I got my unit for $1650. It came with a newer autogated mx 10130/d tube. Pretty nice tube. If you're going to buy used, ask the seller questions about what sort of tube it has, how many hours it has been used, and ask for photos. Check for feedback of past NV sales and see if they are reputable.

I got gen4 pvs14s that I bought while in the army. I use them to avoid people when in a woods.

Just got into NV myself, found a homebrew PVS14 for $2k with mount and airshit helmet. It's good but I'm sending it off to get rebuilt and repurged. Super fucking fun though, shooting steel at night suppressed is pretty Predator.

Are the IR lasers on devices like that (with visible lasers) slaved to the visible laser, or do you have to zero both? I would imagine the visible one adjusts along with the IR one, but I'm not sure.

Additionally, since we're talking about NODs, are there any civilian brands or devices which you guys would recommend?

Question for everyone with NOD experience here, what's the best NOD a civilian can get on the market? About to pick up a PVS14 because it's a solid piece of gear but I'm wondering if there's something better

You can get more advanced devices that integrate moar tubes and thermals but there is really no end to the cost that you could keep dropping into these.

They need a bright day or light source to illuminate them. Also expect some motion blur due to the old school tubes used in them. You wont be happy trying to move while shooting or shoot anything moving.

I was an optic tech in the Marines. I worked on those things all the time.

Protip - DO NOT look at bright lights with that thing, especially the sun. Can't tell you how many image tubes came in with dark black "smudges" all over the images. It'll burn it out and the unit will become unusable. Makes sure your light detector on the front isn't dirty or covered up. It's made to automatically shut the unit off when it detects too much light.

The AN/PVS-14 is better, but only because it gives you one eye for regular use. AN/PVS-7B will fuck your depth perception hard.

How's the pta bravo high cut helmet for pvs-14 mountage? I got one on order, already got a notoros shroud, rhino 2 swingarm,ops core chinstrap, and phoenix Jr ir strobe. Feedback greatly appreciated
