Glock, are they worth buying or not?

Only fags color in their roll marks with crayons.

But yes Glocks are great. I recommend getting a 19 or 17 if it's your first pistol.
>>
>>33644277
They are arguable the best "jack of all trades, master of none" handgun on the market. They don't do anything exceptionally well, but they do everything good enough to satisfy the needs of a first or budget handgun.
>>
>>33644277
I love my 19. She's a fine gun and my first handgun. I may trade it but I'm not sure for what. I'm looking at the ruger American compact but I'm not sure yet. Gotta go to the range and test

Glocks are awesome OP. I just went shooting all day with my 17 and couldn't be happier.

Simple answer:
Do you want a glock?
If yes, then they're worth it.
If no, then they're not.

I've met people who buy and love guns that are absolute shit. They know it's shit. I know it's shit. They love it anyways. That's /k/.
>>
>>33644323
They endure, my friend. They endure better than anything else on the market.
>>
In my opinion it's worth having just one. People who buy a bunch of Glocks are like people who buy a bunch of Honda Civics.

Perhaps TWO glocks, if you must have them in different calibers.

I own two, one my dad gave me, Glock 21 in .45acp

And then my carry glock, a 26
>>
Glocks are fine handguns and you're not going to go wrong at all if you purchase one.

Hipsters and /k/'s many nogunz shit on them, but fuck them.
>>
>>33644323
This. They are reasonably priced, popular for aftermarket parts, and simple. easy to learn. Not the greatest thing you can buy, but out the box, at the price, its solid. A Gen 3 19 goes for $500 at most LGS. As you learn, you can tweak it. Want a light? There is a rail. Suppressor? Buy a threaded barrel. Taking a class? Holsters galore. IDPA competition? Mod the hell out of it. If you don't like it? You can sell it and make most of your money back. Buy a 19, learn the fundamentals, find what you like and dislike.
>>
>>33644277
If you're buying a gun for self-defense, Glock is perfectly fine. It does what a gun should do - You can aim it well enough, it fits in the hand well-enough, it holds enough rounds, and when you pull the trigger, it's almost certainly going to go bang.

I like my 1911, but it's a trade-off. I get lower capacity and an arguably 'outdated' cartridge, but I gain something that fits more comfortably in my hand, and is slimmer for concealment.

Buying a gun is like buying a pair of boots, my dude. Reviews are great, but you won't know if a gun works for you unless you get a chance to pick it up, hold it, and ideally shoot it.

In short: It's a gun. It's quintessentially gun-ish. It isn't good or bad, unless there's a facet of it that you, personally, do not like.
>>
Yes, but there are better guns for the same money.
>>
>>33644544
How well do plastic pistols really endure? What kind of shape will they be in after a hundred years?
>>
>>33644277
I'm going to hold you to that, OP. If I see another thread after this, I'm calling your ISP, getting your address, and dropping a rolling plastic bin's worth of dog poop on your porch.
>>
>>33644277
They're fine for the most part, but the slide release is absolute shit and so worthless that it is almost exclusively the reason for the 'rack the slide' to release it movement.

soak a glock and a 1911 in salt water for a month and tell me which one still runs

then soak them for a hundred years
>>
Glock is okay in all honesty

>what should i get as a first pistol

if you answer glock to the above question, you're a fucking glock fanboi retard.

A first pistol should not need aftermarket parts ordered just to play "catch up" with the rest of the handgun market. That's also extra money on top of what you already paid for the gun.
>>
>>33644793

This.

I had a snubbie .38 smith for concealment.

But i bought into the pocket semi auto meme...

