I was in the market for a backpack and it literally just wound up coming down to an ALICE pack with a frame.

I can take the frame out and use it like a baggy backpack for lighter trips, I can load it out and wander around the woods for a week like I'm the fucking baba yaga. It's great.

For combat though I figure all you need is a small pack that won't fall apart as you aren't going innawoods for huge stretches of time.
