If the primary concern for arming cargo ship to defend against

What if the pirates steal that boat while the ship is in port

Like a naval equivalent of "leaving your guns at the door"

The biggest "easy" transportable gun would be a .50BMG and even with oneof these it would be a pain in the ass.

Even so, it would be armed to the teeth, so that would be a deterrent

I don't think it'd be too hard to stack, say, 4-8 M2 .50 cals (or any .50 cal really) and 1000 rounds for each in a smaller "guns at the door" boat while business is done on land.

Not really, they're just tools, not like they're all armed with genuine Stg's or something. It's easier just to buy new ones anyway. They're not short of money.

They already have similar services, companies will loan gun then pick them up when it goes to port. Maritime security get their weapons delivered then the next time they go into port will be the end of the trip so just throw all the weapons overboard
