retarded and do all the dumb shit
>>
>>33713388
>They just fucked themselves over on the Weed issue.
How so, from what I read the proposed legislation is legalization of up to 30 grams for adults?
>>
>>33713454
They campaigned heavily on legalizing weed, as in, turning it into a legal industry sort of like alcohol. Or atleast that was the "message" they leaked out even if they didn't directly say it.

Now it's just decriminalized, and you are able to grow your own plants, but trafficking and shit is still in place. And if your plant is too tall you've committed an indictable offence.
>>
>>33713454
you can only buy 30 grams at a time, it would be like putting limits on alcohol purchases

heavy weed smokers who are smart buy in bulk and it becomes very affordable, these people will continue to purchase through the black market since they won't be able to do what they already do legally anyways

why would you pay $200+ an ounce when you can buy a quarter pound for $500

in vancouver weed is quasi legal through dispensaries but people still prefer to buy from dealers for this reason
>>
>>33713466
>>33713464
I see, so this legislation won't realy do anything to stop dealers from selling weed?

I don't do drugs so I don't care but my number one issue on the topic is stopping the black market traffic in the shit.
>>
>>33713505
If you want to be a small time dealer, I mean, you probably could still stay within the legal limits and sell to a close friend if you want to make a little bit of extra cash, since all the other standby's in which you could get fucked for it are no longer in place (ie possession, growing pot) but it's not legal since you won't be licensed for it.

But it's going to be as illegal as you selling your best friend a 2-4 of beer so, who the fuck is going to stop you?
>>
>>33713428
the thing is i say this and i smoke weed nearly every day

i hate stoner culture though, most of the people i know who smoke weed are productive normal members of society and have nothing to do with any of the stereotypical bullshit
>>
>>33713536
I would think we should mostly care about large scale dealers. Aren't those the guys usually connected to some form of organized crime?

If the transition can be made to reasonably priced availability in commercial shops similar to tobacco shops, I can't see why people would continue to go to a dealer. I guess the black market will still exist for minors to take advantage of so that is a problem

Then again, I don't know how drug users minds work so whatever

>I can't see why people would continue to go to a dealer
Because the deal sells large scale at cheaper prices per unit then legal markets.
Think of places where farmers sell crops and livestock.
Weed (cannibus) is the same thing.
Why not just let people do what they want as long as there is no violent intention and let people be.
If Canada let go of some really far left ideas and legalized allowed you to own what guns you want while keeping the license system it would be great.
OC and CC of handguns would be nice but I understand this countrys fear of metal.
