What's a super light .22lr that is suppressor ready and conforms to strict SAWC? Looking for something really light and fun.

Pou is a virtual pet game for BlackBerry, iOS and Android developed and published by Paul Salameh. It features a rounded, triangular alien character
>>
>>33668373
That thing is like 5 pounds almost. Totally heavy dude.
>>
The Ruger is going to be the easiest one to equip with a suppressor. The fact that they come in pink and have girl's sizes should indicate how heavy they are.

Hint:
Holes in the barrel are not what you want if you're trying to suppress it.
>>
>>33671269
Thats a barrel shroud, aka a shoulder thing that goes up.
The barrel does not have holes in it.

Size and weight constraints?

I know of some older model .22 bolt actions that work. Just...not suppressor ready.
>>
>>33672021
The suppressor on the De Isle goes all the way over the holes in the barrel.
>>
>>33672106
I think something like a Savage rascal with a light scope on it and some extensions on the stock would be good. But unfortunately threading the barrel would remove the value from it.

Entirely the point. The barrel shroud is the suppressor. Conveniently, they both come off in that model.

>>33672125
I'm not familiar with that model. I do, however, understand the problem with the refinishing and devaluing. I have the same issue with my Granddad's .22.

Consider making your own suppressor? PVC pipe, steel wool, twist lock over the iron sight?
>>
>>33672211
I want something a little more permanent as such, so I'd prefer threads.

I am curious as to how a PVC suppressor would perform though. Would be lighter than something like an oil filter.

Extractor works perfectly. Firing pin sits 1.2mm proud of the recessed bolt face (carved out just big enough for the shell rim) and has a 1mm x 8mm spring pushing it (the striker spring), so that acts as the ejector as soon as brass clears the chamber. Drops into my hand as I tip the rifle to the right so I maintain brass control. I went with a somewhat crude Salon type extractor, rocking on a pin with a spring lifting its back end.
>>
>>33673221
Is it accurate? What kind of scope is that?
>>
>>33673221
Salon... frigging autocorrect. Supposed to be 'Sako.'
>>
>>33673232
1950's Weaver B4. So far still only a few dozen rounds at outside distance - 40 metres it's giving me 2" groups with Remington Subsonic. It likes CCI SV much better, groups tighter, but I ran out before establishing a few solid groups to be sure. Gemtech Silencer subs suck through this one. Really sloppy non-groups.
>>
10/22 charger.
>>
>>33673245
Not bad for a homemade affair. Where exactly did you source the barrel?

Also what is the deal with your suppressor? I've been curious about the process of making a decent one for .22 for a while. What's the weight on it?

>>33673253
Length of pull looks real weird. I love that setup though, what stock is that?

The charger is more than a normal 10/22 and I would be hard pressed justifying it over a takedown which I can get for like 280 or 270 minus ffl fee.
>>
>>33673258
Axiom chassis, shockwave arm brace. Brace position can be changed as it locks down via setscrew.

Not a cheap option though, no. You need to at the very least drop a new barrel in which is an extra $150 as well. Additional $100 for the chassis/brace.
>>
>>33673309
Why do you need a new barrel? Can't you use the one that came with the charger?

Does the stock and brace add weight?
>>
>>33673258
It's my fourth try. Getting better at it, though even the first shoots decently. First time with a non-integral suppressor - the others all got porting and over the barrel expansion volume. Wanted to keep this one closer to the original idea from the old Day of the Jackal film.

The suppressor uses aluminum K baffles. 10 in this case (the longer one is new - the short one shown in my first picture was an ancient screw-on can. It's quieter than anything I've made before.

The barrel is an 8" section of Redman barrel liner, chambered, crowned, and stiffened with a 12mm OD 2mm wall thickness CF tube glued over it with steel filled JB Weld. Barrel liner is soldered into a 1" section of a steel plug which is epoxied into the main tube and pinned with the bolts from the front scope mount wedge. 12mm of the CF tube is glued inside the steel plug as well for overlap. Suppressor adapter is aluminum, itself bonded to the CF tube and 1/2" of the barrel liner with JB Weld.
>>
>>33673318
Oh, and the total finished weight is 2 pounds exactly. 5.5 ounces for the 9" long all aluminum can.
>>
>>33673323
>>33673318
5.5 ounces for the suppressor? Fucking hell. Aluminum is fine to use for .22 I'm guessing that's why it's so light?

I really would love to make one of those if the HPA passes but I do not have the knowledge. I know you can make some just with a drill press but I don't even have that.
>>
>>33673316
The factory barrel is both awkwardly long and not threaded. Maybe some come that way now idk, haven't kept up. Chassis and blade weigh less than the factory grip. There is no stock, stop saying stock.
>>
>>33673369
The charger is threaded now and it is 10 inches.
>>
>>33673374
Neat. 10" is still petty long though, 6" plus a can is much better.
>>
>>33673309
>>33673369
>>33673381
Am I missing something? Found the axiom but there appears to be no way to mount the tube and brace.
>>
>>33673335
I used 6061 seamless 1" tube and 7075 alloy for the end plugs and baffles. 7075 is much smoother to machine and much higher strength compared to 6061. Plenty strong for subsonic. 22lr. I'd never shoot high velocity stuff in such a home made gun. No point anyway, too loud even with the suppressor. I have a 6" pistol can made similarly, 6 K baffles machined from 0.875" 7075 rod. It's very decently quiet and weighs 3.5 ounces. You do need a lathe and some skills with it of course. Which is why the shops charge the big bucks.
>>
>>33673441
It has to be modified, obviously.
>>
>>33673464
I am not looking for highest tech. If this were new Zealand I'd pick up a cheap aluminum 22 Suppressor for 20-50 bucks!

I really just want something reasonably effective and easy to do. I have no access to a lathe. Then you're kind of at the mercy of shit like the oil filter and mag light suppressors I suppose.

Isn't the supersonic stuff hearing safe with your suppressors? Surely the high velocity stuff isn't that loud.

>>33673467
Is it difficult to do so?
>>
>>33673490
Nope. Just a quick chop.
>>
>>33673514
That is a really neat setup. I'm sure it would be cool even with the 10 inch barrel. Would be well over 300 all said and done but still it's neat.
>>
>>33673490
Nothing wrong with freeze plugs if they're domed or pressed into cones, and a dimple pressed into one edge of each hole to govern cross bore flow a bit. It's all about redirecting flow.
>>
>>33673490
Oh, and I'm just not interested in loud shooting, ever, so I never use anything supersonic.
>>
>>33673520
I've seen some people do the freeze plug mag light suppressors and as long as someone has a drill press it seems ez pz and they seem real effective.

I guess you're limited to rimfire though and it's fuckhuge. The oil filters are also fuckhuge and presumably rimfire limited.

>>33673525
I think quiet shooting looks so fun. If I ever got a nice suppressor I'd buy a short barreled 22 pistol like a MK 5 lite or something so cheaper stuff would stay subsonic

Honestly though I'd be happy with hearing safe supersonics too.