Horrible... stuck with my little .38 instead
>>
>>33645860
The only part on a Glock that I've ever replaced is the sights, and that is only on guns that didn't come with factory night sights.
Glock is a fine first gun, no better or worse than anything else in it's class.
>>
How do they compare to a VP9?
>>
>>33645870
I went the opposite way.
I had a .38 S&W 642 for carry. I hated the cylinder bulge. Bought a Glock 43 after testing a few single stack 9's. Been carrying it ever since.
>>
>>33645877
>no better or worse than anything else in it's class

You're delusional if you're trying to say that the glock's bore axis is a huge plus in comparison to the p320's. Did you even bother checking the dimensions in person?
>>
>>33645901
I can't imagine a use for the VP9 that another firearm wouldn't be better suited for IMHO.
>>
>>33645970
sure anon the 3-4 extra ounces is totally going to break your numale wrists
>>
>>33646048
yes, I did. I got used to shooting CZ 75s but wanted to try something new. Sigs have always been tall, doesnt point naturally to me.
>>
>>33646048
Not him, but i had a sig p320 for a couple months back in the day. maybe it's just because i switched platforms a lot and had dainty little mangirl wrists, but the bore axis was slightly noticeable under fire when compared to a M&P or Glock
>>
>>33644277
Yes. There are guns that do it better but Glocks are still solid pistols.
>>
>>33644277
If you want a pistol that fires bullets, a Glock will do that.
>>
>>33644277
>are they worth buying or not?
They're fine, but I prefer a pistol with a little more weight to it because it's a lot more pleasant to fire. A little more weight takes the shock out of it.
Overall? not a huge fan, but they're fine.
>>
>>33645960
This is dumb.

1. Buy Cheap Glock: $350
2. Install Upgrades: $500
Total: $850

At least. Guys that really put a lot into them end up spending $1500 in upgrades.

For $850 you can get a NIB almost anything and for $1500-2000 you can get more exotic guns as well.
>>
>>33646378
cool story bro
>its a fucking toy as i dont make a living with it
>>
>>33644277

I own 1 glock out of 8 firearms. I am going with yes, but for a reason.

I picked my Glock 27 gen4 carefully. What I wanted was a pistol that could shoot multiple types of ammunition with very little changes.

With my Glock 27 I can use .40 mags and 9mm mags. Now with barrels I have the option of .40, 9mm and .357(use .40 mags).

Now my compact pistol can use any gen 4 mags for 9mm, .40 cal. Shoot 9mm. .357 or .40 ammunition. Perfect for cases were ammunition types become a problem. It is still compact so I can conceal (not well) and use any magazine sizes available because it is the compact series.

Hard for other brands to match that cheaply.

>>
>>33645923

You know. I might like that little glock because its still comfortable to grip, but it's illegal in Commiefornia so until I move out I'll have to stick to my snubbie.

I had a Kahr p380. Have you seen how tiny those things are? Thing was incredibly hard to manipulate with my big hands.

Hated the trigger on it to. And I've been shooting and speed loading revolvers my whole life so there's also some bias there.

Even though there is a cylinder bulge. I still feel it carries more comfortably than a semi in the pocket. Draws easier too. And revolvers are more ergonomic and that makes me want to use them more at the range. More time practicing with them means I'm a better shot with them.

So i only really practice seriously with my G26 that I IWB carry, and my pocket snub. All my other guns are just range toys.

Nobody is disputing the fact that this is the only distinguishing characteristic of glock in the handgun market
>>
>>33644277
Worth it?
Sure.
Do I like them?
No.
The stock trigger is absolutely horrible and the gun looks/feels boring as fuck. Even the gucci'd up Glocks look like shit. If you're dead set on one, by all means; if you're looking at options, there are better ones at the same price point. See: CZ, Sig.
>>
>>33644546
This, with the right glock you can shoot a stupid number of calibers. Especially since some models share frames.
For example, with a glock 20 you can feasibly shoot:
>10mm
>.40
>.357 sig
>9x25 dillion
>.38 super
>9mm+p
Add a glock 21 slide, because the 20 and 21 have the same frame, and you can also shoot:
>.45
>.460 rowland
>.40 super
That's 9 calibers out of the same gun, and that's just lone wolf conversions.
