How important are aesthetics to you?

Looking around for my first handgun, and the CZ 75 seems like the rationally best choice for me - it's highly available here, high quality at a reasonable price, lots of variants and available parts because other people use it. But I don't like its aesthetics at all. It just doesn't appeal to my eye the way a Beretta does.

Other ones I'm considering are the Sig P226, but that costs 75% more, and the HK P30L, but that doesn't seem to be available, just the P30 which seems a bit too short for me.

I prefer my brothers CZ75b over my sig p226. Personally would go with a CZ but sigs are dope. And it doesn't look bad at all!

Choosing aesthetics over practicality is OK depending on why you are buying that gun.

If it's just a collector's item / range toy / LARP accessory, get whatever makes your dick hard. Nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>33666635
as long as the gun fires when you pull the trigger, you're basically good in 99.99% of scenarios. but if you don't like the aesthetic of a nice cz-75, you should go off yourself.

Continued...

Most people who buy guns for self-defense (and for that matter, for a SHTF scenario) never actually see combat. In this case I would pick a firearm that you like aesthetically but can still trust your life to.

If you are an armed professional, you absolutely should get the best piece of hardware that you can find, regardless of aesthetics.

CZ75's are honestly great, especially if you have little monkey hands that can actually rack the slide.

>>33666635

I think the CZ is an acquired taste, have a look at the new ipsc models coming out over the past couple of months.

IMO they're looking better and better as they go on.

Pretty is extremely important. CZ SP01 shoots like a motherfucker, so it gets to be prettier than anything it outperforms.

...Which is almost anything I have ever put my hands on, including SIGs, P30s, VP9, glocks, and a bunch of other shit.
>>
>>33666635
Cz sp-01 and p-01 are the best guns ever made but they are heavy.
I don't like the RAMI very much.
If you get a 75b, consider the omega. The trigger is simpler and better.
>>
>>33666635
I've owned a few hk pistols and prefer the p-09 or p-07 too them. They're pretty similar feeling to shoot.
>>
>>33666635
>How important are aesthetics to you?

Enough that I won't buy a butt ugly gun.

Not enough that I'd buy a gun on looks alone.
>>
>>33666635
I dunno, I think CZ has some good aesthetics personally. But all that aside, how often are you going to be looking at the side profile of the gun? Just get what feels good in your hand.

Flathead is cancer, screwdriver won't stay centered and it's impossible to get any torque on it, maybe if they didn't use shit metal Phillips wouldn't strip, but in any case...

>>
>>33670216
When you deal with any real amount of torque, like for engines, I've seen T45 round right the fuck up, then you have to drill it out, but it doesn't really matter when it's just a hand screw driver tightening a fastener
>>
>>33666635
>How important are aesthetics to you?
not one iota, but I do enjoy watching you faggots circlejerk over it and cackle like women in a kitchen.
>>
>>33670282
If you are rounding out a T45 on an engine, you need to use some PB blaster and a propane torch.
>>
>>33666635
Try shooting them at a local range, and see what you like. I am looking at the beretta 92 or a px4 storm because i am interested in the different locking systems. Most guns now are super reliable, especially military tested ones, so I don't worry about it. I have shot my dad's sig p226 extensively and it is a nice gun.
>>
>>33670301
>just use pbplaster
LOL it was just that easy?
It's really got nothing to do with the shape of the head, but the grade of the fastener and the tool that will tell if it strips, I'm not hating on torx, I'm just bitter whenever car manufacturers use fasteners other than hex bolts, they always use shit grade and they always break of strip

Depends what kind of a gun it is. My CCW? Couldn't care less. Target rifle/pistol? Very important, if that's what I'm looking for.

I know it will make many of the turbo-autists on this board REEEEE but 99.99% of gun owners will never have to fire a shot in anger. You will almost assuredly never have to use your AR-15 in a life-or-death scenario, and you'll never go innawoods with your PSL or Tigr after a nuclear meltdown. And as such, aesthetics are a perfectly valid consideration for people on the consumer market. Especially if all other things are equal. Which would you rather buy, assuming they both have identical performance? A car that looks like a brand new Porsche, or a rusted piece of shit that's got a cracked windshield and suspicious stains in the trunk?
>>
>>33670530
...Which is why I listed every other fastener above it.
>>
>>33670216

Love my cz's but this seems like a good place to ask a cz question.
I notice there is a lot of visible casing with the chambered round. Is this a head spacing concern? Should this concern me if I want to run over pressured rounds?

I own both a CZ sp-01 and a Sig P226 and I love how perfect out of the box the sig was. The siglite sights and everything was smooth ready to shoot. When I bought my new sealed sp-01 the sights weren't zero'd in and there was a scratch on the barrel. Of course it didn't bother me later on because of normal wear, but when buying a new item it's bothersome. I do prefer the decocker and ergonomics on the sp-01 more. At the end of the day I'd use my p226 for work rather than the p-01. You can often find LEO trade ins for as low as ~$450 if you're patient.

Very important.

If I don't like the firearm enough I'll end up selling it off. I try hard not to buy firearms I don't like both in form and function so I don't end up losing money in the future.
