>T-14 Armata

>The tank features the Afghanit active protection system (APS), which includes a millimeter-wavelength radar to detect, track, and intercept incoming anti-tank munitions, both kinetic energy penetrators and tandem-charges. Currently, the maximum speed of the interceptable target is 1,700 m/s (Mach 5.0), with projected future increases of up to 3,000 m/s (Mach 8.8).
>According to news sources, it protects the tank from all sides. These systems put the Armata a generation ahead in terms of defensive technology. Such systems are "only in their infancy on British and American tanks"

I'm not even Russian, but how can USA, China, UK or India even compete?
>>
I can't wait to see it captured by some sand niggers in Iraq or w/e in 10 years and driven around for the cameras.
>>
>>33615340
I sincerely hope we can get along with the good ol' Ruskies. They're up against the US, which has more manpower and more money, EU, which has more money, China, which has WAY more manpower, and the list goes on. Even then, the Russians fight on and you have to respect them for that.
>>
>>33615340
Russians always, ALWAYS overstate their technological capabilities. I would put good money on the Armata being a very capable tank, but not notably better (if better at all) than the current Abrams.

inb4 dumbasses post their thoughts when some hand-me-down gets fucked on because it was given to arabs.
>>
>>33615340
throw rocks at it to waist the APS then shoot ti with a javelin
>>
>>33615340
APS has a finite number of charges that is usually smaller than the number of m829a3 shells an abrams can carry. Plus the abrams can take basically everything to the front glacis and come out completely fine.

>how can USA, China, UK or India even compete?

Well, the USA will do what it's always done and build a better tank/improve the ones it has and btfo whatever sand niggers are using in 20 years.

China will continue to eclipse Russia as America's dominant global rival on all fronts and produce a few more ZTZ-99s

UK might throw smoothbore 120s on the Chally 2 and call it a day, or they might just not give a fuck because there's really no reason to give a fuck about a handful of Russian tech demo tanks.

India is irrelevant and will continue to spend more money on figuring out indoor plumbing than on weapons development.
>>
Build in numbers the Vatnik economy could never hope to compete with

Reminder that Russian defense budget is roughly 1/9th of Murica's
>>
>>33616074
It's the truth, I'm not sure how anybody worth their salt can actually say Russian equipment is better, especially after how lackluster the performance in Syria is (the Navy not even being mentioned here).
>>
>>33615399
Haha. Will never happen, this is the ultimate battle tank.
>>
>>33616716
Yeah, that's what they said about the T-55, and 62, and 64, and 72, and 80, and 90... Aside from the 64 I'm pretty sure we've seen all of them being blown up and paraded around over the last few years.

But, you're half right in a sense. The Russian's won't even export the T-64, and I doubt there's anything in that tank that the West hasn't known about since the 80s at the latest. The odds that anyone besides Russia will have T-14s in their inventory that aren't stolen are low.
>>

The true capability of the T14 is currently a mystery and there are way too few built to be significant at this time.
The biggest problem I have with the T-14 is how fuck ugly the ting is.
We where promised a Black Eagle style tank whith autocannons, 152mm guns, CIWS and the works.
Then it was unveiled like a wet fart, a fugly lump, big, crude and blocky, fixed hard kill launchers and nothing really revolutionary.
Pic related, what was being shilled and what we wanted.
>>
>>33615340
>how can USA, China, UK or India even compete?
But they do, every country you listed is actively working on soft and hard kill ADS. And Russians wish they had APS as good as AMAP-ADS HEAVY.

What I am interested more than their overgrown Drozd is the new soft ADS, which combines missiles with EMP generators, decoys and smoke grenades.

As the "Bulletin of Mordovia" is one of the leading experts on the Syrian crisis Yuri Ljamin, the T-90A belongs to the militants of the terrorist group "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham", which included including "Nusra" banned in Russia and several other radical groups . Settlement Mardes for the third time passes from hand to hand over the last couple of weeks. First he captured militants, then the Syrian military managed to repulse him, and now the terrorists went there again.

That particular model was pushed by russian state media as was the rumors about autocannons.
That matters little, it is expected of russians to lie, cheat and trick. The problem is that the T-14 is butt fucling ugly. I would be ashamed to go into battle in that ugly lump.
I mean look at this hot piece, made by russians no less. It got curves, futuristic looks and everything.

I think the shitty look had something to do with it. I mean, if you're going to operate five different front-line MBTs, you want to at least be able to tell them apart visually. I'm not the best, but I know my tanks and I have trouble telling a T-80 from a T-72 from a T-64 at times. There's no mistaking an Armata for any tank in the world (save maybe a PL-01 if you're a stealthfag) and I believe that's the way the Russians wanted it.

Western tanks all follow a pretty standard design: boxy hull, raised engine deck, highly sloped upper glacis with flat lower glacis, flat turrets with sharply angled fronts and slab sides. Eastern tanks, sans ERA at least, all have the distinctive cast turret of varying but similar hemispherical design and more or less the same hull layout from the T-44. Regardless of capability, apparent or factual, the Russians knew they were going to be the first into the new generation of MBT, and wanted to make as show of it. It makes sense, given their history. While construction and ability may not have been the best, tanks like the T-34, IS-3, and now the T-14 show that the Russians have a flare for bringing the world into new eras of armored combat in (somewhat ironically) extravagant ways.

Also, if we're talking paper panzers and the like here, the Object 477/490A gets my vote. Something about that turret just screams "Put a 155mm cannon on me and point me at the Chechens"
>>
