Revolvers can be smaller than most 7-8 round .45s

That actually makes sense though. .45 isn't any more powerful than 9mm, so you don't get any stopping power advantage. In that case, you might as well go for a higher capacity gun, the 9mm. But the .357 is actually more powerful and thus the lower capacity is justifiable.

plus the added reliability of the revolver, op is comparing apples and oranges

My grandpa was a big man, I'm talking about 6'6. He used to carry 2 revolvers which saved his life when he was attacked by multiple perps. Talk all the shit you want but it obviously worked for him.

That said I'd be perfectly OK with up just a glock.

dude what, I've never seen the same person say both those things. Hundreds of people post on this board every day, it's not a hivemind
>>
>>33642607
but 357 is also better than 45
>>
>>33642675
Life isn't a videogame, those calibers don't do "less damage" or something stupid.
Hit them in the heart or head and they will go down. Velocity only matters for penetration, caliber just makes it easier to hit vital points by a small amount. Shot placement is key.
>>
>>33642607
TBF, .357 is known as the street king for a reason. It tends to put buts in seats. While no slight gain in wounding per round will make up for poor shot placement it's also true that while some terminal ballistics experts think that velocity only effects wounding to a large degree once you hit around 2000fps, others think that it becomes a large factor around the 1600-1700fps range. Which .357 magnum is just capable of with hotly loaded 125gr rounds.

personally i like being able to reload fairly quickly and not being rendered effectively deaf after the first 1-2rnds though

MUH WOUND VOLUME BUH CALIBR.jpg
409KB, 1023x867px
I mean, why would anybody want to carry a .45 over a 9mm. its not like one produces 38% larger wounds than the other with top of the line ammo. what you really need are 11 extra rounds left in your mag after you had to put 4 in a perp before he went down. taking longer to drop than 2-3 rounds of .45 because believe it or not hitting a thumb width line on a moving/shooting target was harder than it looked.
>>
>>33642640
.357 Magnum shotgun master race
>>
Nope, revolvers are also retarded for carry
>>
>>33646134
Ranger T's are getting over an inch in .45 these days.
>>
>>33642640
25 ACP takes the lead out of nowhere, makes me feel good about owning one
>>
>>33645963
I'll normally write a wall of text on exactly what you just said there. That's about the size of it.
>>
>>33647127
But they're fun as hell
>>
>>33643904
You say that like it's a bad thing
>>
Here's the real question, why are ballastics 'experts' so thoroughly unscientific most of the time? How are they able to get such wildly differing conclusions, i.e. 1600 vs 2000, and still get taken seriously? Why don't more of them just say they aren't sure, i don't know, or we need more testing?

What the hell
>>
>>33647273
Keep in mind that non duty calibers have an advantage because they're more likely to be used at super close range with totally clear shots, as opposed to being used in open gun fights.
>>
>>33642640
Something tells me that .22 includes all 22's and 223
>>
I carry a smith and Wesson model 1950 chambered in 45acp. Come and get me /k/!

The good ones say they aren't sure. they say that from their own experiences this is what they think is correct, but regardless here are the baselines that i KNOW are good and should be followed. everything else is either icing on the cake or to be reviewed again later when better data is available.

Then you have faggots like fackler who pretend they know everything about an emerging sience

Thanks for an excellent read. I feel vindicated for carrying .45 hardball, and the .416 rigby incidents were worth a few keks.
>>
>>33642607
If I was in the US I'd probably carry my S&W 629 4".

I would love to see some morons face just before I wipe it off the universe HA!

It does look a little fugly, but they're awesome guns. I used to talk with a couple guys that worked for Coonan in Minnesota, family oriented company, good people.

>>33642640
i am surprised .32 is used enough to even get enough data, most .32s seem to be old collectors pieces , not carry weapons
