I use to be a k9 handler. The dogs are almost useless with armor on. Most of us rock a light weight harness and retractable. They overheat too quickly to be effective.

Most the dogs that have been to war have subtle ptsd from gunfire and explosions and either whine or get really stressed out. Being 100% serious.

This happened to a guy in my kennels. They got into a firefight and one of the infantry kids took cover next to the dog team. The handler hears the kid screaming "I'm hit I'm hit!" And turns to help. His dog latched onto the kids arm and was really screaming "im bit!"

Some of the dogs don't care at all. We do weekly gunfire with a .38 and an old a2 so we don't have to clean our weapons after the sessions.


Almost all of the dogs that were deployed and been in combat lose it even in just weekly gunfire training. Most the younger ones it doesn't phase them.

You can't win against the doggo

War hounds best worked as cannon fodder for trench style warfare or classical style team a is to the left and team b is on the right. You send dogs over to give your men a break from fire and the enemy is too distracted shooting dogs charging at them
